Out of a bottle this beer was a cloudy gold color with lots of sediment and a two-finger white head. The retention was only so-so and the lacing the same. The aroma was light and dry, yeast, pale malt, and hints of sweetness from the citrus hops. The flavors were unusual. Starting with tangy citrus and yeast it had a semi-sweet, doughy malt middle and a dry finish. Interesting, but the flavors did not compliment each other. The mouthfeel was average, the body medium and the carbonation good.

Yellow and mild orange color pour, 1/3" white head. Bready aroma.

Taste was super grassy and mild. Earthy bread notes. No hops, adjuncts, bitterness to really speak of. Really tames down the flavors in terms of yeast, hops or malt. Just a chill beer.

Pours a mixture of yellow and amber. Decent enough pour, nothing special or underwhelming (a theme). Aroma was just bready.

Taste, definitely mild, a session beer if you will. Had that earthy and bready thing going again, no hop quotient was noticeable, didn't seem to have any kind of adjunct or anything about it to stand out. Reminiscient of those old generic 'beer' cans they had back in the day.

Not my favorite offering from Lakefront, but hey, they can't all be zingers.

Ow god I had no idea this was retired before I drank it. Could explain why it tasted awful.

A - Clear straw yellow color with decent head for a retired beer.
S - Mostly grass and slight undetectable smell (butter?)
T - Buttery Cornish taste with mild citrus in the background. Hated it to the point of spitting it out.
M - Rough on the palate. Really expected more citrus hops then a grassy buttery flavor. Aggravating.
D - No thanks so thankfully its retired. Was really the only beer in the pack that was a drain pour and will probably dispose of the other two bottles.

HUGE thanks goes out to kbutler1 for sending this one my way. I had been looking for it for awhile to finish the 103 styles list.

A cool day in Florida means this one was ready for consumption right off the Fed Ex truck.

A: Pours a nice light clear yellow hue with a tall foamy white head. Okay retention with just a spot or two of lace.

S: Very sweet malty aromas. Lots of fresh bread with hints of cream of corn.

T: Malty sweet up front. Mildly doughy with the corn coming through. There is a wonderful hop addition though to balance all the sweetness. Mild citrus notes with a nice bit of bitter floral and grassy hops in the finish.

M: Light in body, smooth, sparkling carbonation.

D: Good, for a lighter beer this one really packs a punch. Too bad they retired it cause it is the best Lakefront beer I have ever had. Beats all the light Macro swill by a mile.

For what it is, a real solid beer.

Cattail Ale...ok what is it? No identification as to what I am about to dive into, but lets give it a whirl.

Bottled during: 3rd week of May (no year)

Pours a clear yellow color with a bit of an orange shade to it. Less than a finger of white head that quickly dissolves to just a lace upon the top of the beverage. Nose is faint in hops, mostly citrus and a bit of spice. Also picking up on a bit of yeast and clove. Taste is a little bitter upfront with malt sweetness filling out the thin body and a bit of clove character in there as well.

A - Poured into a clear pint glass. The beer is a clear pale straw color with sediment floating in it...I'm assuming this is a bottle conditioned ale due to the sediment. Poured with an egg shell white one finger head that dissipated rather quickly, leaving a small amount of lacing.

S - Not high on the aroma scale...smells like sweet caramelized malt. It even seems to have a buttery quality in the nose...reminds me of a malt liquor I've tried recently.

T - Malty and yeasty with some pale hops trying to come through. This is not at all high on the IBU scale but there is a very, very minor hoppiness to it.

M & D - Thin, light bodied mouthfeel...a bit on the watery side. Finishes crisp, with very little aftertaste. The low ABV makes this pretty drinkable...this is one of those brews that you would drink on a hot summer day while BBQ'ing. Not one of those beers that is memorable or even recommendable, but I wouldn't turn it down if it was offered to me. Better than drinking macro, for sure.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a rich golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Mild aroma, some notes of fruit. Taste is sweet with a bit of hops. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and has average drinkability. Overall this is not a bad beer at all.

lakefront cattail ale

3.5 clear golden amber, modest head leaves a sparse cap and ring. that too soon backs out of the deal, leaving no trace of lace.
3.5 smells like english malts and there's an odd sweet/sulphery odor. the aroma is not pronounced at all; it's like a very reserved englishman.
2.5-3 not much at all to report in the way of flavor. it's inoffensive enough, and is pretty damned similar to very weak iced tea with a twist of lemon.
3 mouthfeel is extraordinarily watery. the carbonation is modest, but at least it doesn't get in the way.
3 given the dearth of flavor and body, this beer ought to be more like 3% abv, not 5.something. third beer i've tried from this brewery, and am very unimpressed so far. feeling bloody ripped off, actually.
3 it can be drunk easily, and probably in large quantity, but with so little going on per % alc, why bother? you'd be smashed by the time you felt you had tasted enough to know what you were drinking. on the other hand, if this were very low strength i'd regard it rather fondly.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.

Slim white head and a slightly hazy bright yellow/orange body. Carbonation is much more active than I was expecting. The smell is fruity, flowery, and a tiny bit buttery. Taste is much like the smell. Has a bit of tartness to the finish.
