We took imported German malt to yield a pure copper-color brew with toasty aromas. Malt forward flavors are finely balanced against a long German hop accented fade to make an outstanding version of the classic Oktoberfest style.

This beer pours a clear bronze color. The head is one inch in height, and recedes quickly into minimal lacing. The aroma is malty and bready with a bit of toffee. There is a hint of noble hops. Very pleasant, but a little too faint for the style. The taste is along the same lines. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly undercarbonated. Overall, thisi s a very mediocre beer that is right on par with nearly everything else Lake Superior puts out. I will not drink this again.

Poured from 12oz bottle into glass. No dating information found on label.
Deep amber colored body. Half of a finger of white head, which ends up as scattered cap and ring. Lacing slides back down into the beer.
Toasty and sweeter caramel malt in the aroma, with slight floral hops.
Pleasant taste of darker malts and slightly spicy hops. Sweet more than bitter.
Medium mouth feel. Good carbonation.
Easy to drink fest beer with darker malts for color and flavor. Sweeter than Euro Oktoberfest beers.

Not bad. Has a nice malty, toffee aroma. Flavor's like nose but with a touch of bitter in the finish that doesn't really help it out. Body is a touch thin. Fairly drinkable overall.

L: Pours dark amber under a 1” cream colored foam cap that clings to the side of the glass
S: Spicy malts and some light kettle sugars.
T: Rich, complex malt profile with assertive hop finish.
F: Medium light body and medium carbonation.
O: A flavorful, easy to drink beer. It is a little light on the body and the hops push aside the malt a little bit.

Thanks to Joe for this one!

Pours a dark coppery orange, compact layer of smooth creamy foam. Minimal lacing that forms a delicate arc or two in the glass, with lasting surface coverage. Good clarity, with a flurry of ascending carb trails visible throughout.

Dried fruit and nuts in the yeasty aroma. Cranberry or grape? Huh.

Tastes good, also fruity, a little bit of apple and grape, with a husky malt character, nutty and fairly bitter in the aftertaste. Smooth feel, easily drinkable. A little bit more bitter and fruity than most, it was interesting to try. Thanks again Joe!

Lake Superior's Oktoberfest is invitingly transparent, russet, and shows off autumnal orange highlights when backlit. The head is more beige than expected but is incredibly dense and velvety. A sticky network of lacing decorates the glass as I drink.

The aroma is that of pure, unadultered, crisp toasted grains with a backbone of that mouthwateringly sweet Munich malt. The slightly sweet maltiness adds a touch of caramel to the clean graininess and with deep pulls releases some floral undertones. I get floral notes from some of my favorite Oktoberfests out there. If it tastes as good as it smells I'll be in for a treat. Clean and to the point.

Sweet Munich malt gets things moving and follows through to the finish with the crisp, clean, lightly toasted graininess picking up mid-palate and pushing through the swallow. That floral quality lingers in the background. The flavor follows closely to what the aroma suggested. I'm digging this Oktoberfest, very clean and precise.

A body on the lighter side of moderate tops things off and the long finish is fairly dry which I think really helps the overall character of this beer. It would be beyond easy to put back a couple liters of this guy.

I have to admit, I'm pleasantly surprised at the very high quality of this Octoberfest. I haven't heard much about Lake Superior Brewing over the years but they nailed this particular style. It's unfortunate that this beer isn't available in my area because it's one of the better Oktoberfests I've yet to come across.

Really digging this offering from Lake Superior. Good color, clear and bright. It isn't overly sweet, but like a traditional marzen it has a lot of malt character. A little toasty and the malt has a lot of depth without coming across as too heavy bodied. Haven't always been a fan of Oktoberfests, but this is a clean beer and not too over the top with the malt bill. 77/100
