Clear gold with thin head that quickly dissipates. There is a little lacing here. Strong grainy smell. Typical look, smell and taste of American Adjunct Lager. There is nothing offensive about this beer. Nothing great though. It is a drinkable beer.

So many people in this forum critiquing beers like Modelo like it's a craft beer when they are meant to be drank either as a thirst quencher or in quantity.
Look: looks like a beer
Smell: yeasty
Taste: not the best beer ever, but after three margaritas, not bad, tastes like a Mexican pilsner (which it is)
Feel: oh boy I'm gonna feel those three margaritas tomorrow when my daughter wakes me up at 6:30 am. It feels like drinking a Mexican beer
Overall: I'm from VT - home of Hill Farmstead, Heady Topper, Fiddlehead, and countless other great craft beers which I enjoy to the fullest extent. Stop critiquing beers like Modelo (which I'm drinking right now) like they should earn the respect of other craft beers and have a feel, nose, head etc... don't waste your time... oh.... oops..

Easy beer to drink with no frills. Its light in color and in taste. Truly a decent beer with nothing special as it reminds me of a corona personally. It needs a squeeze of lime to give it a level of some taste that can be enjoyed with food.

Not horrible, it's an adjunct lager but has more flavor than you'd expect. It goes well with fresh mexican food but as a beer alone it's pretty mediocre.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Look -3.5- Crystal clear pale gold, white head that dissipates quickly.

Smell - 3.75 - light malty smell, grainy pilsner smell. Light hop aromas, not tropical but more like a traditional German hop variety. Slightly sweet adjunct smell possibly.

Taste - 4 - grainy malt taste, not very strong malt character. What sweetness from the malt there is the hope balance it out pretty well without a bitterness at the end.

Feel -3.75 - not very watery but light in body. Medium high carbonation. Dry, crisp finish gives the indication of high attenuation. Grainy malt feel.

Overall - 3.75 - head retention could have been better but there was great clarity. Flavor was richer than expected and hop prescence was palatable, suprising to me based on the brewer. Wouldn't might having another on a hot day.

12/15/16 , 12oz bottle, Guadalajara Grill (San Mateo), Modelo Especial (revisited), my memory of this one isn't that favorable but tonight this beer was perfectly paired with my Mexican food, loved the breadiness of the aftertaste, 3.5

A: crystal clear gold. Soapy head that dissipates quickly, maybe a minute tops before it's down to lacing, which is minimal as well.
S: hoppy, so that's good at least. Also a little bit skunky, just like a Corona, Tecate, even Heineken; whatever.
T: Reminds me of Budweiser but a little sweeter. Some of that papery funk that most macro-brews have. Why do I do this to myself? Bitter and clean. A little bit skunky.
F: Crisp, clean and refreshing. All I can ask for. When I drink this kind of beer I want it to be moderately palatable and very refreshing.
O: It's okay. Don't fall over yourself to get it. El Modelo no es perfecto, pero es una cerveza bueno.

Para una buena salud y buena cerveza. (To good health and good beer.)

To me, this one doesn't taste as "good" as a Corona or a Sol. It lacks the typical "Mexican" flavour. More like a Bud or a Molson Canadian. Wouldn't buy again

The head of this beer dissolved almost as soon as I poured it. Very disappointing. The taste was not too bad, but it wasn't that great either, which is typical of an adjunct. Hey, it beats a Bud.
Still, it kind of reminds me of why I did not drink beer in college during the 80s. Frightening times.

My absolute favorite "regular" beer you can find anywhere ..

Very good clean taste without the watery finish of normal American lager, nice beer to have with food .

12 pack bottled in a box is my favorite since it is a clear bottle , there is no skunk flavor with this beer Like you get with corona.

Very bright pale color with storming pearly activity. Weak white 2 finger head, lasting around a minute, with poor legs. Flavors of sweet grains, corn, lemon, caramel, and herbal spices. Lots of malt and fruity sweetness with a dash of bitter leafy hops. Slick full body with prickly and crispy carbonation. Light bitter finish of lingering floral hops, smoked skunk, with light syrupy grainy malts and soft lime citrus. Overly accessible, but at least it doesn't taste adjunct too much. The finish has a nice intensity, very flowery. The flavors are okay, while basic and a little off. The freshness is a bit lacking, but decent. Overall below average quality craft.

22oz can partially poured into a snifter for this review.

A: Pours a clear dark yellow/light golden color with a couple fingers of very active and fizzy off-white head that quickly disappeared into a very faint collar.
S: The nose is light with notes of corn, peppery hops, and a kind of metallic copper penny smell.
T: Tastes better than the nose let on with base flavors of corn and dry grains followed by lightly sweet and almost fruity hints of yeast esters. The finish is lightly spices with hints of peppery hops.
M: Light body but very smooth and soft carbonation that create are fuller and thicker mouthfeel that many others in this style. Very creamy and smooth. The finish is slight splashy and wet (not completely crisp and dry).
O: Fairly solid actually. I’m not getting any flavors in this that offend me, which is typically my biggest qualm with the style. I’d drink this over many other available examples of the style; however, this is not my favorite adjust lager.

