Notes: Don’t miss out on the intense roasted malts, silky smooth mouth feel, subtle sweetness and velvety chocolate goodness of our 2X Chocolate Milk Stout. We went over the top, with more malt, the infusion of cacao nibs and pure chocolate for a truly otherworldly chocolate stout experience.

On tap at the tap house in Lancaster.

Great look and smell. Decent head with a really nice chocolate smell. The taste was excellent and the beer went down very smooth. Mouthfeel was somewhat weak but nothing that would stop me for having this again. A very enjoyable beer.

12 oz. can. Black body with a creamy beige head. Strong chocolate flavor with a smooth mouthfeel. Slight roasted bitterness and minimal hop presence.

This is wonderful example of the style and a long-time favorite of mine.

A semi-aggressive pour from a can into a shaker provided a khaki 2-finger head, which dissipated to a skim that laced nicely. Very dark brown but not black.

Nose is heavy (I mean HEAVY) chocolate, almost like chocolate liqueur. A hint of coffee if swirled. Hop aroma is close to nil.

Taste of chocolate follows the nose, but to a lesser degree. No harsh roast, and I didn’t get the “intense roasted malts” mentioned in the description by Lancaster. I was pleased/impressed by the bittering; coupled with the roast and chocolate it gives me on/and/off impressions of coffee and bitter-sweet chocolate.

Mouthfeel is not as thick as a ‘heavy’ oatmeal stout, not as thin as a regular stout. I’ll call it “baby bear” good for this beer. Carbonation is just enough to escape you in a swallow, but enough to fizz a bit if swished in the mouth and release the mild roast/coffee and (again) chocolate.

Overall, this is a winner in y book. Not only because I liked it, but also because I think the brewer hit the target. This is my second Lancaster double chocolate milk stout. It was supplied by a friend up PA way who comes to my area only occasionally…..I’ll be hitting him up for more.

Thanks to Ozzylizard for this one, from his box during NBS BIF #14. 12oz can poured into 14oz teku. Poured a solid black color with about an inch-and-a-quarter of light brown head that had great retention and light lacing.

The aroma was strong chocolate. Very strong chocolate. There were some light malt notes hanging around, and no hop presence.

Pretty much the same on the tongue, with just a slight touch of roast added in.

The body was pretty typical; medium-full, smooth, and with a medium finish that leaned a bit towards sweet.

Drinkability was very nice, I'd have it again, but I probably wouldn't have two in a row.

Overall, a nicely enjoyable brew. Certainly worth trying if you see it.

12oz can into snifter glass, served at cellar temp

L- Pours dark minimal foam which dissipates quickly.
S- The chocolate notes are definitely there. Very pleasant
T- Sweet, lactose - a little sweet for my liking but I think this was the intent of the brewer. The sweet aftertaste definitely persists which might appeal to some... not to me.
F- Well balanced
O- Similar to my experiences with other "sweet" stouts. I think it achieves its objective. It is definitely chocolatey and sweet, so this will probably hit the mark for those looking for a dessert-y beer. I think this is best appreciated by others however.

12oz can into snifter glass

L- Pours dark with little head, like almost none and what's there fades immediately
S- Sweet and chocolaty, just as expected from a double chocolate milk stout
T- Sweet, lactose - think my serving temp may just be too cold for this one, may need to warm it up a bit to appreciate it more
F- Not too thick, doesn't seem to really coat the mouth as well as I would like from a milk stout, fades rather quick
O- It's not a bad stout, just disappointing...I had high hopes for this one. I'm sure they had to pump some pure chocolate in as an adjunct to produce the flavor but I think the additional oils may have hampered the overall beer...still better than a Guinness

This is just a fantastic offering from Lancaster. It’s thick and rich, as the name suggests. Great nose of dark chocolate. I am consistently and pleasantly surprised by the hint of bitterness that takes the sweetness down just a bit. I don’t find it to be very faithful to the style but that’s kinda irrelevant here. This beer is that good. If you enjoy splendid roasted malt and dark but sweet chocolate, look no further.

Light carbonation, above average body. Thick creamy feel that coats the tongue, almost milkshake like
Aroma is chocolate milk, chocolate candy, chocolate liqueur, malt, molasses and cream
Taste is hot chocolate, candy bar, milk chocolate, sweet but not cloying. Chocolate liqueur which gives it an adult chocolate milkshake flavor.
This is not a beer to crack open after mowing the lawn. As a dessert beer this is excellent and works great after dinner on a chilly night.

look: deep black with a rusty creamy small head
nose: like a dark chocolate bar
taste: rich dark and milky chocolate with notes of caramel. toasted/roasted feel to it. coffe-esk. sweet with a bit of bitterness to counterbalance it. very smooth and quite tasty.
feel: nice full, slides right off the tongue. seems moderately carbonated but wouldn't be able to tell from looking at it.
overall: Seems like a great stout to me. Great full taste and nice body.

12 oz can at the Fall 2019 ASMF.
Pours with a black body and a semi-durable beige head.
Aroma: inviting mix of chocolate muffins and dark toast.
The flavor adds some coffee, toffee and roasted nuts to the mix.
Smooth, full body with medium-light carbonation.

Pours with around three fingers of head. Doesn't have the fizzing nature of other nitro stouts, so it settles more quickly. Smells of chocolate, and tastes strongly of chocolate. Not too creamy a texture. Excellent chocolate stout, would definitely buy again whether I'm looking for a sweet stout or just something for an everyday beer.

Pouring from a 12 oz. can into a whiskey tumbler glass, this beer pours out black and forms a pinky width of tightly packed, caramel colored bubbles to form a crown.

The nose brings an intense chocolate element. It’s widely milk chocolate with deep notes of caramel and toffee as well. The sweetness lingers in the nose.

The taste brings those layers of sweetness back; chocolate, caramel, toffee. It also brings a little bit of roasty coffee notes that didn’t show up in the nose for me. Milk chocolate, hot chocolate like mix. Lactose is evident.

The mouthfeel is creamy, silky, velvet chocolate. Hardly any bitterness showing through, but enough to counteract some of the sweetness.

Overall, it’s a solid example of the style. An enjoyable brew.

Pours a deep dark mahogany with a caramel colored head.

Smells of chocolate and caramel malt backed by coffee and bitter herb.

Taste is big chocolate up front followed by a quick caramel malt sweetness giving way to a full body coffee flavor. It finishes bitter herb and dry wine notes.
