$ 7.99 Bomber at Wegmen’s, Erie, PA
Bomber at 40 degrees into SA lager glass
Aroma initially citrus which quickly fades
Head average (3 cm), off white, frothy, diminishing to 3 mm layer
Lacing good – very wide partial rings of tiny bubbles, some medium islands
Body medium amber, hazy
Flavor begins with a light nondescript generic bitterness reminiscent of a pale ale and ends slightly sweet. No alcohol, no malt, no diacetyl.
Palate light to medium, watery, soft carbonation.

Appearance 3.75, Aroma 3.5, Flavor 3, Palate 3.5, Overall 3.4375
Kinda hard to accurately evaluate this beer – not as hoppy as expected for a DIPA but still pretty decent. Very easy drinking and not at all similar to a barley wine which many old DIPAs resemble. More like a non-aggressive pale ale.

22 oz bottle. no date, but I just visited the brewpub and it was released this week, and bought from the fridge at the brewpub, so super fresh.

appears a crystal clear copper color, with bright white head. good head retention and rings of lacing cling to the glass as I drink. very nice bright hop aroma - a bit earthy, a little piney. taste starts a little sweet, ends slightly bitter, lingering aftertaste of hops. a bit piney, resinous. good flavor, just enough malt to balance. medium body, but a bit sticky tasting. coats the mouth.

overall - compared to most of Lancaster's offerings, this stands out

Poured from bottle into a snifter

Appearance – The beer pours quite hazy copper color with a small one inter white head. The head fades very fast leaving only a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is quite nice with it being heavy of a tropical fruit smell of mango, pineapple and tangerine. Other aromas of a slightly bready nature mixed with a bit of caramel follow behind the fruit in intensity. Along with the sweet tropics and malt are some lighter grapefruit hop smells as well as a little bit of an herbal aroma.

Taste – The taste begins with a doughy flavor that has a moderate level of caramel and some fruits of a tangerine and mango nature. Some hop flavors of a grapefruit nature are present upfront, with these getting more potent to the end. The sweeter flavors are certainly not that overpowering though and are only of a moderate flavor upfront, with them fading as the taste moves on more toward the end. The doughy flavors also transitions with them becoming slightly more bready and cracker like in nature at the end of the taste. With the increase in the grapefruit hop, some other hop flavors also come to the tongue. Around the middle of the taste, a resinous pine and earthy hop make their presence known and last to the end. With the mix of hops, lighter fruits/caramel, and more crackery/bready flavors one is left with a non-overpowering but crisp slightly resinous and lingering bitter taste to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to slightly below average side in terms of thickness and creaminess for a brew of 9.4 % abv. with it having a carbonation level that is a bit on the lower side. The mouthfeel was overall fairly nice as the slightly thinner body accentuated the crispness of the brew all while the lower carbonation did not take away much of the potency of the hop flavors.

Overall – A fairly easy drinking and flavorfully crisper, big IPA. Rather tasty overall.
