Light and fruity, which will throw you off if you're not accustomed to it. Otherwise, refreshing without being overbearing.

I'm not a wheat beer guy. I especially don't like fruit in my beers. Here's my exception. Crisp. Tart. Light. Refreshing. Perfect for a warm day or a day at the pool or beach.

Golden Yellow with orange hues and light haze. Poured with a short, bright white foam with moderate retention that reduced to a wispy cap. Definitive, tart strawberry aroma resting on a firm wheat malt aroma. Sweet sugary strawberry and bready malt notes on the edges. No esters aside from the strawberry fruitiness. No hop aromas. Aromas are medium to medium high and well balanced. Medium to Medium high body with high carbonation and a smooth feel. Medium to medium high sweet, lightly sugary strawberry and wheat malt flavors. Fruity tartness around the edges of the mouth leave a sticky, strawberry bubble gum flavor. Meidum low bitterness through the middle balances the sweetness a bit. Finished semi-dryly with and fairly cleanly after a last sweet strawberry soda flavor snap. No hop flavors. The balance leans toward the fruity sweetness. However, the malt and hop bitterness team nicely to calm the sweetness to make this a pretty drinkable beer.

A - A light gold with moderate head releases to a thin layer, a bit hazy, but not as much as I would expect in a good wheat
S - I'm getting apple juice and secondarily hints of red wine
T - This is just ok at best, subtle strawberry flavors, you will either like this or not, but the flavors overall are a bit weak; no hop, no malt...nothing noteworthy here
F - seemed a bit watery and flat, but with moderate carbonation (I know, not sure that really makes sense)
O - I drank half of a bottle and that was enough for me to decide that I didn't really care whether or not I finished the other half; a boring "beer"

Had this years ago and never reviewed it - finally had it again last night at the Cloverleaf since this was the only time that they had it on tap during the colder weather months. I wasn't that impressed with this beer the first time around and that was also the case here, even though this wasn't anything that I had a hard time downing. It just didn't feel like beer to me and if you're looking for hops, you'll still be searching into an empty bottle or pint glass once you're done finishing this off...

This had a dark blonde hue to it as there seemed to be a bit of syrupy red mixed in as well. Not a potent head but the lacing was present along the back side of my pint glass after every sip. Hardly any hops to the nose and even less in the taste - this felt like a flat soda with some syrup thrown in for good measure. Wheat? It's in there but there wasn't any trace of it except for some sour grass and sharpness to the grain-like flavor that could be discerned around the strawberry. Somewhat slick, the syrup made this go down easy but it felt like something I would have had when I was underage at a wedding.

Had I wanted another, it wouldn't have been that hard as I didn't feel or taste the alcohol at any part of my experience with this. While not a drain pour, only someone looking for a good "lawnmower beer" or someone into fruit will find delight in this. Otherwise, the strawberry syrup/juice/puree was too strong to appreciate any other redeeming characteristics this may have had and it's beers like this that make me stay away from this style. Good for reminding me what I might have imbibed 10 or 20 years ago.
