When you crave a light, refreshing beer devoid of any bitterness this one is excellent. No skunk aroma, not even a trace of hop bite, just smooth watery beer as it should be. It is VERY light sensitive so avoid the clear bottles, search out the can version. Preferably from a store with high turnover due to Mexican patronage. The finish has a light sweet cotton candy like finish that begs for more.

The aroma & taste is both of corn, bready malts, & grains. There is no date on the bottle. In conclusion, it's not a bad Mexican lager at all. This beer does not deserve a poor rating, it looks the part of a Corona Extra but it's better. I plan on copping a few more bottles of this beer in due time. Cheers! B-

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that quickly died down leaving just a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of corn adjuncts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has moderately strong flavors of corn adjuncts along with a light amount of associated sweetness. There also seem to be some hints of underlying pilsener malts.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and very clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink. The clean mouthfeel seems to be the best quality of the beer.

(24 oz can, code LI128036; purchased cold... poured into 28 oz mug)

L: polished-clear, pale yellow-amber liquid; white, crackly foam erupts then fizzles out on pour; spotty/spitty collar, then no collar; no lace

S: style-typical, lightly corn-syrupy sweet, hard candy-ish note; little grassy grain character, no hops... all sweetish golden cookie; little alcohol presence... moderate overall intensity

T: lightly malt liquor-ish; little bitterness, only delicate mineral carbonic bite... has a peculiar, rather subtle note in the finish/aftertaste that I could only describe as 'honey-kissed inflatable swimming pool float'... overall flavor is rather simple and dull, perhaps watered down from stronger brew?

F: has a soft sizzle on first few sips, but goes nearly flat in minutes... light-bodied, lightly syrupy-slick, glassy touch... lifeless

O: didn't expect much, but this was a little more dull than I'd hoped... definitely something one would want to think twice about before: 1) drinking at anything less than a bone-chilling temp, 2) pour into a glass... not worth a revisit (1420)

Pours to a pale straw color with little to no head. Smells of wheat and sweet corn. Tastes of plain toast with a slight crispness.

A fairly typical pilsner without a standout feature.

Nice straw colored beer with a white head, there’s some grassy grain notes on the nose. The grassy notes are accompanied by some sweet grainy notes on the taste, and the mouthfeel is in line for the style.

Pale straw, clear. Medium rising bubbles. Small frothy head. Poor head retention.

Clean, crisp, sweet grains, a little corn.

Sweet grains, white bread, a little corn pops. Clean lager yeast. Hop bitterness is super low. Finish is semi-dry. Light bodied, crisp, clean, refreshing, well carbonated, super drinkable.

It's pretty good. It's a simple lager.

24oz can poured into standard drinking glass.

Appearance - Pale straw body with decent white head with moderate-low retention. 2.5

Smell - Faint, boring.

Taste - Thin, water, corn. Like a weak, slightly cardboardy bud light. 2.25

Mouthfeel - A little syrupy. 2

Overall - Not a fan of this style and I really can't see the point of drinking it without an addition like lime or beer salt. 2

Being full on half Irish (Cork) and half Mexican (Jalisco).. My mother would always tell me about her parents home in Jalisco. I am bias as hell, but Im glad there is a beer from the region. It's better than anything American, yet not quite on par with European standards. It's an alright beer.

Estrella Jalisco | Grupo Modelo S.A. de C.V. Poured from the can into a pint glass, this brew's head is three fingers thick, spotty lacing, and a medium gold body.

Smells like your average adjunct grains.

I also taste cheap grains. Especially corn and a grassier malt note.

Medium-light with mild carbonation.

Estrella Jalisco | Grupo Modelo S.A. de C.V. receives an overall 4 out if me.

Smell is mostly corn and biscuit, and so is the taste. Beer has a nice feel and has good carbonation. Beer is perfect for a spicy Mexican dinner or after cutting the grass in the summer, light but refreshing when cold.

This beer is perfect for a hot day or to compliment a delicious Mexican feast. Light, refreshing, and low carbonation so you won’t feel bloated. Found best when enjoyed from a bottle or on draft with a squeezed lime wedge and light salt around the rim of the bottle or pint glass.

Golden color with a diminishing off-white head despite a continued flow of bubbles. Aromas of grains, white glue, and hint of herbal hops. Actually rather malty in the flavors. Neither overly crisp nor exceedingly refreshing, More in the lines of a typical pale lager. Not Slightly sweet in the finish.

