Nice head, reddish appearance. aroma is fruity; you know you're drinking strawberries here. this beer is smooth; creamy in the mouth. The strawberry flavor is there but not overpowering. the hefe base comes through, but is not over powering. This is one of the few beers I can stomach warm but best served chilled. the after-taste is almost crème. Reminds me of a strawberry cream soda but with the underlying hefe taste. For me the best fruit beer on the market -does not hold quality well, however. Bought some in August and by December it had lost it's flavor. So you can't stock up too much on your next trip to Lancaster Pa.

Presentation - Poured into River Horse pint glass

Appearance - Pale, amber coloured body, white head, good lacing

Smell - Strawberries

Taste - Strawberries with a good amount of maltiness, with hoppiness only there to provide balance

Mouthfeel - Light, refreshing

Drinkability - Sessionable

Overall - A great fruit beer for those summer days and those times when you need a break.

I'm not a wheat beer guy. I especially don't like fruit in my beers. Here's my exception. Crisp. Tart. Light. Refreshing. Perfect for a warm day or a day at the pool or beach.

Poured a nice hazy, caramel and reddish-brown color with no head. Amazing aroma of fresh strawberries, makes you think of summer. Light carbination. At the first sip you get a burst of strawberry, and then you are left feeling as though you just ate a piece of bubbalicious bubblegum. Kind of brings you back to gradeschool! Clean and watery, very refreshing. Good and summery session beer.

blurry transparent peachy amber-yellow with minima head action and no lacing.

slight strawberry note with the sourish wheat. something else emerges like a fermented/fresh piece of fruit....or marinated dried apricots. interesting. a creamy orange popsicle smell. dipped in a hefe...

a sip and the creaminess really comes through nicely. and the strawberry note, tho minimal, makes a stand nicely. it's missing the solid structure that SA Cherry Wheat exhibits, but the fruit flavor is much more enjoyable. and embedded in each swallow. the mouthfeel is perfectly balanced in both carbonation/crispness and smoothness. the finish leaves a nice residue of sparkling strawberry notes. very nice. and unexpected. it's nice to be surprised. i'll enjoy a few of these on a warm spring/summer day soon. i'd love to session this with an alternation of this and the SA Blackberry Witbier!

Very nice fruit-wheat beer! I was wondering if they could pull it off with strawberries (my favorite berry) and I was not disappointed! As a wheat beer, it had an excellent light, slightly cloudy look. It went down as smooth as any other wheat beer, too. It's smell was great, a wonderful wheat beer smell with a very nice hint of strawberries. The taste was great! Very good wheat beer with a wonderful strawberry tone to it, great after taste, and smooth all the way down.

Fruit beers can be hard to describe due to the inherent negative sentiment of the beer geek. Due to this fact I waited until I drank more than a few of these Strawberry Wheats before I reviewed it. I've been more impressed with each successive brew. It pours a deep amber with the barest hint of red around the edges. Aroma is not overwhelming, but has some subtle strawberry notes along with some toasty malt. Taste is of a substantial wheat beer with some nice backbone of barley malt. A bit of bread, biscuit and toasted malt give this beer a medium body and allow the strawberry to stay in the background and not overwhelm the malt.
Fresh strawberry lingers in the finish and marries well with the dominate malt flavors. A fine summer refresher, heartily recommended .

I'll admit I'm slightly impartial to this beer as I grew up near Lancaster. However, I do give honest reviews (see profile on other Lancaster beers).

Although others don't seem too found of this brew, I certainly think it's fantastic.

Not one usually for fruit beers, this is my one exception.

Pours a nice light lager color.

Smell is wonderful. Bountiful strawberry scenets mixed in perfectly with the beer.

Taste and smooth and rich. Perfectly balanced.

Easy drinking beer, perfect for summer meals with corn on the cob!

Golden with a nice full off-white head, nice active carbonation and sheets of lace (wondering if that effect was from slight aging - either way it was nice). Light subtle strawberry aroma and flavor; it's nice to not be overpowering and lessens the essence effect. Light bodied but not thin or too watery.

Pick this one up over Pete's Strawberry Blonde any day !!!

I tried this at the brewery in Lancaster.

Appearance: Reddish gold in a pint glass. About 1 inch of thick head comprised of small bubbles. Good head retention and some lacing. Good carbonation.

Smell: Wheat malt with a hint of strawberry. Nice mixture, nothing overpowering anything else.

