Somewhat dark appearance with some head and carbonation that dedicates quickly. Very mild aroma. Taste is also very mild taste if you can call it that

Exp. "06042017", I guess it ain't fresh, and I'm getting started with it a bit too cold. Contains antioxidants, stabilisers and color agents. Almost no foam, ice tea color, subtle aromas of caramel, apple fruitiness and earthy hops, which show most clearly on mouth, together with a bit of a metallic note. Prolonged aftertaste.

Pours nice and coppery with an off white head that thins out yet settles well in the glass. Smells of roasted malt, doughy yeast, and caramel. Taste is on the mark a little sweet with a dash of bitterness that balance. Smooth and medium bodied. This is the best export from Mexico, an under appreciated Vienna.

Of all the Mexican beers I have tried, this one beats them all. I get this on tap at the local Mexican restaurant. The taste is smooth and sweet....the type I like the most. Very dark and lightly carbonated. Never been disappointed with this one...even in the bottle.

The beer is clear, brown, medium amount of carbonation and a very thing soapy head. The beer has a simple light malty aroma with a hint of sweetness. The beer is well balanced, light in malt flavors and not too sweet, there is a light bitterness and slight dryness to it. Medium bodied beer, nice carbonation feel to it. Very smooth.

I had this beer on tap in Guadalajar...there are better mexican beers. This one is dark, but with little taste, common for lagers that have been around for a long time! Bland, boring. Get another beer

You know I actually really like this beer alot. It's not my style at all but man is it refreshing. Definitely one of the best Vienna Lagers I've tried to date, including more crafty ones.

This one is not for me. So bland I was sorry I opened it. With Eliot Ness and Brooklyn Lager so available, this was a mistake. Was not off-putting or horrible, just nothing stood out.

Pours a clear medium brown with a poorly retained one inch off white head that left no lacing. Smells of malts and caramel. Tastes of lightly roasted malts, toast, caramel and a hint of coffee. Medium bodied for the style, highly carbonated, smooth and easily drinkable. The best of the Mexican beers that I have had.

Usually drink this out of the bottle with lime and maybe a little salt/tajin. But for this review I pout into an ungarnished glass.
L - an inch of foamy off-white head on top of clear brown beer with a touch of amber. Lots of little bubbles
S - lots of malt smells, sweet, caramel
T - sweet, sugary caramel, hint of toast, the roasted flavor is like coffee with a ton of cream, it just peeks in through the sweetness, ever so slightly bitter towards the finish.
F - very carbonated, medium, creamy body, perhaps a touch too carbonated but very smooth
O - Why is this beer rated so low? It is a very solid dark lager that more than gets the job done for me. I may in fact start drinking more of these straight without the extra flavors. Only knock I have is that it cost as much her in the states as many very fine craft brews.

A very clear, mahogany-amber, up to the light. A half finger of off white foam that disappears quickly. Good carbonation when rocking the glass, and a nice streaming effect up the glass. Very mild lacing left down the glass. As far as the aroma goes, when I cracked the bottle, I immediately got a blast of skunk. I poured the beer and waited a few, and that smell subsided quite a bit. What's left reminds me of a cross between SA BL and red wine. In the flavor, has the nice caramel and toasted bread that you find in a BL, and a more fruity, and again, red wine note. The feel is dry, medium thin body, and medium full carbonation. Overall, not bad. I'd try this again with dinner, sometime. The bit of skunk was not great, and side by side I'd go with a Boston Lager.

Poured from a stubby 12 oz bottle into a pilsner. Clear, tea-colored lager, topped with a two-finger tall cream colored head that falls slowly to a thick film. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is a bit citric and and a touch herbal, but rather muted overall.

Flavors come forward with husky grains, bread crust, and a bit of dark toast. Slight citrus rind follows, leading to a drying finish with grassy, herbal hops tones.

Mouth feel is medium bodied, fairly robust for a lager, wth prickly carbonation.

A simple, uncomplicated Vienna lager, and a stalwart in Mexican restaurants everywhere, Negra Modelo is a solid anytime beer, and a great choice with that cuisine.

