Appearance – Beautiful and bright hazy orange in color with a sorry head.

Smell – This is interesting. There’s a light malt backbone to the floral hops, but this one is very musty. There’s a sharp sweetness in there that I can’t quite figure out. It’s almost like a subdued form of sweet onion. It’s very pungent yet sweet, but not lingering. Strange.

Taste – The grassy hops really come out at the taste. The malt shows up as well, but I thought it missed the mark with the hop profile. Between the lawn clippings and sweet onions it’s more like a garden then a beer.

Mouthfeel – This one had a terrific mouthfeel. It was dry enough to quench yet malty and sweet enough to go down well. It was a solid medium in the body.

Drinkability – The funny flavors that I found will probably keep me from buying again, but it’s not a bad ale and it went down really well.

A decent enough pale ale...I'd drink it if I saw it on tap in Montana..don't think I'd buy it over Summit or Sierra Nevada though..

Pours a nice copper head...I didn'tcare for the nose that much at first...the first time I drank it it reminded me of sweet it's just more of a sweet ickiness....towards the bottom though a nice bready/biscuity nose emerges that is quite pleseant..

Medium light body....session beer style body...taste is sweet fruitiness....kind of a unique fruitiness...some decent bready notes...a slight dry finish...

Not a bad taste...just not real strong flavored....balanced and easy drinking if you want to be nice..."dumbed down" and "weak flavored" if you want to be honest...

Not a personal favorite...I won't buy it again...unless I'm in Montana and see it on tap alongside some macros..

This PA is a copper/amber colored brew with a big bubbly head on top of it. Decent lacing. The smell of it is a nice floral hop smell. That goes for the taste too, a nice citrusy/floral taste, little malt impact. Not a bad drink, pretty standard for american PAs.

Color is a darker yellow, somewhat amber with a fluffy off-white head about a finger high and leaves light lacing. Smell is faint but present of sweet malts with a estery background of fruits and flowers. Taste is more of the same but a bit more complex with a nice malt front of sweetness, lightly fruity with a good balance of floral hops and a note of grapefruit and honey. Not bad, could pack a bit more flavor, but whats there is fulfilling enough for a quick enjoyment. Light to medium body feel with a smooth crisp finish and a touch of oily hops linger lightly. This stuff goes down very easy, quite drinkable.

Orange Gold color, with a medium head. Aroma is a nice floral hop nose . A medium bodied pale ale. Maltd are nutty and slightly sweet. Hops are spicy and slightly bitter. A nice hop balance. Full taste. Good flavor. Mouthfeel is full. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Nice beer

OK I bit the bullet and bought this beer..I had bought Moose Drool from the same company a while back and hated it so here's a chance for them to get back in my good books ( as though they cared)
Ok comes in the 12 oz long neck( brown)..with a rather imposing mountain goat on the label.
When poured into my mug this actually looked a pretty impressive brew..nice darkish honey colour topped by a good sized pure white head , that shrunk but stayed around for a while..good lacing.
Im rather stumped about the smell though..I can smell some nice slightly roasted maltiness..but there's something else that is not pleasant I cant put my finger ( or nose) on it, but it puts me off..sorta cheesy but sweet..not my style,.
Taste is pretty much hops with a quick finish..not too bad..for some reason reminds me of Redhooks IPA ( should be a bitter).
Pretty average on the palate quick dryish finish.
Pretty drinkable..I just didnt like that aroma I got.

Pours a reddish amber color with a creamy off-white head that fades into a sticky lace. Nose has a touch of malt but is dominated by floral hops and fresh citrus. Medium in body with a nice amount of carbonation that is spritzy and zesty in the mouth. Taste is a bit of sweet malts and grains up front quickly replaced by strong notes of bitter and acidic grapefruit and citrus rind leading to a dry and crisp finish. A quite enjoyable American pale ale. Purchased from Liquid Solutions.

Appearance is typical for an American pale ale: a clear dark amber color, a thick, creamy white head. When approaching the nose, the aromas lift out and delight the senses: fresh and fruity, zesty ctrus, grapefruit, peach and apricot notes, and maybe just a touch of spice. Great use of hops, but still light and uplifting.
The initial blitz of carries through the very tasty finish. Malt is mightily subdued, though, creating a bit of an off-balanced atmosphere. Hops continue their wild ride, unassisted by malt, leaving the body a bit thin. Know that I am a card-carrying hophead, but I have to note these slight imperfections.
Finish resolves crisply and dryly, leaving a coppery tang in the mouth.

12 oz. brown long neck with no freshness date to be found.

Appearance: Appealing bubbly white lace on top of the brassy amber coloured brew. Clarity is fine even with the fine sediment that made its way into the glass.

Smell: Big floral citric hop with a soft spiciness in the back. Some fruitiness, nutty yeast and malt sweetness make it to the nose as well.

Taste & Mouthfeel: Level crisp moderate body that shows some smoothness, a bit dry in the mouth and that make the heavy hand of hops more pronounced. Waves of citrus rind and a soft floral-like oil show that a substantial amount of flavouring hops was used. Maltiness just stands there with a lightly toasted flavour, yeast jumps in at the same time with a nutty note. Clean finish with a drying graininess and lingering hop flavour.

Notes: This is your standard American brewed pale ale, light on the malt with an obvious citric hop. One thing going for this beer is that the brewers did a good job at keeping it balanced and making it quite drinkable.

scape goat pours out a very clear bright copper color, a quarter inch head seems to want to stick around awhile. active carbonation apparent. a good deal of lace. aroma of piney hops with a detectable caramel malt undertone. this is a nice pale ale...sufficient malt base balances out the pine and resin hops quite nicely, although overall the hops seem to dominate on the taste buds. a medium but lively mouthfeel gives way to a semi-crisp finish. hoppy aftertaste lingers, and i quickly reach for more sips. semi-smooth, refreshingly hopped and pretty tasty. it would be quite easy to drink more than a few of these!

The beer pours a translucent copper color, the head impressive, the texture frothy, and the color a very light tan, after erosion, the lace left behind a fine coating sheet upon the glass. The light aroma of hops hits your first, and then the sweet malt tones seal off this fresh and crisp nose. Start is malt and sweet and the top middling in feel, the finish cutting in its acidity, the hops apropos to the style, quite dry and a decent drinking beer.

Nice head fluffy white and rich.
Golden / amber body.
Lively hoppy ale with sweet caramel and nut flavor.
A little bitter in the end. But not to bad for this style!

Pours a clear light copper. Decent bubbly white head that retains nicely. Nice citrus and floral tones on the nose. This beer is all about the hops. Citrus/grapefruit, piney, dry. There's a good enough malt backbone, but it is in the background. Refreshing and easy to drink. One of my favorite pale ales. Could throw some of these back.

Not a bad respresentation of a pale. Easily drinkable with a good amount of carbonation and a good head. Nice hoppiness to the level of an american pale.

Pretty nice deep amber, head is persistent, lasts at 1/4-1/2 inch and sticks to the side of the pint glass. Aroma is pretty much of Pac Northwest-smelling hops, though English hops are also used. Medium-bodied mouthfeel, fairly good balance between a settled sweet malt and a fair hop zing. Leans toward the hop side. Flavor is relatively long lasting. Seems balanced and pretty drinkable, lacks major distinction though. This and "Moose Drool" are among the better of the Big Sky brews.
