This places rocks!
Great beer to go with the kick ass BBQ! i celebrated my 21st birthday here. the service has always been good. but i think it gets pretty busy. 471 is the place to be for lunch and a beer. the 471 ipa is one of my favorite beers. so much that i had one delivered to me in Germany well i was living there. thanks to my uncle! i always miss the delicious cascade hops in the American beers! cheers breck crew! wish i lived closer. Breckenridge brewery don't go a changing!! I am glad that i can find breck beer in South Dakota now, not just the avalanche.

Our first brewery visit in Denver was to BBB. This location is located in the south side of Denver, near the Santa Fe arts district.

Walking into this establishment the food order window is to the left, bar straight ahead, and seating to the right. My wife and I had a large sampler that included; Lucky U IPA, Small Batch 471, 72 Imperial, Well Built ESB (our favorite), and a few more that I can’t recall. The Well Built was a beer that memories are made of; unfortunately we could score a bottle or two to bring home with us.

The atmosphere was laid back on a Thursday afternoon. A few beer geeks, and I assume a few workers from other breweries were there since they all wore the same brewery gear.

We had the Carolina BBQ and some kind of crazy good chicken and sausage sandwich. Both of these sandwiches were very good.

We really loved this place and the service was very good to match the other factors.

We started out my buddy's bachelor party at the Breck. It is a nice cozy little brewpub. Small bar but adequate seating. The pool was free so we got to shoot a couple games after we ate. The 471 IPA was amazing so we ordered a couple pitchers. That beer does not disappoint, especially on tap. The best part was the BBQ. I got pulled pork and sausage and I plowed through it. The sauce is quite spicy and very, very good. The prices are reasonable and you get a lot of food. I did not leave hungry at all. Very cool place and I will definitely be returning soon. Yum!

If the beer in their bottles tasted like it does here, I'd be drinking a lot more breckenridge! Place has a nice airy open feel to it, didn't seem contrived at all. Very laid back feeling to the place

Beer quality was pretty tasty, never had it this fresh in any of my local haunts

Service was pretty good, althoigh the 1st time I was there, the bartender took& tossed my beer my 7 year-old's ice cream & rockies cup,when he needed to hit the head. Much consternation over that, I got half a free beer outta the deal

I counted 11 beers on tap. The big brown, 471 IPA, long iron pils& avalanche reserve were all tasty

Food selection & quality were good, head here to eat& then go hit falling rock tap house!

Great value, $3 pints & reasonably priced food. A pretty nice place in an area loaded with drinking options

So, halfway between the airport and Denver proper, I get a call from Ray letting me know that he'd given the job I interviewed twice for, to someone who wasn't me. What? After I was done disgustingly politely thanking him for considering me for a job I didn't end up getting, I reconciled that I didn't want it in the first place, but got to be thinking what a GABF weekend kill it was just the same. Motherphucker!! I just knew I shouldn't have picked up the damn phone...

But then, BBQ and beer time heals all wounds, it's true. Nominal driving around 'til the old factory space brewpub's found and then landed a slander spot out front. Arched ceiling, I beams and exposed duct work, drop ceiling fans and mounted lamps. Beige and green painted walls over wood slat lower, the room mostly decorated with Breckenridge prints & placards, and some framed GABF awards. The rear wall is framed with large windows looking in on the brewroom, with a row of fermenters up front. Breckenridge logo banners hang high over the Brewerania pieces displayed, old cans and some Breckenridge 22's lining the trim above running around the room, and vintage record albums (Easy Rider, Tom Jones) in the window sills. Nearly a dozen and a half square tables and booths with a small pool table very strangely placed in the center of the room, and Phil's Golf Game (Complete) tucked away in a rear rear area down the way some. A food order placement counter sits just off the door with a big menu board above. What? No, I'm going to need a minute, I just walked in, I've gotta look at the big board some. Little cold fridge right there for getting bottles to go and shirts & shwag in the corner. Just off to the right, an angled wood bar seats 7, with a 7 tap single tower on the barback, tiered booze and stacked glassware there, and a small flatscreen mounted above.

Ordered up some food and a sampler and pulled a table. The sampler is 7 house beers served on a placemat. 5 main line beers (The Avalanche Ale, an amber, had a nice maltiness; the Trademark Pale Ale, some decent floral hoppiness; the Oatmeal Stout, smooth, chocolate and coffee, pleasant; the Vanilla Porter, creamy vanillaness, nice, but more like a brown ale; the Agave Hefe, unusual, with a nice sweet flavor), and 2 small batch beers (The Double Hopped IPA, very aggressively hopped at 9.2% and the 471 ESB, hoppy, but with a nice malt backbone at 7.8%). I think the best of the lot were the Ooatmeal Stout, Vanilla Porter and the Extra ESB, but I don't think there was a clunker in the lot. Not half the number of beers they had on at the Ball Park brewpub when I was there back in '04, but I liked what I had here better this time around.

Washed it down with a barbecue combo of smoked turkey and pork ribs, both were very good, and sides beans with sausage and some good creamy cole slaw. Server person was attentive and dealt us some comp passes to some brewer's event we didn't end up making it out to, but it was good of her just the same.

