12oz picked up tonight at the COOP, enjoyed from my slim tulip.. Dark tannish head shows nice lacing and okay retention..

Big coffee on the nose.. mildly sweet background malts.. not much else going on. Good differentiation on the nose.

The flavor begins the same as the aroma, but quickly moves into slightly weird smokey note.. Standard ... Okay.. Hints of meaty notes remind me of gas station beef jerky.

Light/medium body with good drinkability.. Much better when cooler.. Warmth really makes it too meaty/smokey IMO.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a big creamy tan head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is subdued - some sweet lactic chocolate malt with some acidic roast and a little perfumey fruity licorice.

The flavor is sweet grainy malts with a little floral roast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit watery.

Overall, not all that good, I don't get much coffee.

The Camp Robber is a nice porter with coffee base. The beer pours an opaque black with thin tan head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent is coffee....light roast. The taste is teetering on straight coffee....there is some presence of peat. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with smooth carbonation. Overall its good but not over the top awesome.

Bottle poured into a Big Sky Brewing pint glass

A: Pours dark brown, very little light passes through, with a frothy khaki brown head that settles with spotty lacing.

S: Coffee, a little dark chocolate, a touch of smoke, and some malt sweetness.

T: Nice coffee, roasted malt, a little smokey, burnt toast, and earthy hop notes. A bit watery.

M: Light to medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: I wish it was a little thicker and some of the chocolate on the nose followed through into the taste, but not bad.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Go ahead, bird: try to rob my camp. Get some. Anyway, this stuff pours a dark midnight sienna topped by a finger of dirty khaki foam. The nose comprises sweet coffee, chocolate syrup, and mild roasted malts. The taste leads with some strong green coffee beans, then into some bitter roasted malts and toasted pumpernickel and sourdough. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda dry finish. Overall, this coffee porter didn't do it for me. The coffee and roast were both far too bitter for my liking, and the breadiness, especially near the finish, seemed out of place.

Great coffee flavor for this one, I just wanted a little less carbonation.
