12oz bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours deep black in color with a thin foamy khaki colored head that quickly reduces to just a ring around the edge

S- big notes of rich milk chocolate, along with caramel/toffee & milky sweetness. A hint of coffee but overall lots of dark milk chocolate

T- sweet dark milk chocolate up front, along with notes of caramel. Mid-palate gives some char and roast, the finish gives a hint of coffee and linger of milk chocolate

M- medium body with moderate-low carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel than finishes a bit flat

O- I prefer this to the regular version as it seems to have more milk chocolate notes

Black in color. Poured with a short, rich, dark mocha foam with good retention. Medium high dark chocolate aromas with a sweet cream and light roasted malt notes. Medium full bodied with a thick, creamy feel through the middle and pleasant boozy warmth near the finish. Medium high, sweet chocolate flavors with medium light roasted malt. Similar to the aroma there’s a sweet cream flavor beneath the chocolateyness. Medium light, lazy hop bitterness through the middle cuts the sweetness just a bit. Bitterness shuts off like a light bulb at the end with a pleasant touch of boozy heat followed by a semi-dry finish and yes, you guessed it a light chocolatey malt aftertaste. Probably the most chocolate character I’ve ever experienced in a beer. But despite the chocolatey sweetness, it’s pretty drinkable. The bitterness could’ve been a little higher and the roasted malts were petty muted, but I guess it is a sweet stout and overall was true to style and pretty good.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is strong of milk chocolate. Taste is chocolate, lactose, slightly sweet, touch of hops. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a very good beer, the best I have had from this brewery.

12 oz bottle, no date

Black, tan colored head. Huge fudgey aroma. Tastes like chocolate milk - but not too sweet or cloying. Thicker bodied. Great dessert beer.

20 oz stout glass.
Pours almost black..fairly thick, with little lacing or head.
Smells of rich sweet chocolate, and a dash of malts. Tastes of rich, sweet and savory chocolate(s), with a mild hint of vanilla. Very smooth, with a slight bitterness, that doesn't take away from the malted backbone.
Overall, a good stout that delivers on its description.

Very generic & pedestrian sweet stout, but it doesn't do anything bad. Expected light roasted malt flavor, no real chocolate beyond a bit on the nose, maybe a tad watery

Poured into a custom pint glass: color is black, solid, dense looking, head is tan with fine bubbles; head presents at least 1/2 inch thick, lingers well and remains a solid top with some bubbly lacing on the glass.

Smell is moderately strong cocoa, chocolate, milky/creamy like sweetness.

Flavor is similiar to the aroma with strong cocoa/chocolate flavor, light malt, hints of lactose and cream, subtle hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel is moderate with decent carbonation and strong lingering cocoa/lactose sweetness.

Overall, a good beer with great presentation but a bit strong for me personally on the sweetness.

Pours opaque, black in color with 1/3 inch head. Taste is sweet milk chocolate, white sugar, cream, and light cocoa. Lots of depth of chocolate flavors. Medium heavy bodied, sweet, and tasty. Right up there with the best of Lancaster's beers. Nice sweet surprise. Will look for this one again.

Although taste is personal, I really enjoyed the sweet and then bitter hop on the sides of the tongue in this offering from tap at Lancaster Brewing Company. I highly recommend this beer to those who enjoy sweet and bitter!