It pours a rich amber color with a carmel, malty aroma that is very nice to smell. The taste is a sweet with a malt backbone and a caramel flavor. Mouthful is a little watery but very drinkable. This is a good Mexican beer.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
Slight off-putting white head that dissipates quickly.
Clear cola colored body that leaves no lacing.
Aroma is weak, but clearly malt and almost smoky.
The flavors match.
Clean and clear mouthfeel leaving a smoky memory behind.
Great to escape the obvious in a limited option restaurant.

appearance: red/orange, one finger head that dissappears fast leaving a white film on top.

smell: caramel and a bit of roasted malts.

taste: slightly bitter, caramel and some coffee character.

mouthfeel: thin and watery, the carbonation feels weird and a bit aggressive.

overall: not the worst beer on earth but it's not one I'd choose to drink everyday.

Draft pour into a dressed (lime/salt) nonic. Weak, foamy head and bubbly lace. Medium brown color.

Light roast nose (prob stunted by lime dressing).

Taste is lightly roasted, pretty watery bitter, but some sweetness from brewer's caramel and even a little light nut character. Dressing provides augmentation.

Dryish finish, but not unrefreshing.

None of the major Mexican imports are groundbreaking, but Negra Modelo holds up, and pairs better with food than any other. As you can guess, I'm an advocate of getting this (and pretty much any cerveza) "Mexican style," dressed in lime and salt.

How to drink mexican.
1) Order Modela Negra.
2) Do not add a lime.
3) Let it warm up as much as possible because the appetizing aroma is a "4".

A) 12oz custom brown short bottle with a gold foil neck. Clear cola brown with loose bubbled, flattish, tan head, not enough lace. Flattens quickly.

S): Clean smelling. Big malt sweet char, Wood smoke. Faint herbal aroma. A shaman fire on the plateau.

T):Malt flavors, more sweet at first, then charred, a tiny grassy hop, and then dry clean finish, making it the best mexican food beer. Steel, flint, stone in there too.

F) Medium mouthfeel, smooth.

O: Dark American Lager style. Best of a bad lot at mexican eateries.

A good alternative to a common corona mexican beer, has an almost guiness taste, and has a strong caramel smell. I found it a very easy drinking, lightly carbonated beer, great with food especially mexican food!

Good brown appearance, small 1/2" off white, light tan head. One of the few Mexican beers that doesn't look all yellow. Aroma is a nice blend of corn and nuts, brown malt.

Taste is nice, schwarzbier like carbonation and hopping. highly carbonated mouthfeel. I think its pretty reliable and almost always enjoyable with mexican food, especially chips and salsa.

Look: Pours a transparent lightly toasted brown color with a one and a half finger, khaki head.

Aroma: Raisins, apples and notes of caramel.

Taste: Light and clean. The beer has a very gentle flavor. Vague notes of toasted bread, toffee and apple tarts. Sweetness is balanced out by a moderate bitter hop and dark chocolate flavor on the finish.

Feel: Smooth. Watery. Low carbonation. Light-medium body.

Overall Comments: Not a fussy beer, and that's what I like about it. The flavor is light, toasty, chocolaty, fruity and a little watery but I think those qualities add to the beer's drinkability. Almost dopplebock like. Nothing superb, just a crisp dark beer that sacrifices some of it's flavor and body for sessionability. Would pair nicely with takeout or fast/comfort food in general.

From a bottle bought at Trader Joe's, pours a clear deep copper (or light brown) with a beige head that quickly dissipated. Modest aroma. Malty with a toasted caramel sweetness. Fairly light with decent carbonation. Very drinkable.

Hurray I found a beer in Mexico that isn't terrible, and actually enjoy! There is some dark malt flavors, caramel notes. This add a little sweetness and is enjoyable.

Don't drink the corona extras and puta madre cervezas...this and dos equis ambar are what you need. One time, Anahi, Belinda, AND Maria Elisa Camargo were all over deez nutz when I drank this. Buy
