12 oz. bottle, with bottled on date 06/13/2013 printed on the bottleneck. My third of Lakefront Brewery's 25th Anniversary series of beers. Expectations are pretty decent; the premise sounds nice.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - Pours a bright citrusy golden orange colored body with one finger of quickly dissipating white head. Lots of dark sediment floating in the glass. Slightly viscous and muddy appearance, but it looks okay.
S - Smell is comprised of musty yeast, apple / pear / cider, some buttery diacetyl smell, vague notes of indistinct spice, and some faint fruity apricot puree. It's honestly a pretty poor aroma.
T - Taste follows the nose - some sweetened dried apricot puree is noticeable, apples / pear / banana, musty earthy yeast presence, & some malt breadiness to keep everything in check. Some slight funk is noticeable on the end. The apricot comes through subtle, but it is definitely there.
M - Feel is smooth enough, easy drinking, slightly thick and heavy on the finish. Mildly sticky and syrupy. Poor carbonation that dies out quickly, leaving the beer with a flat appearance.
Overall, this is definitely the poorest of the three 25 anniversary beers I have had from these guys, but it isn't bad. Not something I would seek out again, but I'm glad to have 3 more bottles of this to check out.
