I've never seen this beer before so i gave it a try but it's just like all the rest of the mass produced mexican beers...just like i figured it would be.

Bought in a bottle-never hear dof this beer before. Almost as goos as carta blanca. Defininitely will buy this again if it comes to my state. Blows Corona away and is among the top Mexican beers

One of the best Mexican beers I've ever had - almost comes off as a milder white beer sans any of the spices, but is incredibly drinkable and (in a can) no skunkiness of which to note. Blows Corona out of the water, though that's not difficult, and is on-par with Modelo in taste and quality, only being a bit lighter.

I purchased a can of Estrella for $2.29 USD in Lincoln Heights, CA/USA.
Look: Estrella has barely any foam.
Smell: Estrella had a mild aroma of fermented grain.
Taste: Estrella had a very mild flavour of grains.
Feel: Estrella had medium carbonation.
Overall: Estrella is a beer for people who enjoy mild flavours of grain.

This beer keeps its head longer than most other pale lagers. It is definitely different than a Corona or Modelo in that this one is very light and has a slight sweetness the other Mexican brands. Great beer for a hot summer day to have while BBQing. Not one of the best beers out there, but it is good for what it sets out to be. It's a good cheap Mexican beer

A- Pouring this one really surprised me because of the head that it retains. Normally, a beer in this style just pours clear and medium to light golden yellow with a head that is fizzy and then gone. This one on the other hand has a small, somewhat creamy head that sticks around a decent bit. Looks as it should in the glass.

S- Grainy and extremely light malt notes greet the nose first. The usual, strong, 'skunky' scent from Mexican imports is not there in the scent, but in its place, a light, sweet smell pops up.

T- Light and crisp right up front, this one starts out very predictably. The lightest malts possible are the dominating flavor at the beginning, providing just a bit of sweetness as well. The middle and back end of the drink is mostly just a continuation of the light sweetness that sums up in a crispy finish that is quickly off of the tongue.

M- Light and easy to drink and very thirst quenching. That's all that needs to be said.

Overall, this is a slightly better version of (insert Mexican import brand here). It does have a leg up on most of its competitors just because it lacks the skunky flavor and has just a touch of sweetness.

This beer has just recently started being marketed here in Northern California so I thought I'd give it a try. It looks like a typical Mexican pale lager and smells and tastes pretty much the same. Really nothing to distinguish it from Corona or Pacifico except I prefer those brands more. I can see myself knocking down a few of these on a hot summer day, but not until they knock the price down a little. $7.99 a six pack. I think naught.

Clear gold with one finger of white head that departs rather quickly. No lacing.
Smell is fresh corn chip mineral water and a whiff of grassy hops.
Taste is corn chip mineral water some bready malts and the grassy hop shows up toward the end.
Mouthfeel is almost medium mostly from the high carbonation. Finish is dry and pretty neutral.
Usually I don't like the low abv beers due to thin body and watery flavor but I did enjoy this one more than I expected.
Good hot weather beer.

Says Estrella Jalisco on the label but I am sure this is the same beer even though it says it is brewed in Guadalajara.

Clear yellow colored beer with a small white colored head.

Smells of powdery yeast and mild sweet malt. Faint caramel. Little bit of noble hop it comes out in the scent of grass. Corn is detectable.

Starts out mildly sweet with a fairly strong mineral water flavor. Quite fizzy the carbonation level is high. Quite clean flavored no detectable flavor defects. Toasted grain and faint grass. But this is very mildly flavored.

Mouthfeel is seltzer water.

Overall exactly what it pretends to be, an unoffensive Mexican Lager. But this is WAY better than a funky Corona and a very good hot weather beer. Just don't compare it to a World class German Lager.

12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass

A: Pours a very pale yellow, very clear, average amount of carbonation streaming up the middle, no head retention, no lacing, looks like an average adjunct lager.

A: Old musty cardboard smell, hint of skunk, smells like a watered down Corona, not much going on.

