Crisp with a really nice roast flavor. The head isn't anything to write home about - either you poor soft and get no head at all, or poor hard and get a short-lived head that isn't creamy as advertised. Overall though a very easy stout to drink.

Appearance: Aggressive pour didn't do much for this one. Short lived beige head that quickly looked like nothing but a ring in the glass. The color is mostly black with just some ruby tints at the edges. (3.5/5)

Smell: Roasted malt and a dark fruit kind of quality as well. Maybe a slight char. Smells sort of sweet, surprisingly. (3.5/5)

Taste/feel: Roasted malt giving off a coffee flavor, and a pretty decent dashing of dark fruit flavor. Not much going on here, but there's a nice char-like flavored finish that I enjoy. A bit sweet for my liking, but it's not too heavy on the sweetness. Carbonation is about medium, and the texture is as well. (3.5/5, 3.5/5)

A good beer all-around, at best. It's a pretty decent oatmeal stout, but it lacks a certain something. This brew could benefit from a little extra char sort of bitterness and/or a richer mouthfeel, rather than a seeming emphasis on the dark fruits. Straight 3.5 rating from me, and I feel like that may be a tad generous.

Pours dark brown with no light passage. Thin rim of tan head. Nose features some sweet notes reminiscent of grape soda with notes of carob underneath. The taste is relatively thin with more grape soda paired with mild roast, moderate chocolate, and a roasty finish. No hop bitterness to speak of here, somewhat sweet overall. Mouthfeel is light for style with mellow carbonation. Overall, this is a pretty lackluster example of the style. Would not return to this one.

Poured into a Reuben's Brew snifter. Pours a very dark brown, appearing opaque black in the glass, with a thin patchy brown head leaving light lacing. Nice aroma of chocolate, vanilla and mild dark toasted malt. Flavor is dark toasted malt, light vanilla and chocolate, hints of char, smooth. Medium body with mild creaminess. The oatmeal body in this stout is not heavy, but noticeable, adding a smooth creaminess to the feel and taste. Nicely melded stout flavors. Flavor drops off a bit in the finish. Somewhat subdued, but tasty.

look: 4.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Appearance:
Pitch black body crowned with a light brown, thick, and porous head. Plenty of carbonation racing to the top while sediment slowly drifts towards the bottom.

Aroma:
To my surprise, it smells of fresh oatmeal! Nice roasted coffee notes and trace vanilla will keep you interested

Taste:
A pleasant amount of vanilla hits the taste buds first, followed by bitter chocolate and coffee flavors. Definitely got better as it warmed closer to room temperature.

Mouthfeel:
This is one velvety smooth oatmeal stout! Medium bodied and light on carbonation. Finish is a tad on the dry side with a very subtle peat character.

Overall:
This is possibly the best oatmeal stout I've had to date. Complex and easy to drink - the combination makes for one hell of a beer!
