12oz bottle bb 12/28/17 poured into a.5L Krug at fridge temp. No ABV listed on label. The beer pours a very caramel orange color and is bright with white head. Head recedes to a ring quickly with no lacing. Aroma is fair with caramel malt and a hint of "beer" smell. Taste is caramel malt first and then falls into that nondescript beer taste. Nothing off in the taste and no perceived bitterness. Mouthfeel is thin bodied, lightly carbonated and not very dry in the finish. Overall, ok. It's a good beer for drinking, but not a great example of the style. Middle of the pack.

A - Dark orange body, near copper, clear, very little head and it fades to nothing.

S - Bread and spice, apple and a hint of alcohol.

T - Caramel open, a bit of fruit, tea and bread, and mild hop bitterness.

M - Crisp, clean. A bit thin, but decent.

O - Not a great example of the style, but drinkable and pleasant.

Pours a clear dark amber with an off-white head that fades fairly fast. Looks like lots of carbonation. Aroma is toffee, spice, cracker and a slight fruit note. Taste is toffee, cracker, a bit of snappy spice and a mildly buttering finish. Quite sweet. Mouthfeel is medium, smooth and nearly creamy. Overall, pretty good if a bit too sweet.

A group of local imbibers held the #PumpkinChallenge2016 recently, wrapping up on M, 03 Oktober 2016. I then proposed the #OktoberfestChallenge2016 & while I do not know how many participants there are, I am hitting it full bore. Today will be my New OktoBierFest Sunday (Week TBD) with an opportunity to do a horizontal tasting.

Nothing of note on the bottle, so I proceeded directly to the Pop! of the cap. I then performed an almost vertical pour just because I am waning & I want to wrap up this madness quickly. This resulted in just under three fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with good retention. Color was Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was toasty, biscuity, but not outright sweet. I was not getting anything in terms of hops, but as long as it was not coming across as a malt bomb, I was down with it. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was very toasty, reminding me of Blue Point's Toasted Lager. This was a great follow-up to being punched with sugary malts and I may be biased since I may not have liked it as much earlier, but now, it was a nice counterpoint. I liked the biscuity-toasty taste which, while being sweet, was reigned in from being over the top. I still did not perceive anything in the way of hops, but that is well within style guidelines. Finish was semi-sweet, but still too sweet for my refined (ha!) taste.

Poured into a Perfect Pint.
L=Dark gold color, less red than a typical märzen. Nice head formation.
S=Honey, with a touch of maltiness and buscuit.
T=First sip was sour but additional sips seemed overly sweet; not much flavor here, and very little malt notes.
F=Too light in body compared to other märzens.
O=My favorite style from one of my favorite breweries was disappointing--this is a sessionable beer, but overly sweet and watered down. Not nearly robust as other märzens. I might try again on tap, but I won't be buying it in a bottle again.

Kind of vanilla and caramel. Not too fizzy....good feel. Like don't love.

Aroma is very malt fruity. Flavor at first is pretty good with some toffee, toasted malt, but then gives way to sweet malts that linger through the finish. Wish they would've reversed that - a bit sweet up front and a nice slightly toasty finish. Oh well.
