Pours a healthy three finger head of deep tan foam, nice density with cratering at the pour point, ends up in a hilly surface with a few big splotches for lacing, no true streaks. The liquid is a deep reddish orange with a fair amount of floaties darkening it further, minimal clarity, only a few bubbles visible here or there. Caramel infused nose with copious amounts of bread and biscuit, roasty with orange peel, pine sap and sun warmed tar notes, the tropical pineapple, guava fruit seems more sluggish than juicily flowing, overall staying power is good. Medium-bodied, the low carbonation leaves it flat-footed emphasizing thickness over expression of flavor. Dry and herbaceous with a peppery streak, not much sweetness in the orange to lemon citrus nor the apricot, pineapple, green apple fruit. Cocoa powder and nuttiness joins the breadiness, the caramel or butterscotch element loses grip. Leaves a roasty sort of taste and residue behind. Does not have a clipped finish but does not seem long either, more evidence of a compact presentation. While sampled well within its drinking window, this strikes one as a brew best sampled super-fresh.

Looks good, taste meh per usual hoppy bitter, feel again meh. If your a sheep and following the current IPA trend you may like it. The label is nice looking so I guess its got that going for it.

As a rider, I have an affinity for bicycle themed beers. This one’s not too bad, pours amber with modest foamy head, aroma is lacking but taste makes up for the shortfall. Nice hop bitterness, but not overdone, so it’s smooth and drinkable. I don’t like fixies, but I like this.

Appearance : Dark honey colored to iced tea colored body, topped by a soft brownish off-white head. The head initially pours 4 fingers and then the body eats it up to about 1 finger, leaving thick lacing behind.

Smell : Lots of pine and grapefruit rind, with some polite roasted amber malts behind that. Nothing more, nothing less. Simple and exact.

Taste : Much more roasted flavor in the body and less hop than in the nose. Very delicious, and I should note I'm drinking this at about 42 degrees. Some honey and brown sugar accompany the roast malts, and some grapefruit rind accompanies the pine. It's a bit strong for me but I'm not normally a fan of IPA's. This is really delicious though, and although intense it's still easy to drink.

Feel : Very creamy, very large, dense, and lightly/appropriately carbonated. Ends dry.

Overall : While I can't really say this is an end-all be-all beer, and that I thoroughly enjoy it, I CAN say that this is a great representation of a Red IPA. Next to Odell's Runoff, I think this is probably my favorite Red IPA.

Poured into a pint glass. Hazy, reddish amber color with a minimal head that recedes almost immediately and doesn't leave lacing. Floral hop and not overwhelming caramel aroma. It's a hoppy red with a clean floral hop and caramel malt body before an underwhelming piney hop finish. Medium-light body and medium carbonation.
It's an above average red that doesn't stand out particularly well. It's good but not something I'll search out. There are more interesting and better done reds out there.
