*12 oz bottle slightly chilled into a pint glass.

Pours a hazy amber color with hints of orange throughout. Holds a light, thin, white lacy head with very little retention.

Slight strawberry extract aroma and a slightly acidic smell eradicating from it. Maybe a twang of metal in there? Kind of odd. However, hops are not very apparant.

Sipping, I am hit with a strong semi-strawberry flavor along with a slight grainy wheat flavor on the tip of my tongue. The body through the ending is not very pleasing, in that no hops hit my palate at all, and a little drying kills off some flavor at the swallow.

Tingly carbonation up front on my tongue, giving way to a light body with a drying finish. Not bad really, but nothing spectacular.

Actually, reviewing this beer, I found that I didn't like it. However, to be honest, my true feelings contradict my review in that it is very easy drinking, and would make a very nice session brew especially for "fruit heads". However, it's worth a try anyways, but not Lancaster Brewing's best offering.

Liked it.

Thanks to mikejmadden, who sent me this along with a host of others as part of Newbie BIF '05.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this wasn't even remotely sweet. Tart, yes. Sweet, no. And bitter. And the strawberry was rather subtle. Very interesting beer and a welcome change of pace. Nothing even close to it can be found here in ol' Bammy.

Not much here to write about. However, it's not as bad as some of the reviews. Leah didn't like it, but I didn't think it was too bad. Very drinkable I think!

Kumquat orange with no hint of strawberry red. A vigorous pour resulted in a feisty cap that had to be slurped to be contained. The pastel orange foam looks decent enough and is starting to deposit a passable amount of lace... that has no sticktoitiveness in the end.

The nose is faintly fruity with a modest amount of musky hoppiness. I might have been able to guess Hallertau, but would have whiffed on Cascade. Where's the strawberry? The brewery says that SWB contains the 'subtle suggestion' of strawberry. If the aroma is any guide, it's more like the 'unsubstantiated rumor'.

If you like wheat lagers with barely any fruit flavor, then hop aboard the Strawberry Wheat Beer train. The base beer is a rather blase vehicle that contributes a hint of toasted wheat graininess. The hops (again, Hallertau especially) provide a surprising amount of bitterness that seems out of place.

I'm able to appreciate the 'subtle suggestion' of strawberries, but I'm not 100% convinced that I could have identified the exact fruit if blinded. If I could humbly suggest a few changes, the list might look like this: less bitterness, more Cascade hop flavor and more strawberry flavor. Not exactly a complete overhaul.

The mouthfeel is actually pretty nice. It's light-medium for the style with a pleasing amount of smoothness and an agreeable amount of carbonation. No light fizziness here.

I've been impressed with two of the four Lancaster offerings that I've had so far (Gold Star Pilsner and Milk Stout). Strawberry Wheat Beer isn't horrible, but fruited wheat lagers don't easily impress lovers of big beer. That's okay. I fully understand that lovers of big beer don't pay the bills.

Regular browner 12 oz.er with an inconspicuous label explaining "Not Pasturized" "Brewed Naturally Without Preservatives" and "Wheat beer with Strawberry flavor added." Hmmm... added?

Slightly hazy orange hued pour with a razor thin white cap.

Scents of strawberry yogurt and lemons overtake the aroma.

First swigs: Under accented strawberry notes and a bland ale mix to a modest offering. Overall sour lemony citrous flavors take over the flavors. Bitter lemon peel notes pop out.

Light to medium bodied character.

Last swigs: WOW!!! Had this on draught a while back and it was darn near an excellent beer. This is suffering from some ailment that was incurred somewhere between here and the brewery. Darn! Was looking forward to trying this. I am thinking that this one doesn't travel well in bottles, especially since this brewery is so close to me. Dissapointed, gravely. Boo-hoo. I will seek this out to balance out the results.

Beer is good. Happy beering.

Extremely clear, light coppery colored pour, thin meager white head, and a couple sparse dots of lace. Aroma is not the most exciting. Light sweet wheaty malt, perhaps corn-like, with a sweet syrupy strawberry cake-like scent. Taste is about the same and reminds me of plastic a little. This was better when I had it on tap, but not by much I recall. The beer alone is pretty unentertaining, and the actual strawberry flavor itself is even more disappointing. I was hoping for more of a fresh jam-like taste including some natural strawberry tartness. There's some kind of tartness here but its not doing it for me. This has more like fake strawberry candy flavor. There's a slight grape-like dryness through the finish also.