T: Some skunk up front, some maltiness in the finish, very basic, like the aroma, it taste like a watered down Corona.

M: Very light, crisp finish, very drinkable.

O: Taste and smells like a Corona light, faint skunk with an easy drinkability, there are better Mexican beers out there.

325ml bottle poured into pint glass 29/8/12

A clear pale yellow with lots of tiny bubbles feeding a short lived finger of foam that leaves a couple partial rings of lace before it falls

S faint skunk, some green apple, dry cereal and cooked veggies, its not offensive but not very good either

T much like the smell but with a little sour lemon, again leaves something to be desired

M watery but well carbonated, just a faint corny aftertaste, pretty average

O about on par with other Mexican lagers, nothing special but I finished it without problems

perhaps I´ll find a gem if I keep looking here in Mexico but I´m not getting my hopes up that´s for sure

Look: Very pale-crystal yellow, lots of bubbles, poor head and very thin; Smell: A lot of corn that gets confused wih vegetable oil, but not offensive; Taste: Corn miexed with lightly smoked malt and mineral water; Mouthfeel: Crisp, slightly bitter, very smooth body and high carbonation; Drinkability: Easy to drink, very good to entertain chilangos drunkenness.

It pours, smells and tastes like any other mexi beer. Its light gold very clear with a little of hops. Of course its easy to drink, but has not alcohol or mouthfeel.

HUGE thanks to biegaman for bringing this to the tasting on Cinco de Mayo, everybody knows my favourite style is a light Mexican lager!

Pours a clear yellow/straw, no head, no lace, pretty damned ugly, even for macro lager standards. Smell is apple juice, citrus, musty rubber hose goodness, nice! Taste is very bland, honey, some corn, DMS, citrus, weak finish. Mouthfeel is light bodied, medium carbonation, very watery. Thanks Jan!

Sampled in celebration of Cinco de Mayo 2007! Probably my favourite themed day of bad beer and Mexican stereotypes!
Looked like water, maybe even a little light in colour to be water. Hardly enough yellow to even be called yellow. No head formed, even off of a completely upright 90 degree pour. Smells kinda like the stale water in a hose and musty potatoe chips. A little sting to the carbonation. No real flavour other than a little corn chip like taste, it's the adjuncts and it's pretty bad. It's as if they used the water from an old well. "Claro" is right, and otherwise there isn't much more to be said.

I made a big mistake in picking this one up, totally needed a lime. It hints at being a decent pils, but mediocrity abounds. Tastes like a mix of Bohemia, Miller Lite and Corona. The malt flavor is almost pleasant, but then cheap beer flavors rush in and knock that out of your memory. Avoid this one. It's no Corona Light, but you can do better.

Golden yellow with big bubbles and a decent, white head. Pretty good retention.

Aroma is kinda nice with malt sweetness, a touch of corn, and some noticeable German noble-type hops presence.

Taste is sweet and light, smooth and a bit spicy at the finish with the bit of hops. Aftertaste is of lingering malts.

A smooth-drinking beer that seemed a bit better than BMC or Corona, but stil fairly similar in style. Would be very refreshing.

a beer from the light lager family without the taste of rice and corn accentuated, i drink this beer for first time the past year because its no sold in all the country, but is good in my appreciation, smell like areal beer, taste is low by the average, drinkability is for a take 4 or 5 only.

Extremely lager. NOt tastes bad, but it is a little more like water. It has been distributed widely now in the whole country, but I already knew its flavor. PErhaps the beers they are bringing now here are a little stronger. That happens very often here, the flavor changes.

This is one of the regional beers from Cervecería Modelo, basically for the Guadalajara area. Can be found in some other places in México, though.
It pours a brite yellow, with some head and no lacing.
Faint herbal, hops, grains and almost no skunk smell like its infamous sibling Corona Extra (yuck!).
It's taste, well, watery to say the less. Some bitterness, also.
Crisp if you drink it real cold; average thirst quencher.
I can't stand more than one at a time.
