MacGregor's is local bar right down the road from me in Cary. I stop in every once in awhile but it had been a long time. Not too much has changed regarding the atmosphere which leaves alot to be desired. BUT, they have a new special on Saturdays - $2.50 pints (all of their draft beers). They have the local standards from Big Boss, Carolina Brewing, Foot Hills, Aviator, etc, mixed in with a few out-of town microbrews. I had the Lagunitas IPA and the Winter Porter from CBC. You really cant beat the price of $2.50 for a pint which totally makes up for the lack of atmosphere. My buddy got a burger and a salad which he thought was very good. From previous experiences, the food is average. The saturday special will have me coming back.

I'd been meaning to check this place out for a while now. I didn't expect much but I was hoping to be surprised.

There's very little atmosphere to this place. It's sort of a cross between and aging sports bar and an older family restaurant.

The beer selection is OK with lots of locals but even at that it seems limited. I'm not even sure where the taps are. The ones in front at the bar area don't seem to be in use any longer.

I gave it a try and with other great options around (Hibernian and Tylers Apex in particular), I know not to go back again.

atmosphere: Located in a strip mall. Atmosphere is nothing special, generic, and has been described pretty accurately already. A little smoky when I visited.

quality: Nothing to complain about here

service: Pretty standard, but fast and reasonably knowledgeable.

selection: Good selection...I had a Carolina Brewing Company Winter Porter and a Highland Cold Mountain. Other locals and micros with a larger distribution were represented.

food: Haven't had it here, but if it's anything like the others in the chain...not so good.

This is a frequent stop for me and those I work with; a place we can go to blow off steam after a long day at work. The place could pretty much be classified as a "sports bar" but the new section has fewer TVs and is more of a traditional "bar".

MacGregor's is great for putting new beers on tap, both American macros and some of the local brews. Unfortunately it took me three attempts to find something that was available. Even though they have it on their beer menu, each selection I made was either not available, or needed to have the keg swapped out. Ultimately I wound up with a Rogue Dead Guy while I perused the selections a little bit more.

After a few minutes I was pleased to see that they had several of the Highland Brewery selections on tap, including one of my favorites, Highland Oatmeal Porter. I had a couple more of these before breaking for the evening.

Mac Gregor's is a nice place. It's clean, the service is good, and there is something for almost everyone. It's not the craft beer lover's nirvana but it is a nice place to go and relax after work and enjoy one of the better beers they do have on tap. I'm there frequently - maybe I'll see you there!

Visited today after work in hopes of finding a Rogue Locker Stock beer that I have yet to try and was heartbroken to find they have at least temporarily replaced it with a Sam Addams seasonal. They did still have Foothills Festive, so I was still happy. The service was decent and my portion of beer battered mushrooms was huge. Slightly better lit than Village Draft House and the decor was much more sports themed. The beer seemed to be fresh although I only had one. The menu was the same as Village Draft House but they did not have the Tuesday night $8.99 rack of ribs. In fact, the board showed no food specials at all. While this might be a place I stop in at every now and then, I'll stick with Village Draft House, especially when they expand and have 99 beers on tap.

This was a great experience for me. They have about 20 tv's with all kinds of sports. I was there during March Madness and it was a pretty nice atmosphere. I had a drunk man on one side of me and a drunk couple on the other side of me at the bar, so they were loud and obnoxious. Other than those louts, it was a pleasant experience. They have about 30 beers on draft with a different Rogue each month (Dead Guy Ale was on nitro draft the time I was there). They also have local beers like Higlands and Carolina Brewery. They have specials every night and on Wed and Sat (if I am not mistaken), all pints are $2. Not too shabby. The food was good as well with your standard pub fare. A nice place to go with your buddies on Sat on night and a good place for BA's to sample many different draft beers.

A fun place to sit with friends and enjoy a good pint while playing NTN. And if you get hungry enjoy some of their large portion food.

Atmosphere:
Lots of TV's to watch the game or play NTN. There is also a patio area outside that is pleasant during summer evenings.

Quality:
Definitely worth the stop for a beer and a burger.

Service:
The waitress the both times I have been here was very pleasant and did not take very long to refresh new pints.

Selection:
Not a very large selection but they have some winners. A wonderful find on previous trip was the Carolina Brewing's IPA

Food:
Stabdard pub fare food in large qauntities. The food is very good and is recomended.
