Pours a dark color (almost looks like a Coca-Cola in the glass).  Has nice creamy white head. The slow brewed caramel malts give it a slightly sweet nose and silky smooth mouth feel.  Grupo Modelo uses common Galena and Super Galena hops, which gives Negra Modelo an excellent balance with the sweetness of the malts and the bitterness hops. Not
A nice feature is that it stays consistent start to finish. Some beers actually become more bitter as they warm up, not this one. Very solid Mexican Lager. While it is not a comparable style to Corona and Carta Blanca; I would definitely pick Negra Modelo over those two when given a choice.

Brewery notes: Brewed longer to enhance the flavors, this Munich Dunkel-style Lager gives way to a rich flavor and remarkably smooth taste. Negra Modelo, better known as "the cream of the beer", is a Munich-type beer with 5.3º of alcohol that offers a balanced flavor and a delicate aroma of dark malt, caramel and hops. Negra Modelo is made with filtered water, malted barley, hops, rice and exceptional yeast varieties, which give way to the balanced flavor and remarkably smooth taste you can only find in a Negra Modelo. Hints of caramel sweetness and dark chocolate balance out this smooth, medium bodied beer

Today it occupies the first place in sales among dark beers in Mexico. This beer is accompanied by a bright deep amber color, which is adorned with abundant, white and compact foam.
Negra Modelo was introduced in Mexico in 1925 as the dark beer called Modelo, to begin its great tradition. In 2014 it changed its image to a more sophisticated bottle but with the same content. IBU: 16

I drank a plenty of this back in the early 1990's, it's been 5+ years since the last time i drank it. So I bought a 12 pack today. It taste pretty much as I remember it. But i thought it had a longer after taste. Has a semi sweet roasted caramel flavor, It has a slight smokey brandy alcohol flavor just before the finish which makes its seem like it's higher
ABV than it is. I like this beer, I will have no problem finishing off the 12 pack.

A Vienna Lager??? I always thought this beer has German plus Austrian and Bohemian influence ????

Drank from a 12 ounce bottle.

Looks - The bottle is dark and mysterious looking, like it's daring to be drank. You'll look cool ordering this at the bar.

Smell - Slight dark roasted malt notes. An inviting bready grain draws you in.

Taste - Like saltines covered in Nutella. A crisp cracker grain note with pleasant lingering tones of chocolate.

Feel - Medium-thin body with just the right amount of carbonation. A fine drinker.

Overall - Shockingly good. This beer threw me for a loop. I genuinely enjoy this.

Dark amber color with a off-white to tan head, that sinks to a bubbly cap/ring quickly. Foam clings a bit. Aroma of biscuit, faint caramel, perhaps a little toasted. Ok flavor with hints of dark fruit, slightly toasty, and only very slightly bitter. Feel is smooth, but thin. Better than expected taste, with a dry and slightly bitter finish. Overall, better than expected for a commercial Mexican lager. I'd gladly buy this in a Mexican restaurant, or for a spicy grilling on the deck. Enjoyable and refreshing.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) bottle into a conical pint glass; no production date, but code 12 E018A079. Could this be March 20, 2018?
A: Pours a light copper with a reddish caste forming a one inch, off-white head with good retention and some lacing.
S: Floral. Aromas of caramel, molasses, but a certain grassiness as well.
T: Semisweet with a light molasses flavor. Bitterness very little in evidence, bittering appears aimed at causing a clean finish.
M: Light bodied, moderately effervescent, and thirst quenching.
O: This is a top notch, albeit light, Vienna Lager. Perhaps needless to say, excellent with Mexican cuisine. Truly do not understand the low scores.

From a 12oz bottle. Pours dark amber with a trace of tan head. Smells of cereal grains with a hint of caramel. Light feel, could use more carbonation. Tastes of caramel malt, grain, and a touch of floral hops. A pretty good Vienna lager and far better than most Mexican beer.

For me this is a favorite, though I rare drink more than six ounces at a time, I find that it settles heavily in my gut, like drinking a meal.

Taste wise it has malty caramel notes to my tastes buds, kinda nutty and bitter sweet like dark chocolate (minus the chocolate taste).

This is one if my favorite beers, I love it in moderation year around.

This is my favorite Mexican macro-brew. It's my go-to for any visit to either Tex-Mex or Gen-Mex places; goes well with both cuisines! It also beats the pants off just about every US macro-brew out there, for prices similar to those of BMC's "premium" and "light" offerings.

L: This beer is a nice, deep amber, similar to a well-steeped black tea. A proper pour provides a few fingers of rich, ivory head that dissipates somewhat slowly, leaving a nice lacing behind after a minute or so.

S: Malty as heck, and a bit sweet, but not at all in an offputting manner.

T: Also a bit sweet, with nice malty notes and just the right level of hop bitterness to balance the malty sweetness. As someone else mentioned recently -- this flavor really does remind me a bit of some of the less-sweet versions of kvass I've tried (namely, Bolshoy Kvass, Большой Квас) , but is far more boozy. There is a definite note of ethanol in the flavor, but again -- not too much.

F: Just right, for me. It has a nice viscosity, about like that of a good coffee (or tea) with cream.

I paid $3.25 USD for a can of Negra Modelo in Highland Park, CA/USA.
Look: I did not see any foam inside the can of Negra Modelo.
Smell: Negra Modelo had a vague aroma of cinnamon.
Taste: Negra Modelo has flavors of burnt barley and wheat. Negra Modelo has a vaguely bittersweet aftertaste.
Feel: Negra Modelo has good carbonation. Negra Modelo has a thick consistency almost to the point of being a kvass except without the sweetness.
Overall: Negra Modelo is a beer which has elements of being a kvass.

Pours out a clear still brown. Head is off-white and soda pop like. Almost no retention whatsoever and absolutely no lacing.

You get some grains in the nose. Also picking up mild caramel notes and toasted bread. Its got a bit of a metallic twang as well.

Caramel malts up front in the taste. Some grains through the middle. Finishes with a light bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied but the carbonation lightens it up a bit. Not bad. Smooth and drinkable.