Taste: Again, nice mixture. A bit of strawberry at the start, followed by malt with a hint of hops and then more strawberry. A slight hint of lingering sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body, which makes this a good hot day brew.

Drinkability: A great summer beer. I would definately get again. The next time I am in the Lancaster area I plan on picking up a growler of it.

Pours an orangish-amber into a pint glass with very little foam. Smell is very faint - a little bit of strawberry, and not much else. The taste, however, is just fantastic. The wheat beer flavor is at the forefront, but the strawberry smooths it out wonderfully. It's not overly sweet, nor is it entirely fruit-foreward like some other fruit beers (i.e. New Glarus.) A surprising find, and worth a try if you see it.

A nice neighbor lady gave this to me. So of course I had to try it... heh.

Pours a medium amber with a nice head. The head dissipates quickly, but alot of carbonation remains.

The nose is faint strawberry and caramel.

Taste is a nice blend of malt and strawberry. Alot of times fruit beers can be overdone; but they did a good job on this one. Quite tasty, actually.

Would definitely buy this.

Poured from 12oz bottle.

A- Pours a golden orange color with hints of a pinkish tone to it. One finger white head shows low retention. Light spotty lace left on the glass.

S- Wheat comes through first in the nose. This is followed up with a nice balance of strawberry. A little artifical smelling but this doesn't destroy the aroma in the slightest. A nice balance between the wheat and strawberry.

T- There is once again only two parts to this beer which is wheat and strawberry (shocker). The strawberry places a bigger flavor than the wheat and acts as the underbody to the beer as a whole. Wheat acts as a secondary flavor which balanced out the strawberry. To me it had a light strawberry milk flavor to it without the milk heavy flavor.

M- Light mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Strawberry and wheat are left not only on the palate but follow through long into the aftertaste. No real alcohol flavor at all and shows very light drying on the palate. No off flavors shown while drinking. This beer is balanced perfect for the style it said it was.

O- This beer was exactly what it said it was. Strawberry forward with a wheat backing...and this is what it said it was going to be. ABV isn't high and you really couldn't taste it at all in the beer while drinking. Overall if you want a beer that is strawberry forward(not heavy) masterpiece flavor and drinkability wise then try this one out.

This is one of the best fruit beers I have had to date. Pours darker than I expected, somewhere between amber and gold. A whiff of strawberries and grass are detectable in the nose, and the strawberry aroma becomes stronger and sweeter as it warms. Flavor has a mild wheat feel to it, very subtle hops, and some strawberry flavor in the finish. Definitely not a sweet tasting fruit beer. Mouthfeel has a touch of carbonation. This one's more beer than fruit, which is a good thing.

The beer pours a gold color with a slight red hue to it. It has a nice white lace head. The aroma is good. It has a sweet scent to it with a mild aroma of strawberries. The taste is good also. It has good balance between the wheat malts and strawberries. It is sweet and very tastey. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a fine wheat brew; a great drinking beer.

A: Nice pour copper color very thin headbut still lacing present, bit cloudy as expected from a wheat.

S: Smells like running thru a strawberry patch, no really does.

T: Not too much fruity flavor but enough to say Strawberry and May mmm with hints of maybe vanilla.

M: Not a whole lot of carbonation going on but a nice flow over the taste buds.

D:Very drinkable... all year long cellar abit of strawberry wheat to keep me in stock all summer at least.

pours a light brown with a minimal head. slightly cloudy but not in excess. This has a nice strawberry cream soda aroma with some maltiness. It is definately a wheat. It starts light and refreshing. then the creaminess kicks in, then the wheat bite on the top of the palate. it finishes with the strawberry cream soda taste. Mouthfeel goes from light to creamy, wheat bite, to a fuller fruity creaminess. I very much enjoyed this but could not make it a habit.

Enjoyed on tap at the brew pub.
Served as a medium amber beer with moderate white puffy head.
Smell is sweet and malty with a light strawberry note.
Taste is notable for strawberries, but only very slightly.
The mild strawberry taste makes for a very refreshibng beer, without being overpowering.
Very nice fruit beer.