Can't win every time...

Appearance: Reddish amber color, scant head, no lacing.

Smell: When first poured, a big, punchy strawberry aroma was noticed from a few feet away. As the beer sat for a bit, though, the smell faded into a nice strawberry odor which didn't have that artificial smell you'd get from a cheap strawberry ice cream. Odor was pretty natural. A faint bready smell was noticed hiding in the background somewhere.

Taste: Strawberry sweetness predominates, almost to the exclusion of anything else. There is a hint of the wheat beer taste, but it's drowned out by the fruit.

Mouthfeel: CO2 level was nice, no real warmth of alcohol noted. Sweet aftertaste really lingers.

Drinkability: I think this might be a good beer for a dessert once every few months, but it's a bit to cloying for me. I'll stick to my Cherry Wheat SA, thanks.

Poured a nice hazy, caramel and reddish-brown color with no head. Amazing aroma of fresh strawberries, makes you think of summer. Light carbination. At the first sip you get a burst of strawberry, and then you are left feeling as though you just ate a piece of bubbalicious bubblegum. Kind of brings you back to gradeschool! Clean and watery, very refreshing. Good and summery session beer.

Wheat beers may not be my thing, but this beer is worth trying

Appearance - slighty cloudy, not much head in the glass.

Aroma - Fresh strawberries. I'm not sure if they use the real thing or if it is flavoring. I would like to think they use fresh strawberries, it smells enticing.

Taste - with the aroma I expected a much more strawberry flavor, but it was not that intense. It definitly had a fruitiness to it, but it was not overpowering, whihc I liked.

Mouthfeel - A load of carbonation in this brew, it makes your tongue tingle.

drinkability - if you like fruity wheat beers this is one to try. A nice after dinner brew.

Orange with a thin, bubbly white head that retains as a creamy ring. Smells pretty much like strawberry shortcake to my nose. Warm, creamy fruit extract, wheat, and some yeast. Sweet and slightly tangy flavors...strawberry juice soaked shortcake. Medium and creamy smooth with a slight crispness. Uncomplex, but unoffensive.

Purchased "for the ladies" prior to heading south for vacation. I also heard about mixing this with their milk stout to make a dandy mixer, so I thought I'd have a few before bastardizing it. No born on or freshness dating. It was purchased from Beltway in Baltimore, and they don't seem to keep stale beer lying around. Anywho...

Poured a super clear amber. Saw wheat beer on the label, and expected some cloudiness for some reason.Lacing and head retention didn't hold up well, even for a low ABV brew.

Nice smellin brew, with a mingling of wheaty malts with hints of strawberry jam.

Overall, I came off thinking that the mouthfeel was a bit watery, the flavor needed more, and the finish just wasn't right. Plus, the ladies didn't dig it, so I sheepishly finished the sixer, instead of it going to waste. Very light wheat malts are accented with strawberry. At least it actually tastes like they use real strawberry, no syrups or unnaturalness coming through--I just wanted more. It hinted at strawberry and hinted at nice wheat.

Drinkability was off due to the issues previously mentioned. Finished a little dry and biting. Not bad, not great.

12oz bottle purchased as part of a mixed case from Buck Beverage, Quarryville, PA, while on vacation.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1 1/4" off-white head over the clear dark golden brew. Head fades slowly, with sticky white lacing. Aroma is creamy strawberries with a light wheat undercurrent. Flavor follows the nose, strawberry upfront, with character coming on in the middle and carrying the rest of the load. Mouthfeel seems too light for me, but I'd guess that they were aiming for light, so we'll give them that. Drinkability is diminshed a bit as the strawberry becomes more and more obviously artificial, but overall not bad for a thirst-quench style summer brew.

Enjoyed on tap at the brew pub.
Served as a medium amber beer with moderate white puffy head.
Smell is sweet and malty with a light strawberry note.
Taste is notable for strawberries, but only very slightly.
The mild strawberry taste makes for a very refreshibng beer, without being overpowering.
Very nice fruit beer.

Pours a reddish-orange color. No head, no lacing. Medium-thin mouthfeel, low carbonation. Aroma starts inviting of strawberry, but quickly fades.
Weak wheat base beer to begin with, and the overpowering strawberry syrup flavor is typical of every strawberry wheat I have ever tried. Its hard to get good strawberry flavor into beer without it tasting like cough syrup.
No hints of wheat flavors, banana/clove/gum.

This is one of those beers best drank ice cold.
