Grupo Modelo S.A. de C.V. "Estrella Jalisco"
12 fl. oz. clear glass bottle, coded "LD198148 02:00"

Notes via stream of consciousness: I was expecting this to be skunked but it's not. Interesting. On the other hand, it doesn't smell that great either. It's sweetish and "malty" although I'm quite sure there's a lot of adjunct in use, it has that kind of aroma to it. It's poured a clear yellow gold body beneath a short head of bright white that's made up of fairly large bubbles. No lacing. On to the flavor... yes, there's definitely a lot of sugar added to this one. If you're not sure what a heavily adjunct laden beer tastes like this is a perfect example. It just doesn't have a full malt flavor, it's sugary, and it's "thin" in flavor. Fortunately it's pretty clean. Sometimes these beers show a lot of fermentation flaws but this one is pretty good. As you might imagine there's hardly any hop flavor to it, and what is there is very "generic". I'm guessing it's hop extract but who knows. A modest bitterness balances it fairly well but some sweetish "malt" does stick around in the end. I don't particularly find that pleasant but it's not cloying. There's not enough to it for that to happen, it's only medium-light in body; and the crisp carbonation helps to clean it up a little bit as well. I'll assume that most people drink this with a lime wedge which would probably work. Ahh, and so I've made the Corona Extra connection, I might as well go ahead and compare the two and just say that Corona Extra has more malt flavor to it and probably undergoes a longer maturation in the tank. This isn't horrible but it's not as good. I wonder if it's cheaper? Regardless, I can't really recommend this unless you have no other choice.

This is a superb Pilsner beer. It’s a pale golden with 4.5 abv. Very refreshing with virtually no aftertaste. A rising superstar beer that will give Corona and Heineken a run for their money in so short a time.

You must drink this one out of a bottle... Could not really understand the poor ratings it has gotten. All in all not a bad beer with a 4.50 ABV KICK..

Although classified as an AAL, I found this one more refreshing - although slightly less flavorful - than the other typical ones in this style. Tried this one on tap. Nice golden color, a little head and very mild lingering lacing. Smells very faintly of grains and malt. Tastes of malt, grain, caramel and corn without much bitterness. Very clean and crisp. Mild mouthfeel with good carbonation. Would try others from this category just to compare.

Poured from a clear 12 oz. bottle. Has a bright golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, light grains. Taste is crisp, malts, crackers, some grains. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall, while not particularly flavorful, it's a refreshing beer and not bad for the style.

its hard to really say this is bad, in that there arent really many off flavors or anything in here, its not metallic or cheap or even adjuncty tasting compared with a lot of its peers. the thing is, there really isnt much flavor at all, its almost water, absent of any real beer character, so i guess if you want something impossibly light without the grossness of a lot of the cheaper adjunct light lagers, this could be a good pick for you. for me, i appreciated it not tasting corny or syrupy, but i wished it had some beer flavor, the faintest pale malt thing here, a touch of sweetness, like the sugar water you put in a hummingbird feeder, minimal but its there. no hops at all, perhaps the lightest lager yeast hit, but its so cleaned up that very little of its flavor remains. its dry enough at the end and has decent carbonation. it also doesnt taste spoiled from the clear glass, or chemical to prevent it. i would never buy this, but i would pull it out of a random cooler ahead of quite a few others in this category, for whatever thats worth...

Estrella Jalisco brwed by Grupo Modelo S.A. de C.V., with an ABV of 4.50% This American Adjunct Lager pours out a nice golden amber color with a small white head. There is some thin lacing to this brew, it does stick to the side of the glass. The smell is rich with sweetness, lots of grains and malts. Hops are really faint in the smell, but it is there. So far this brew has the look and smell of most American Adjunct Lagers on the market, not saying that is a bad thing. Now for the taste, it is Bold with smooth flavors. It is what you would find in this style of brew. Lots of grains, malts. The body of Estrella Jalisco is a light medium. There is nothing overpowering about this brew, it has a super nice balance to it. I really like how smooth and clean this brew goes down. I thought this would be a bit stronger , but it is nice an smooth. This brew would go nice on a hot summer day. The mouth feel of Estrella Jalisco is Bold, Clean, Smooth and Refreshing. Overall I'm going to give this brew a solid 4 out of 5. I would definitely look this brew up again giving the opportunity to. For being a Mexican style brew this is one of the better ones. If you are looking for smooth and clean with no bad aftertaste, look this one up.

Appearance: Clear light golden in color, with a small, fairly sense and persistent white head. Fat bubbles in abundant streams race to the surface. Patchy, thin broken lacing adorns the glass wall, with many bubbles decorating the wall, beneath the surface.

