Color is a curious mix of light orange, gold, dark yellow and faint brown. No head though, even when pouring fast! The smell nose is oakiness, which is odd. A roasted butterscotch also in the mix. Like most mexican beers, a doughy yeast comes on strong after swirling. Medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium-light sour taste. Lot’s of vanilla maltose, however its not overpowering. A sprinkle of nuttiness and a bit of pizza dough mouthfeel. Quenchable to the thirst.

Poured into a Victoria tumbler glass.
Look: Clear golden body with a white head that dissipates completely and leaves no lacing.
Aroma: Sweet on the nose with light grassiness and grains.
Taste: Clean, slightly sweet and metallic.
Mouthfeel: Light, goes down easy.
Overall: Judging this from a snobby glass makes it much less enjoyable than it actually is. Out of the bottle on a Mexican beach, this beer is fantastic. Not so much under my craft snobbery eye.

A: Pours a straw yellow color with a small, white head on top. Very little head retention and practically no lacing whatsoever.
S: Some sweet corn, grainy malt and an extremely faint grassy aroma.
T: A little better than the aroma. Heavier malt presence, with some sweetness and a bit of corn, but not very much. The grass component is a bit stronger as well.
M: Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Crisp and easy drinking.
O: Not the best Mexican beer, but better than many. Would drink this over Corona/Sol everday of the week.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has pale yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is sweet, malty. Taste is malts, some sweetness, a bit of corn. Feels light in the mouth and overall, a refreshing but mediocre beer.

Pours a clear gold with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of grain, corn flake, and sugar aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, frosted corn flake, and fruit flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a below average beer that is fairly drinkable, but it's quite sweet and corn flake like all around.
Serving type: bottle.

Montejo looks far classier than it actually is; its crystalline clarity, microscopic bubbles and faint whitish hue give it the air of champagne, especially when held up into the light. Its fragmentary head and the diminutive lacing it is just barely able to contrive are probably a little more indicative of the beer's level of quality and craftsmanship.
The bouquet smells alright - provided you don't mind corn syrup. I appreciate that Mexico's culture, cuisine and history are entwined with corn, and while I can overlook a little corn being used in the mash, I have to insist that it makes a much worse smelling grain than wheat, barley or rye. This particular scent is compounded by a chemical-like aura.
Corn is also obvious in the taste but it's curiously not nearly so disagreeable. In fact, it's actually quite palatable. I'm not sure what makes this so but if the Mexicans would be so kind as to share this secret with the rest of Latin America, the big producers in North America and Europe and the rice brewers in Japan, that would be much appreciated.
As inoffensive and palatable as it is, I'm glad to find there's no aftertaste. The bubbles are energetic enough to wash a lot of the sweetness away and, with only a minimal bitterness, the palate is left with little to remember the beer by. And having had the good mind to pair it with corn tortillas and corn salsa, I can say it works well with salty snack foods.
If the world's beer drinkers wanted a better light-bodied, quenching and characterless beer for their patio and poolside drinking, I'd suggest Montejo rather than Grupo Modelo's more famous brand, Corona. For my palate, I find it much more agreeable and much closer to passing for a decent, commonplace beer rather than offensive, chemical-laden water.

Appearance - This is a light yellow in color with a slight shade of orange. The bright white head came up easy and actually showed some retention.
Smell - The grain is light and easy here if a bit on the stale side.
Taste - The grain turns corny at the taste with an offputting sweetness.
Mouthfeel - This light-bodied lager was smooth with a light carbonation that gave it a refreshing character.
Drinkability - Parts of this beer begged to be dumped but the positive aspects of it just did keep it out of the sink.
Note: I think this is only the second time in almost 2,000 reviews that I have five different ratings that none are the same. Bizarre . . .

As others have noted, I don't see any comparison between this and a pilsener. There just isn't that much there. It was a clear yellow with no head. Not much aroma, maybe a little graininess. A vague, sweet taste. Couldn't find any hops. Refreshing on a hot day, but that's about it.

Pilsner my ass. For a pils, this is a big underperformer. Like Estrella, it hints at good pilsner qualities, but doesn't go all the way. It is most unoffensive and can wash down food on a hot day. I got mine as a 5 peso upgrade from water with a lunch in Cancun, and I guess it wasn't horrible for 5 pesos. Still, no hops or decent malt profile.

Pours a finger and half of head on a clear medium straw body.
The aroma is mild dry grain and honey.
The taste starts with a little malt sweet, then touch of lemon bitterness and finishes with a sweet note.
The texture is crisp but too fizzy.
It's nice enough, except for the texture.

Features a white head over clear straw yellow/golden liquid. Light, clean and lemony/grassy malt nose. Taste is a pleasant sharp, slightly metallic hop not and light maltiness, crisp and quite drinkable. Finishes clean, with a late hop ending, not too bad to enjoy actually.

Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass.
Aroma- Has a corn and malt smell, fairly inviting.
Appearance- Pours a crystal clear light golden color with a medium sized white head.
Taste- Has a very refreshing flavor of malt and corn, do not confuse this with a micro brew.
Palate- A light bodied beer with moderate carbonation
Overall- this is a great session beer for tailgating or fishing. It is not a craft beer and I don't think anyone who drinks this will ever be confused by that. But it is a very good beer to quench a thirst and it is phenomenal on a hot day.

Meh?
I was in Chicago for a week, and every evening on the way back to the hotel I'd stop by some convenience stores and see what beer they had. I'd get a slice of pizza and a six-pack and head back to the hotel.
I saw this. I like to try new things so I grabbed a can. I wasn't interested in drinking the greatest new craft beer. I just wanted something light to go with the pizza before it was sleepy time. This did the trick. It's not heavy. It's almost like Corona Light. It's got the light golden color, barely any aroma and a taste of cheap beer. I'm not going to write a song about it, but it was okay and did the trick.
