Finally, a chance to review this one,as it's about a year and a half old. A pint can emptied into a clear glass liter mug reveals a straw colored brew, opaque and with the ridiculous starchy white head of a brew that's chosen wheat, or oats, as the main starch Iin the wort. The foamy white head is receding unevenly, so the wheat culprit is determined and expectations are dashed. No great malt nor hoppy sensation for the nose, just as expected. It tastes just as blandly as anticipated. Without much of a barley malt backing, this drinks and has a mouthfeel that's too thin. As with many IPAs that omit barley malt for some unknown reason, this does have a hoppy bite, yawn. There's no counterbalance and there's no depth to the taste. For an AIPA, this should passed over.

$ 11.00 (Including tax)/six pack of 12 oz bottles ($ 0.153/oz) at Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA.
Undated bottle stored at 42 degrees and served at 42 degrees in a hand-washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 3.75.
Body – Light yellow, slight haze, effervescent.
Head – Small (Maximum 1.5 cm, aggressive center pour), white, average retention, diminishing to an irregular six to ten mm ring fed by effervescence and a complete layer of tiny bubbles.
Lacing – Below average for an IPA. Narrow partial ring connected to the surface ring by many tiny columns.
First pour – Very light yellow, clear.
Aroma – 3.5 - Floral hops. Weakens but lasts entire glass.
Flavor – 3.75 – Good balance of malty backbone and flowery hoppiness. Ends with a slightly bitter and chalky aftertaste. No alcohol, no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3 - Medium, watery, lively carbonation.
Impression and summation – 3.75 – Actually not a bad IPA from Erie Brewing. While I generally don’t enjoy IPAs that are flowery, this one balances well with the malt backbone and actually tastes, if not exactly good, at least better than the run-of-the-mill IPA. The palate is essentially no different than 90% of the IPAs out there and the lacing is disappointing, but overall, this is an easy-drinking IPA.

Erie Brewing Co. "Final Destination India Pale Ale"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle without packaging codes or freshness dating
$2 @ Wegmans, State College, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: Nice label. I'm surprised no one else has the name either. Of course I might have gone with "Final Destination" for a double IPA, but whatever. It's poured a very hazy golden-orange body beneath a finger-thick head of creamy white that seems to be holding fairly well, and which has left some solid sheets of lace above it where it's dropped. The aroma is fruity, both tropical and citrusy although, yes, I know all citrus fruits are tropical, I mean that there's some non-citrus tropical fruits in there as well, apricot, passionfruit, berry, and peach as well as the usual grapefruit and orange. It's fairly bold, and some malt comes through as well. On to the flavor... there's some nice grainy maltiness, and some piney and herbal hops as well. I'm not finding the alcohol except at the end of the finish while its lingering on the palate. It's stiffly bitter at 55 or so IBUs, and then some of that lingers in the mainly dry finish as well, along with a bit of sweetish malt and the softer, non-citrusy tropical fruits and herbal notes. It's medium bodied and crisp but then smooth across the palate once warmed in the mouth. Looking back there are torn sheets of lace thrown up against the side of the glass. Overall it's nicely balanced and rounded, and the only thing it lacks is originality but that's not necessarily a bad thing as it's terribly difficult to produce a unique IPA these days. Nice. I'll certainly look for this one again.

Happy to be 6th review of Final. I loved this beer as a hop head. Poetic justice in the name as the final landing place.
Came back and again rated it 4+. Try 24.
A) A 4+ look with hazed dark amber murk topped by creamy, lacing, and lasting head.
S) Strong and all hop assault - grass, fall earth, floral-piney-dank and long.
T & F) Follows smell with the added thrill of the creamy body. Arc starts with tangerine creamsicle, and takes a long leap over all the bright and dank hop flavors of pine, flowers, dank earth, grass, hay, and finishes bitter but not a palate wrecker.
O) I enjoyed this more than BAs and I'd gladly share and trade and look for more. Try 24.