Fine appearance, crystal clear and golden hued body; thick, fluffy white head. Mild herbal and grassy aroma; some light grain with a definite corn presence. Biscuit-like malt taste with a slight hop bitterness presence. Medium-light body; warm yet crisp and light on the palate; a toss-up between mildly sweet and mildly dry with the finish.

As an adjunct lager, this beer is fairly tasty and certainly drinks easily. Personally, I'd have another...

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. So when eating Acapulco fish tacos, do what the Mexicans do and drink light lager in tow.

Setting the tacos aside and squarely focusing on the overall expression of Modelo's Estrella Jalisco, the beer pours a brilliant gold color and crowns with a fluffy stark white foam. Streaming with carbonated personality, the nose is slightly floral with the overall character of fresh kilned grains, baking bread and cereal. Grain sweetness carries onto the tongue with fresh barley taste, faint nuttiness and an overall brisk cereal character.

Sweetness gently releases from the middle palate and the hop character shifts from floral nuance and toward a spicy, grassy and herbal balance that resembles tea, verbena and peppercorn. A tepid balance allows for light esters and sulfurs to align in an apple, lemongrass medley.

Light in body but not with the empty character of heavy rice or corn varieties, the sprite nature of carbonation lifts the lingering cereal grains and highlights the hops in an even keel, well balanced taste that's reminiscent of more bohemian Czech styled pilsners, except much lighter, milder and simpler.

Tall boy bought from Towne Square Market for $1.69. Never heard of this beer before but I expect the typical Mexican piss. However I am in the gotta try 'em all club.

Look - To style crystal clear yellow with a frothy head. Low carbonation.

Smell - Cooked veggies with a touch of skunk.

Taste -Mostly mineral water

Feel - Medium bodied with a low to moderate carbonation

Overall - Less offensive than similarly priced competitors but when price is a factor there's no reason not to just buy High Life instead. Better than a corona by far but only due to the lack of flavor. Could drink seven or eight tall boys in a sitting and have no complaints.

Grupo Modelo S.A. de C.V. "Estrella Jalisco"
12 fl. oz. clear glass bottle, coded "LD198148 02:00"
$1.79 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: I was expecting this to be skunked but it's not. Interesting. On the other hand, it doesn't smell that great either. It's sweetish and "malty" although I'm quite sure there's a lot of adjunct in use, it has that kind of aroma to it. It's poured a clear yellow gold body beneath a short head of bright white that's made up of fairly large bubbles. No lacing. On to the flavor... yes, there's definitely a lot of sugar added to this one. If you're not sure what a heavily adjunct laden beer tastes like this is a perfect example. It just doesn't have a full malt flavor, it's sugary, and it's "thin" in flavor. Fortunately it's pretty clean. Sometimes these beers show a lot of fermentation flaws but this one is pretty good. As you might imagine there's hardly any hop flavor to it, and what is there is very "generic". I'm guessing it's hop extract but who knows. A modest bitterness balances it fairly well but some sweetish "malt" does stick around in the end. I don't particularly find that pleasant but it's not cloying. There's not enough to it for that to happen, it's only medium-light in body; and the crisp carbonation helps to clean it up a little bit as well. I'll assume that most people drink this with a lime wedge which would probably work. Ahh, and so I've made the Corona Extra connection, I might as well go ahead and compare the two and just say that Corona Extra has more malt flavor to it and probably undergoes a longer maturation in the tank. This isn't horrible but it's not as good. I wonder if it's cheaper? Regardless, I can't really recommend this unless you have no other choice.

This is a superb Pilsner beer. It’s a pale golden with 4.5 abv. Very refreshing with virtually no aftertaste. A rising superstar beer that will give Corona and Heineken a run for their money in so short a time.

Although classified as an AAL, I found this one more refreshing - although slightly less flavorful - than the other typical ones in this style. Tried this one on tap. Nice golden color, a little head and very mild lingering lacing. Smells very faintly of grains and malt. Tastes of malt, grain, caramel and corn without much bitterness. Very clean and crisp. Mild mouthfeel with good carbonation. Would try others from this category just to compare.

Poured from a clear 12 oz. bottle. Has a bright golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, light grains. Taste is crisp, malts, crackers, some grains. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall, while not particularly flavorful, it's a refreshing beer and not bad for the style.