Poured from a 12 oz. brown bottle into a Sam Adams pint glass.
A: Orange amber in color, 1/2 inch of whitish head. No lacing.
S: Fruity & floral, with a lingering sugary scent. Not much strawberry detectable, honestly.
T: Malty and sugary, with some wheat/grain flavors. Sweet and creamy throughout. The strawberry flavors rise up towards the finish and linger in the back of the mouth.
M: Tingly but smooth. Medium carbonation with a creamy finish.
D: Pretty good. Not overly sweet like other fruity beers.
Overall, I was impressed by this beer. I expected it to be artificially sweet, but instead it was mostly a wheaty lager with a hint of fruitiness.

Poured out a light amber brew with a 2 finger head. Mildly carbonated.Sweet malty smell with strawberry mildly mixed in.Taste is mild,,great summer beer, slightly sweet with hints of strawberry within.A slightly tart flavor comes through after sipping that lingers a bit. Mouthfeel is nothing special but i think it fits this beer. I could drink quite a few of these.

My brother calls this one the nectar of the gods.... so much to teach him...

This beer is an excellent choice with BBQ or as a light summer refresher.

Taste is of a light wheat beer, very crisp, slightly overcarbonated (this would be the only thing i would change, toning down the carbonation would bring the tartness of the strawberries foward and give some of that wheat malt a little room to breathe), and perfectly tart. I think Lancaster found an excellent balance on the use of strawberries with malt. Highly recommended brew.

PS. if you ever go to the brewpub or get your hands on some milk stout, ask or make a chocolate covered strawberry, half strawberry wheat, half milk stout. Insanly good combo!!!

Served on-tap in a 5 oz. sampler glass.

A: Pale straw-gold color. Thin head, lacing.

S: Strawberry notes obvious.

T: Sweet, very strong strawberry flavor. Didn't taste it when served from a bottle, but definitely when served on-tap.

M: Smooth, but a little flat.

D: I could definitely reach for another.

I recommend getting this beer on-tap rather if you are looking for the distinct strawberry flavor. If you only want a hint of flavor, go for the bottle.

Most recently had from the tap into a pint glass. This is my wife's favorite beer, so I try it quite often.

Pours a very nice reddish-tan with a medium-sized head. Very fruity aroma with little hop action. Taste isn't over-the-edge-overpowering with strawberries...it's actually a very nice balance. The strawberries really come out with a little grassy hint in the aftertaste. I've never not enjoyed drinking one...I wouldn't have more than one in a sitting, though. A more enjoyable fruit beer.

WOW! Smells like a strawberry icecream cone!!! No joke. Tell me if you don't agree. The very first taste up until the last reminded me of those strawberry wafers...you know, the ones that are like .99 cents, and come in vanilla and chocolate too? This REALLY DID remind me of the strawberry ones! That's not a bad thing, considering the strawberry ones are my favorite. Ok, so I'm a mental case. Anyway, it's a very smooth and refreshing summertime brew, and I really liked it. Was more impressed than I thought I'd be after trying it for the first time. Had a little sweetness to it that I enjoyed, and had NO bitterness or hoppy bite whatsoever. A nice "switch" from the hoppy ales that all micros seem to be doing. Unique and more like a desert. I'd try it again, and I recommend it to anyone who likes a sweet treat now and then...and who's not afraid to try something WITHOUT ALL THE HOPPINESS that most "beer snobs" seem to think is all that matters. Give'r a try and I'm sure you won't hate it whatsoever. Again, maybe a good "desert" beer or one to sip while sittin' in the shade on a hot summer day. I wouldn't wanna down a bunch of these, as they're a bit too sweet for that, but again, a nice change of pace and a "sweet treat" to satisfy the "sweet side" of your tastes. Bottoms UP!

Golden Yellow with orange hues and light haze. Poured with a short, bright white foam with moderate retention that reduced to a wispy cap. Definitive, tart strawberry aroma resting on a firm wheat malt aroma. Sweet sugary strawberry and bready malt notes on the edges. No esters aside from the strawberry fruitiness. No hop aromas. Aromas are medium to medium high and well balanced. Medium to Medium high body with high carbonation and a smooth feel. Medium to medium high sweet, lightly sugary strawberry and wheat malt flavors. Fruity tartness around the edges of the mouth leave a sticky, strawberry bubble gum flavor. Meidum low bitterness through the middle balances the sweetness a bit. Finished semi-dryly with and fairly cleanly after a last sweet strawberry soda flavor snap. No hop flavors. The balance leans toward the fruity sweetness. However, the malt and hop bitterness team nicely to calm the sweetness to make this a pretty drinkable beer.