Well, 3 hours and counting 'til the first session and we haven't gone role called our tix yet or even hit the hotel, so I guess we need be drinking up...

We arrived to an unforseen wonderfulness. Monday night is all-night happy hour. And we were immediately teleported to a very happy land indeed, a land where all beers were only $2.00 each and even our meals were reduced in price.

The atmosphere can't be beat for a brew pub. Staff was super friendly and attentive without being pushy. They would just glide by so you could stop them if needed, and occasionally check in on us. Very good bbq, and on occasion a whiff of hickory smoke would enter the bar area. Since the bar was otherwise smokeless, I assumed that they were just opening a window, door or vent and bringing in the smoke to remind us that they really were smoking it all there. Pretty cool though since it wasn't enough to actually make us smell like the bbq, or to interfere with the food and beer.

The beer was very good. The vanilla porter was very vanilla, but I still really liked it.

The oatmeal stout was a very rich choco-coffee thing which was exceedingly enjoyable.

The 471 IPA smells big, pretty balanced (in the way an IPA is balanced). Lots of stuff going on but a singular bitter note stands out for the length of the drink. A very good double IPA. I suppose I should have grabbed some to go.

Well, I guess I will have to stop back next time. Nice!

Actually, this is the actual brewery with a BBQ joint and tasting room attached. South of downtown Denver and open weekdays only, tours are free. Great tour and they'll even pour you a pint for the walk through. Their BBQ is awesome. Really low key. There is a window where you order the food and they call your name when it is up. A couple of televesions with open seating. Seems like a real fun place to grab some BBQ and beer after work. Lunch may be busy, but I think with the setup they may accomodate pretty quickly. This would be my first stop heading up from the Springs for a brewery tour of Denver.

Parking was a pain in the ass because there was a Rockies game when I went, but I suppose I can't hold that against them. The place looks kind of corpo from the outside, but is really cool looking on the inside. I ordered a bison burger (I know, why not the BBQ) and it came quickly while I had a 471 IPA and a Vanilla Porter. The IPA was excellent but the porter was lacking. There were about a dozen Breckenridge beers on tap and several guest beers from Great Divide, Oscar Blues, and other breweries. The burger was really good and the waiter was not only knowledgeable but very friendly. An awesome experience all around.

Stopped here for dinner while on a business trip. Happened to hit "Happy Hour Wednesday" when all drafts were $2.50. Good selection of Breckenridge offerings.

Had a very attentive server, who was also the bartender. She never let our glasses get empty and promptly cleared our plates.

Food was good BBQ, nothing to fancy but good and the prices were very reasonable, about $10 a plate.

It wasn't a large place, really just a small pub attached to the brewery, but it had a comfy atmosphere none-the-less.

I'd recommend it to anyone in the area.

A: small pub within a gigantic brewery. We got the full tour. Impressive. I liked the feel and concept of the business.
Q: beer was good/great.
S: the service was stellar. An employee explained the beer well plus gave a great tour.
Selection: fairly standard 10 taps.

Located at the "World Headquarters" of Breckenridge Brewery, this is a small, no frills barbecue place with a full selection of Breckenridge beers (about 15 of them). When you enter, if you plan to eat, you are directed to a take out counter. The menu is limited to all things pork, except curiously ribs. Ribs are available with mixed offerings.

I had the Sampler which included three large spare ribs (well smoked), a spicy kielbasa-like sausage and chicken wings. The sausage and ribs were excellent. The wings were poor. I also ordered a bowl of chili which was superb. Although these two items were appetizers, the portions were huge.

The atmosphere was typical back-of-the-garage no frills BBQ joint. The bartender, however, was extraordinary. I would say he knew more than half of the patrons by their first names. Regardless, he kept speaking to me as if I were one of them.

I finally made it here after a couple of years of meaning to go. To be honest, I'd almost forgotten this place existed until I happened to be in its part of town the other night. It's off the beaten path in an industrial area of the city near the planet's best Saab repair place (long story).

The brewpub itself is tucked inside the main Breckenridge brewery. The bar sits at an angle right by the front door and seats a dozen people at the most. To its right is a collection of booths and tables. The space itself sports the traditional dark wood and exposed brick theme. Along one wall are windows that look into the large brewing area. There was one TV showing sports, but the sound was turned down so it wouldn't intrude.

As the name implies, the food here is centered around BBQ fare. I had the beef brisket and found it fairly tasty.

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the regular Breckenridge lineup. However, the bar was serving some experimental brews that were quite interesting. I had their Belgian Pale and Imperial Pilsner. Both were a cut above the regular offerings and worthy of a return trip for a growler fill.

Service is hard for me to judge. The woman who runs the bar turned out to be a long lost friend of the buddy I was with. She paid us extra attention so that the two of them could catch up on lost time. Because of that, my numbers are most certainly skewed.

Overall, I was quite happy I stopped by. I'm positive that I'll be back.