Aroma: A bit sweet, with notes of white bread and cracker malt, and a restrained, grassy hop presence. There also seem to be notes of mild alcohol, surprising at a puported ABV of 4.5%.

Taste: Opens with a restrained sweetness, grassy hops, and some cracker malt. As the taste progresses, the hops become a bit more assertive, although the bitterness is quite mild, just enough to counter the sweetness. Finishes with a mild sweet and spicy note.

Mouth feel: Surprisingly full, with pleasant carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: One of the better examples of the style that I have had the opportunity to try. At 4.5% ABV, would be a very nice summer selection, especially as a "lawnmower" beer. Likely it would pair very well with Tex-Mex or barbecue.

Presentation: Packaged in a twenty-four ounce aluminum can, the top of which is covered by a foil seal depicting a six-pointed star, fitting as "estrella" means "star". Served in a Sam Adams Boston Lager Sensory glass.

I can't remember if I most recently had this at Tulsa's house or he just has a cut bottle of this style, which I know he does and is totally crazy because they are such thin glass, but I digress. Yellow, the standard American adjunct lager color, and this one brings the most traditional of mass produced Mexican lager appearance wise to the table. Head retention is a total joke. This pour rises up and dies down in a hurry, settles into a small 1/8" white ring.

Aroma is macro corn syrup city. Nothing in the way of hops, barley or yeast in the nose, its just mostly corn and a sweetness from said derived corn.

Taste is a fizzy. Mouth feel is fizzy. Body is light and almost water like. This is like Corona light. I guess you could say it is well carbonated and refreshing but it is more regret and sorrow than refreshment. Its a beer to hold on to and to drink to get you through until you make it to something better or palate cleaning purposes.

I just picked this up because I hadn"t seen it before, not because I expected it to be good. I did not. However, if it is a reasonably decent Mexican lager, than at least it has a place.

Not impressive initially. The nose has a lime and salt thing going that vaguely reminds one of hated tequilla but the flavor is bland but inoffensive and the texture is surprisingly smooth and creamy.

Not worth seeking out, but you could do much worse.

24 ounce can into lager glass, canned on 8/9/2017. Pours crystal clear medium golden yellow color with as 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Good appearance. Aromas of cracker, corn, white bread, light biscuit dough, and mild herbal/grassy earthiness. A bit too fruity aromas, but not overwhelming. Okay aromas with pale malt/corn and mild earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of cracker, corn, white bread, light biscuit dough, and mild herbal/grassy earthiness. Very mild herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, corn, white bread, light biscuit dough, and mild herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Solid robustness of pale malt/corn and mild earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Fairly clean on lager flavors, a bit of corny fruitiness. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is good. A bit thin, but not watery finish. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is an okay pale adjunct lager. All around solid robustness of pale malt/corn and mild earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. Overdoing it a bit much on the sweet corn adjunct flavors, but it's not bad. Decent hop balance. A fairly enjoyable offering.

Very light golden color with fine beaded white cap.

Very mild aroma of fresh grain with mild bready highlights.

Flavor is much deeper than the scent implies. More bread than grain and the bread tastes fresh and clean without any off notes. I don't know if it's hops or carbonation that give off the slight palate prickle but suspect it isn't hops.

Light medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Overall it's fine on it's own and doesn't need lime, salt or any of that yet I think it could stand up those things well. There is just enough there to match, which is to say not fight or overcome, most any dish from delicate seafood to beef chilli. On my value scale it's not quite worth an import price but if this was designed as a Corona beater I think it succeeds.

24oz can for Cinco de Mayo. Poured a clear, straw yellow color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of caramel and hay. Tasted sweet with toasted caramel. Minimal bitterness.

It pours thin yellow almost translucent, white head but rapidly leaves. It looks watery and you can see the carbonation bubbles easily. It does not have much of a smell, taste is better than I had expected, overall a average Mexican beer, but I am drink it on Cinco de Mayo so cheers.

This is my first review of anything on this site, here goes.

LOOK: Pretty light looking
SMELL: Grainy corny vegetable water
TASTE: Better than Corona, IMO. There's a strange tomato taste in mine, with some slight vegetable flavors (NOTHING WAS ADDED). Don't have lime juice but I imagine this would be great with some and a pinch of salt, perhaps clam juice as well. I am chugging this in a glass because my father didn't like it. Much better than I thought it would be, as far as my Mexican beer experience goes.
PISS: Yea, there's probably a lot of water in there and my kidneys aren't having a problem.
Thanks! Bye.
