Both lager beer and Hainaut season. The daffodil cuvée is the bocage in a glass. complex aromas and the sweetness of cereals. The floral and citrus notes of Flanders hops. Iconic yeast esters.

On tap at The Sovereign in Washington, DC.

This one pours a slightly cloudy golden orange, with a big fluffy head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like pear skin, dandelions, black pepper, straw, lemon, lime, and hay.

This tastes quite rustic, but clean and super inviting. There’s just the slightest hint of funk, but mostly a wonderful floral and fruity sweetness, and a very dry peppery and herbal finish.

This is medium bodied, full and rich for the style, with a fantastic drinkability.

This is right up my alley. It’s a little lighter colored than some of the American takes on Biere de Garde I’ve had - but that didn’t affect my enjoyment of this at all.

750ml green bottle. Caged and corked (cork came out with a mighty pop). Label has best by date of '09 02 23'.
Cloudy, straw colored body. Initial pour brings on a two finger white head, which persists as a full cap. Continuous rising bubbles. Leaves behind a few thin strings and spots of lacing.
Aroma is faint but hints of hay fields and slight fruit esters.
Taste is slight lemon with big esters (pencil eraser and hay), and slight horse blanket funk. All continue in the longer lasting aftertaste.
Soft, medium plus mouth feel. Drying finish. Good carbonation.
Perfect for a summery work day lunch in the hay fields. Very refreshing and thirst quenching. Excellent for food pairing with a baguette sandwich with thinly sliced prepared meats and olive oil.

On tap, $10 at Monks. Poured into a tall tulip

O - Not a DuPont but maybe the other side of the acceptable spectrum of saisons. 4.25

A - Pours a faintly cloudy pale straw color with a small off white head that fades to almost nothing. 3.75

S - Minor funk/horse blanket, no hoppiness, some malty sweetness. A bit of lemon citrus but very little. 4.0

T - Maybe one of the more malty saisons I have ever had. No pepperiness. Faint lemon/lime. Herbal bitterness in the finish. All saison no Brett, no sourness. 4.25

MF - Medium light body with a dry buttery finish. 4.25

Had on tap. Pale straw colored pour with a huge pearl white head and fat lacing. Smells of lemon with weedy and leafy hops with bready yeast and pale barrel funk. Taste is much the same, more botanical then hoppy, pale hay, yeast and flowers are so enjoyable through the sip. Light, dank and pleasantly springy, funk is sneaky here. More than the sum of its parts

Poured from a 75cl bottle from the Fédération Française de l’Aperitif store on Rue des Martyrs. Explosive, cottony head; light amber body (though it’s somewhat hard to assess in the near-opaque plastic guest room glasses at the reasonably-priced Hotel Clauzel). Perfect aroma and taste for the style. Goes down smooth. I love Paris (oh, and this beer)!

Poured from a 750ml bottle, date BB 02/05/23 into the test glass
A - A vibrant display of carbonation, set in a clear light honey background. Cap is of tight knit meringue that lasts the entire experience. Lacing is French and fancy lace.
S - Sadly initial aromatics is of a slightly skunked green glass impact. Time allows for notes of honey, dusty basement, touches of funk, straw, and blooming rime all stroll through. As the experince progresses, the Saison/Farmhouse elements take over. Very floral as the offering opens up.
T - All the aromatics with a strong ripe apricot thread, bready white toast, spread with honey all pile in.
M - Light on the palate, with a semi sweet malt coating remaining, finish is toward the dry side.
O - A very good, and quite tasty Saison/Farmhouse. With a bit of patience the offering opens up and delivers quite a lot, Texture, flavors and aromatics. I will look for a bottle closer to release, this one has shown that a good Saison/Farmhouse has legs. A very enjoyable experience

Drank on draft 11/28/22 @ the Hopleaf.

Opaque dull orange appearance.

Nice off-white head; frothy lace.

Lemon, dandelion, banana & mild clove notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Vanilla, clove, dandelion & faint lemon.

This smelled a touch more intriguing than it tasted, but overall a strong brew.

750 ml corked & caged green bottle, as Au Baron Cuvée des Jonquilles Blonde, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7%. Very pale golden colour, huge white head. Very nice fruity and spicy aroma. Slightly sweet, fruity and lightly spicy flavour, easy drinking and quite enjoyable, but a little more bittering hops would not hurt.

Bottle: Poured a bright yellow color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of cereal notes with bready yeast and nice hay floral undertones. Taste is also a mix of cereal notes with light residual sugar notes and nice hay floral undertones with a bready yeast finish. Body is full for style with excellent carbonation. Solid example of the style with great drinkability.
