12 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a conical pint glass

A - This beer has a burnt orange body with amber highlights. It was topped with an inch of beige head that quickly disappeared.

S - The smell has the usual suspects, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

T - It tastes of pumpkin spice, and that is about it.

M - Thin

O - This is a decent pumpkin beer. The mouthfeel is watered down though.

Aroma: Surprise! Nutmeg and cinnamon, with a light ginger aroma after some deep sniffs. Mild pumpkin aroma as swirled. Some sweet malt. No hop aroma.

Appearance: Light orange in color. Brilliantly clear and sparkling. Small white head with fine bubbles, mostly from the nucleation site on the bottom of my glass.

Flavor: Malty but not overly sweet, more like a Vienna lager. A good mixture of nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger that is not overwhelming but does stay with you after the sip. No astringency. No hop flavors. Finish is crisp and lagery with a hint of pilsner malt. Mouthfeel is a bit light.

Overall: Not a bad beer. I like the crispness of it and the well balanced spices.

Appearance:
Pours a cloudy, pale orange color with absolutely no head. Zip! Plenty of carbonation however.

Aroma:
Nothing but spices. Ginger, nutmeg, and a bit of cinnamon. Has a pleasant sweetness to it although the whole package leaves a lot to be desired. Light pumpkin notes.

Taste:
Light for a pumpkin beer, but everything carries over from the aroma. Spices are dominant in the flavor profile. I was hoping for more than a load of spice.

Mouthfeel:
Medium-bodied lager with hardly any noticable carbonation.

Overall:
Nothing special here. It's not the worst pumpkin beer I've ever had but t's also far from the best. The spice overload is a bit too much to enjoy.

The Friendly Greek recently had an entire cooler set aside for this year's pumpkin beers. I bought as many different ones as I could and I am now working my way through them between Hallowe'en and Thanksgiving.

From the bottle: "Brewed in Milwaukee for people who like beer."

I like beer, so this should be right up my alley! I gave it a good heavy handed pour, resulting in two fingers of creamy, tawny head with great retention. Color was a pumpkin-like orangish-amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. I know that 8 is between 7 and 9, but my card does not have that shade. Nose was VERY spicy, cinnamon, clove and ginger being prevalent. Mouthfeel was much fuller than the Stoudt's pumkin lager, giving this one a creamy aspect. The spices were just right, not overwhelming and by closing my eyes, I could imagine drinking a cool pumpkin latte. This is a great pumpkin lager, but don't tell Linus or he might be panicked! Get it, a Great Pumpkin lager? Finish was semi-dry, but because they showed some restraint at the spice shelf, it was not as dry as it might have been.

Slightly hazy orangish red and a 1/8" head"

An odor reminiscent of a fall or pumpkin cider (a pumpkin pie or candle) but much more restrained ... uses the pumpkin the way a clever woman uses perfume

Has a gentle effervescence.

Sweet and pumpkin flavored, but not overpowered. It's hard to tell it's a lager... something you could use to introduce a cider fan to beer.

I'd rate a cider with these properties higher, but I expected more from a beer...
