From BeerAdvocate magazine Issue #67 (August 2012):

LOOK: Fizzy lace, big bubbled, cloudy straw

SMELL: Chalky yeast, mineral, peppery phenols, taffy, ripe fruit, grainy, floral

TASTE: Very crisp, long slickness, wet body, very grainy, crackers, overly yeasty, spicy, very dry, salt, dried grass, modest hopping, faint esters, powdered clove, banana pith

Respect for Lakefront for brewing with all local ingredients. Unfortunately, the beer lands, at best, within the middle of the pack for the Hefeweizen style. Lacking head retention due to an overly expressive yeast takes away from this beer and the drinkability it should wield. Good flavors here and there, but nothing really seems to mesh 100 percent. Perhaps this beer should be marketed as an American Farmhouse Ale?

Pours a pale yellow with minimal head and light lacing. Nose is full of banana and clove with some grain as well. Taste starts with nearly a medicinal quality spice profile with heavy clove an coriander. The taste gains even more spice towards the end. Mouthfeel is very light with moderate to high carbonation. Overall, too heavy on the spice for my liking.

12 oz bottle from fthomasl pours a hazed gold color with a fairly small white head for a wheat beer. Retention and lace are poor for the style.

Nose is banana and clove galore with a healthy dose of snappy wheat and light lemon. Smells pretty good.

Taste has a nice yeast/lemon/wheat thing going on. Nice balance and a good use of yeasty phenols. I really like the crispness of the wheat. Pretty good offering and a bit above average hefe.

Want to love an all Wisc beer, esp for it's lattitude, attitude, sausages, and cheese. It should be a great pairing with a germanic brew, but... it's just middle of the pack.

A: Gusher, but thin fast fade head (1 finger); hazed, dark yellow; lots of floaties; little lace.

S: True to form but a bit stinky. Strong pear, yeast aroma -- inviting. Although a fresh date, beer feels a little off.

T: Very strong yeast component; flavor follows smell and includes hay, grass, wheat, flowers. Tries to be thirst quenching, a fair sense of finish, but doesnt quite make it. A little thin, cloying, metallic.
M: not much, thin, watery

Worth a try, novel. Good idea. Needs a lemon? It's pretty flat without, so I want to add one!

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Acquired from my awesome BIF, ufmj. Thanks!

A- Pours a hazy, unfiltered golden body with a 2 finger fluffy white head that reduces pretty quickly to a ring of white foam. No lacing.

S- Pretty fruity, unripe bananas, earthy, and a slight citrus aroma. Not overly aromatic.

T- Starts off with banana, citrus and grass notes. The finish is slightly spicy with clove and cinnamon notes.

M- Pretty watery, high carbonation. Lacking in this category.

An alright wheat beer. Could have used a little more body and flavor.