What a great place, almost a dive really...not located in the best part of town, rather interesting part of town, kind of industrial, blue collar perhaps, south of downtown. Interesting place as well...seemed like they had the brewery in place and just decided to add on a little bar area. The bar seated maybe a dozen and a dozen tables. Good music playing and some interesting characters hanging around...they all looked like regulars and the bartender knew every one of them. 7 taps and 1 nitro, nice variety, they ranged from light to dark beers and high ABV to low ABV.

They had a "Test Batch No. 2" on tap, an IPA, a little lighter ABV that the 471, it was pretty solid. The bartender stated that they are going to release a new beer in the near future called "Lucky U", an IPA kind of the same at the "Test Batch No. 2" but slightly tweaked. They had what they believed to be the final label to be used for the bottle. They should have, what she called, "Test Batch No. 3" on tap next week, which is ultimately what is to be the new beer. I also tried the Oatmeal Stout on Nitro and thought that it was excellent.

Bartender was good, chatty, and very friendly. The atmosphere was very laid back. The food was good, but kind of typical pub grub. I tried the pulled pork sandwich. The food was very reasonable and since it was Wednesday, the beers were only $2.50 a pop, now that is value.

Overall, for the beer and entertainment value, it is a must stop.

Back to some of my x-country adventures - this stop in Denver. My friends knowing all about my beer geekdom had a spot all lined up rather close to their home. And it was happy hour, where everyone wins.

Surprisingly the place wasn't very crowded. The layout was part bbq joint / part brewery. The huge kettles filled out the back part while the kitchen was more to the front. You could smell the glorious hops.

Breckinridge Mountain is a popular ski resort about 2 hours west of Denver. The brewery is now headquartered in Denver with 2 brewpubs in the city (the other by Coors Field). My guess is most (all?) of the brewing is done at the location we were at. Their bottled beer is available pretty much everywhere in Colorado.

Having driven 675 miles that day (from Des Moines, Iowa), I had plenty of appetite. I ordered the pulled pork sammich, which came with corn bread. It was plenty of food (maybe too much) that hit the spot. The bbq sauce was nice and tangy. I couldn't finish the whole thing especially with my belly filling up with their beers.

Never having any before, it was a pretty easy pick to get the sampler. With the happy hour pricing - it was only $6 too. Usually samplers are a couple ounces each. Not here, each sample was around 5 ounces. So all of a sudden the sampler is a TON of beer.

Definitely a great choice if in Denver.

Though I like Breckenridge beers, I don't think they're exceptional, so we were more stopping for the food+beer experience. That said, I tried my first nitro-carbed beer (nitro-version of their flagship stout), which was a very novel and enjoyable experience.

The food was phenomenal! I got a bison burger and my girl got the turkey rueben; both were delicious and reasonably priced. Our waiter was satisfactorily informed about the beer, but more importantly was very friendly as well as informative about stuff to do while in Denver. I'd probably stop in again if I'm in town.

First off let me say that some of the food is reasonably priced. However, What is with charging 4 dollars for a pint of YOUR OWN BEER! There food is good though. I had a nice pork sandwich.

This place has a laid back atmosphere. The employees know some about the beer. I try hard not to hold it against them that some of their taps poured nothing but head and foam.

They have all of their beers there with a couple of other brews. They make a decent amount of beer for everyone from light beer to RIS.

They have some tvs to watch. It could be a nice place to watch a football game. It's definetly a place to try when in Denver.

I need to get back to this place as one night during the week they have all you can eat BBQ ribs. But onto the brewpub itself. Stopped here in early afternoon and had a few pints. Place was very full and had good atmosphere, although seemed more like an Applebys or something like that... which is good but not great. It appeared that they had their standard line up plus a couple seasonals, but nothing too wild or crazy to get me excited. As I said, oddly their food seemed more appealing to me than their beer, which I'm not sure if it is good or not. As I said before I will stop again next time I'm in Denver and try to get the whole experience this time.

Another random Denver beer spot I'd never been into just because of it's relatively odd location.
When you walk in, there's a normal sized bar with a dozen or so taps behind it, but only 5-6 chairs. A quick glance reveals that they not only have the standard Breckenridge beers (Avalanche, Agave Wheat, etc.) but they also have all of the seasonals, all of the 471 brews, and a few random one-off beers like a Saison. While I'm not a huge fan of many of their everyday brews, I really do like their 471 line-up, most of their seasonals, and I love the oatmeal stout. Happy hour beers are only $2.50 (any of them), and pitchers were cheap, too. Those prices are pretty much unmatched if you like any Breck beers.
Service was surprisingly good considering it was a Friday night and there were really only 4 employees running the whole place.
BBQ is solid. I had the Carolina pork (which really did taste more authentic than I expected, even if it isn't my favorite), and the sausages with some mac & cheese and potato salad. All of the items would've been received well in the southeast, which is always a good reference point for BBQ.
It's still a little out of the way to get to, and parking is a little hit or miss...but I like this place. If I were closer I'd probably end up here a lot.

EDIT: Now that Breck and the Wynkoop are on the same team, they also have beers from the 'Koop, too. I've also found that the 10th and Osage light rail stop can make this place a little more approachable, but it's still a bit inconvenient. I'd guess that once Santa Fe starts to fill in a bit more, we might see the light rail path get an additional stop that's much closer to this area.
