Great place we like to visit every weekend. I almost always walk away with a specialty bomber. The only way I think they could improve is to serve food. Small, fun and intimate setting with lots of stuff to look at.

Large warehouse building in an industrial area by the airport on the west side of town. Short straight bar opposite the entrance on the right seats about 8, with a few communal tables about the room and on an upstairs balcony. Lots of moose art about the room. 11 beers on tap.

was rad to get to check this place out, ben a consumer of their beer for basically forever! pretty impressive operation, out by the airport, in a big warehouse space, all about production here, a peak through the gift shop to the brew house i was blown away by the size of the fermenters and the can bodies stacked to the deck, i knew they made a lot of beer, but the scale here kind of caught me off guard. the taproom is comparatively very small, but also very nice, lots of cool wood tables, neat montana heritage sort of art and decor, a humble bar area, a little catwalk upstairs area, and then some picnic tables outside on the side of the building, pretty substantial gift shop as well. sports on tv, but thats not the point of this place. usual suspects plus a few special offerings on tap, i had a crisp and bright blonde ale with some decent character to it, and a special version of ivan the terrible done with cherries in bourbon barrels, a rare treat to be certain! service was super friendly, really enhanced the experienced, and the place was super mellow, just a handful of folks hanging out around happy hour time. definitely an iconic brewery in this part of the world, but they have done a good job staying relevant in the modern era as well i reckon, better than others anyway, and no survey of the missoula beer scene would be complete without having a couple of pints in here!

When I first got into the craft beer scene Big Sky was one of my early favorites so I was looking forward to visiting the brewery. But it just feels like they kind of got left behind with all the changes that have occurred in the industry over the past decade and it was a bit disappointing to not see much in the way of new offerings or experimental one-offs at the tap room.

Tucked away off the highway, a good spot to settle back and check out some Montana brews. Was there June 2018. Offer all the usuals (have to get a fresh Moose Drool) with a variety of experimentals. They had a few IPA variations working while I was there. To go options, of course, and nice gift shop. Staff was friendly and helpful.

This brewery is prohibited by law from selling pints (too much production!)- so they give away four free half pint samples instead! I tried three different beers- Scape Goat pale, Big Sky IPA and Powerwagon "wheat wine". All were excellent, and the pale and IPA were decidedly better on tap than in the bottle (duh). The wheat wine is quite unique- I took away a 1/2 gallon to share with some Missoula friends.

The tasting room is roomy and attractive, and the bartender was friendly and attentive. The gift shop has probably the best variety of merchandise of any brewery I've visited (all within Montana, and by no means all). They have a variety of fancy and unique growlers. I bought a package deal costing about 20 dollars that included a brown glass growler with a growler-sized koozy to keep it cold, and filled with their wheat wine (the less potent beer package goes for 15 dollars). A pretty good deal when you figure two free pints into the bargain.

The brewery is easy to access- its right off Interstate 90 near the airport, so you can visit it without getting snarled in traffic. A great brewery to visit!
