Swing top bottle; October 17 drink by --

Color is ok ok the red/light side for the style but head dissipated almost immediately; smell and taste are very sweet/syrupy for style; mouthfeel is a bit watery with mild cloy and moderate carb; not great for the style but for Germany an ok beer.

Beautifully executed doppelbock. Dark amber with thin silky head, nice sourish malty aroma. taste is even richer with hints of caramel, toffee, butterscotch, malt, buttery smooth and soft lingering on the palate. A treasure to enjoy!

A meal in a glass! Pours a beautiful dark brown with a substantial light tan head. The aroma is an indication of what is to follow on the palate: roasted malts, yeast, dark fruits, caramel, a hint of chocolate. Rich, creamy mouthfeel, nice warmth from the alcohol. Overall: outstanding. It's everything you need in a beer.

A: The beer is hazy brown in color and has some yellowish hues. It poured with a quarter finger high beige head that died down, leaving thick, wispy lacing on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: As the beer warms up, the smell strengthens a bit, having aromas of apples, toasted malts, and raisins.
T: The taste generally follows the smell, also having additional flavors of brown bread, chocolate, and dates with hints of sweetness.
M: It feels a little more than medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This doppelbock seems to be a bit lighter in body compared to other beers in the style, but has complexities in both the smell and taste. It is quite easy to drink.

Pours a dark amber with a thick, tan head. Exceptional appearance. Malty to the nose and mouth. I am a BIG fan of the classic German malty double-bocks and this is a really nice one! Recommended!

Absolutely exceptional beer. I am not normally a dark, malty beer guy -- I am a hop-head. But this was an incredibly smooth, full, balanced beer that was in a word -- delicious.

16.9oz flip top bottle, best before 06/2015.

Animator is a good looking beer. You might try to pick it up at a bar if it were a lovely auburn haired lass. She has a haze to her and a wonderful creamy head when poured straight in.

Aromas of sweet grainy Vienna malt, rock candy, and a whiff of alcohol.

Grainy, nutty sweetness. Finishes with a dose of bitter alcohol that isn't messing around, but isn't off-putting.

Full malty body with low-medium carbonation. It's rich.

It's a lesser Doppelbock than many, but I'm sure fresher is better. I really like the flip top bottle, but the beer is lacking depth in aroma and flavor.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

I see no Chuck Jones 'round here... Anyway, this stuff pours a clear honey-garnet topped by a three-quarter-finger cap of glowing tan foam. The nose comprises rye bread, rich caramel and toffee, mild earthy greens (mostly akin to tobacco), mild stonefruits, and a minor whiff of booze. The taste brings in more of the same, with hints of cocoa powder and licorice and some light maple syrup in the background. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, a pretty damn solid d-bock, something I wish were around all the time for a relatively inexpensive option.

Boy, this sure looks and smells like a Dopplebock. I poured aggressively to get the large tan head. Body is a largely clear amber with orange/brown/red tones.
Nice rich malt aroma with hints of alcohol and putting forth bread and fruit. Soft aroma, but pleasing. A bit of residuals from yeast show.
Lager body and overall lighter. Richness of the malt is not to excess but still there nonetheless. I immediately had a ding to the pre-frontal cortex. Ding!
Quite smooth. The malt and alcohol show strongest and the fruit lags quite a bit behind. A soft dryness and very little hops to speak of.
Not as complex as some. Very nice feel.

Poured from a 500 ml flip top bottle into a chalice. Best by date of 6/15.

Appearance: Pours a dark brownish amber with a moderate amount of bubbles. About one finger of off white head that settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A toasty and bready malt forward aroma with hints of biscuit, spice, and dark fruit. Toasted barley malt with hints of biscuit, toasted bread, caramel, toffee, nuts, and yeast. Spice hints of cinnamon, pepper, and slight clove. Fruity hints of apple, pear, and banana along with some dark fruit hints of fig and raisin. Subtle floral hops. A very good malty aroma.

Taste: Like the smell hints at, a nicely bready, spicy, and fruity malt driven taste with good notes of bread, spice, and fruits. Toasted barley malt with notes of toasted bread, biscuit, toffee, caramel, nuts, and yeast. Spice notes of pepper, cinnamon, and a little clove. Mix of fruit esters with notes of apple, pear, raisin, fig, and banana. Sweet notes of brown sugar. Light background presence of hops. A really good German taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy and smooth with a drying finish. Alcohol is hidden pretty well.

Overall: A really good German Doppelbock. Really nice blend of bready, spicy, and fruity flavor.