Had on tap at Buffalo Wild Wings in tall Pilsner.

Looked pale gold can see right through it no head no lacing.

No real smell, corn perhaps plain.

Taste corn, and not much else. It's smooth and would probably benefit from a lime garnish. It's just another Mexican beer very drinkable, very light but have had better would drink again.

L- Clear golden body with lots of carbonation. Small fizzy white head with very poor retention.
S- Malt grains and a slight adjunt note. Weak nose.
T- Malt grains, dough and a slight grassy hop touch at the end. Slight adjunt taste.
F- Watery and a bit fizzy.
O- One of the better mexican BMCs.

Can. Poured a darker gold than most mass produced adjunct lagers. Aroma and flavor is also a bit fuller and expressive. Sweet but also a light hop presence. More than you can say about most. I find this to be one of the more enjoyable adjunct lagers.

The best Mexican lager of the bunch. It goes down easy, not filling and actually isn't that bad compared to the other choices here in cancun. This over corona any day.

Poured a 12 oz. can and got a clear golden color with streaming bubbles and a rocky white crackling head that quickly dissipated.

Smell is corn sweet with that smell that I pick up on all Mexican lagers. Maybe it is the water or something but they all seem to have this odor I cannot quite pin down.

Taste is typical adjunct lager with that bit of sweetness coming through. And as on the smell this one has a certain taste that Mexican lagers carry with them. And again I cannot pin that one down.

Mouth feel is very light and watery with a dry snap to the finish.

This is not a bad Mexican/American adjunct lager at all. Just seems kind of run of the mill. And my biggest pinch on this one was the taste just was not that much. The beer seemed almost watery in the flavor department. On the flip side for a sessionable summer beer this one could work well as the price point is always low on these beers.

Pours a clear, straw yellow color with a one finger white head that quickly recedes.
Smells nice, some apple, corn, typical biscuit malt notes, cereal.
A bit of upfront bitterness quickly followed by bready malt, and then a dry finish.
Mouthfeel is thin and watery, like most adjunct lagers.
Overall, a solid adjunct lager, won't win any awards, and at its' price point, isn't worth it, but for an adjunct lager, beats a number of its' competitors.

Pours clean with a signature yellow color. Head is decent but fades pretty fast. Smells decent, has a light smell to it, sort of crisp hops. Taste is decent, for a routine beer I really prefer this to other beers in the category. Feel is very light and smooth, goes down very easy and decent overall flavors. I think this is a great summer beer or out at the ball game beer. It is not heavy and very easy to drink.

Looks like beer, at least. A straw liquid with a decent white head. Little lacing, and head only a little durable. Smelled like corn, and maybe some cooked veggies. Taste was small and simple: a tingle, sweet corn, and a watery fade to nothingness. Mouthfeel was at least not offensive, but that could not make up for the general lack of flavor and the overwhelming smell and taste of corn. Poured from a 24-oz. can into a glass for drinking.

I'm drinking this beer from a 24oz tallboy, so I don't have much to say about the way it looks. Can evokes the image that this beer is fancy. The smell is interesting. There is barley malt, as well as some grainy smell that only Mexican beers seem to have (if you've ever smelled a Corona you know what I'm talking about), along with a corn and grassy (but not floral) note. The taste is surprisingly good. Very smooth, malt takes a forward role in this beer and the adjuncts add some of their own flavor and sweetness while remaining light on the pallette. A light bittering hops presence is detectable but non descript. As mentioned, the mouth feel of this beer is relatively thin but has a nice creaminess that makes the beer feel nice in your mouth. Carbonation is medium - low.
Overall this beer is not half bad, and it certainly beats out some of the megabrews it's in competition with. Nice presentation, nice balanced taste with a creamy mouth feel and a dry finish without lingering tastes. Would recommend to a friend.

Light, clean and easy drinking. Not too much flavor. What I do get is some grain, wet cardboard and sweetness. Crushed a bunch of these while playing golf. Not terrible.

Enjoyed from the bottle in a snifter via a friend from work---Thanks Kevin!

This nice brew pours a clear golden color with a nice head of white foam that settles quickly to a thick ring and spotty lacing. Nose of sweet grains, corn, and subtle breaded malts. Flavors follow the nose with sweet grains on the front, light white bread flavors on the middle to back, and subtle hops on the aftertaste. Nice mouth feel, crisp and clean, highly carbonated for a very lively mouth feel, yet a touch on the watery side. A fine summer brew or with spicy Mexican or Indian food. Good for what it is.
