India Black Ale
The hoppy pine and floral aromas ready your palate for an immediate bitterness. Instead, the sweet, caramely crystal malts blitz through, followed immediately by a sharp piney flavor from Cascade hops. The smooth body leaves a long-lasting hoppy finish.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours reddish black with a fluffy off white head. Smells of citrus hops with some grassy notes. Tastes of coffee notes with citrus and earthy hops. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Black color; ruby when held to the light.
Nice khaki head; a curtain of lace.
Citrus hops in the nose; you'd never guess it was black from the smell.
Medium mouthfeel.
Up front this is orange-accented citrus IPA country; on the back end there is a subtle chocolate finish. No pickle juice for miles.
A nice treat; a black IPA done right!

This beer pours a cola color with a small but sustaining mocha head. The aroma is of coffee, medium dark chocolate, a touch of pine. The flavor offeres up coffee, molasses, hickory smoke, and rich pine resin. The mouthfeel is full but thn enough for the hops to play out well. Overall this is a very enjoyable hoppy black - super balanced and perfect for the tacos I am eating.

L: Dark brown, thick amber head. Average retention.
S: Roasted barely, some chocolate. Hops obscured behind the malts. Smells less malty than a stout, less hoppy than an IPA, and less interesting than either.
T: Bitterness up front stays for the ride. Alcoholic warmth.
Roasted flavors. Bitterness without much flavor.
M: Moderate carbonation, a slightly light body. Small creaminess.
O: A beer that seems confused. The bitterness would be welcome in a true IPA, but here it seems to clash with the other flavors.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 12 oz bottle on November 27, 2015. Look is black with a tan head and lingering lacing. Smell is roasted malts, pine resin and ripe fruit. Taste is a nice blend of complex hop notes, dark roasted malt flavors and ripe fruits. Finish is medium in body with a dry and somewhat bitter finish.

Good looking beer, dark black pour with slight ruby around the edges in the light. A couple fingers of medium viscosity tan foam with moderate lacing. The smell is pine, spice, roasted malts, slight smokiness. The powerful malt body hits you first on taste, with the piney resin lingering. A rye-like flavor as well, but I don't think this beer has any. Medium light body and moderate high carbonation. Excellent!

12oz bottle, grabbed it fresh off the truck from one of my favorite liquor stores (Archer Liquors), Best By 02 APR 2016
A - cola-like near-black body with a very persistent, creamy tan head that leaves a spattering of lacing on the glass as it fades
S - roasted barley and french roast coffee, baker's chocolate, earthy hops
T - heavy roasted barley flavors, dark roast coffee, bitter dark chocolate, nutty grain, earthy hops, piny finish
M - medium body, but feels light at times, ample carbonation, finishes bitter with the roasted barley riding past the finish with a bit of pine that comes out with the earthy hops
O - good beer. If you like roasted barley, this is a beer for you.
