Comes out of the tap a hazy honey golden with a fine-bubbled eggshell head that leaves some good lacing. Wheaty, yeasty aroma has a strong citrus overtone and is quite inviting. Wheaty flavor has a strong lemony note, more sweet than sour, and a yeasty underpinning. Overall it is quite refreshing, perfect for a sweltering summer day. Fizzy texture has average body and leaves a wheaty and fairly tingly finish. Prosit!

Presentation: 12oz slender brown European-style bottle, with freshness date.

Appearance: Bright pale golden beer, crowned by a thick, stiff creamy head from a active carbonation. Retains nicely.

Smell: Smells of a lemon scone, fresh baked with a fruity twang to it. Pleasant aroma with wheat malt sweetness and subdued fruity esters (faint banana), fermented wheat, a touch of phenols and some spicy clove play with the nose a bit.

Taste: Crisp moderate body. Very smooth and creamy on the palate, with an even malty character of light bread, vanilla, faint bubble-gum sweetness and solvent clove taste and slickness. A grain dryness follows that mixes with a lemony hop bitterness (not hoppy though) and carbonation to create a crisp snap, which is then joined shortly after by some more light clove flavours. Finishes with some grain, clove and sweetness and a pleasant lingering aftertaste.

Notes: An outstanding Kristall Weizen beer. Extremely flavourful and complex, while remaining refreshing and just an overall pleasure to drink.

Amber-leaning golden in hue, with just a touch of smoky haze. Tornadic carbonation result in streams of dancing bubbles and a measurable beige foam on top.
Muted weiss aromatics. Mushy bananas, impotent cloves and metallics. Some cinnamon to be found as well.
Pale malts and husky wheat upon encountering the tongue. Repressed apple sauce fruitiness, mixed, perhaps, with bananas. Clove is here, but it is largely replaced by pepper as the dominant spicy tone. Mustiness is imparted from the yeast. Small scale horse qualities (pony perhaps, or mule?) Hopping comes in rather largely (per the style) with a loud crash of metal and dried herb.
This is interestlingly juxtaposed in the mouth. Enter fully creamy and seemingly near full-bodied, the floor drops out midway. Heft disappears. Light bodied as it closes, but crisp.
Decent enough krystall. Quite poundable too.
It's no Weihenstephaner, but what is?

Pours amber with a thin head that drops fast.. Clear (duh). Smell is light fruit and malt. Taste is the same. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, lightly fizzy. Drinkability: Eh. Nothing special, really makes me reconsider my purchase. Should have gone with something else. Well, there is always next time.

1 pint (473 mL) brown bottle, capped. Best Before date in the bottle right corner of the front label. This bottle read "11.01", but tasted fine despite being almost 2 years beyond date.

This weiss beer poured a clear, golden-amber color with creamy, slightly off-white foam that clung to the sides of the glass. The smell was wheat, floral hops, and bread. The taste was a very lightly sweet, biscuity malt with light floral hops with notes of grain and a delicate, toasted banana flavor. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy with medium body and medium-low carbonation feel. There was a nice, lingering aftertaste. This was a nice weiss and very drinkable. It had also held up remarkably beyond its "expiration" date.

Appearance: Fairly clear golden color--a slight haze though--with a lot of fine streaming bubbles coming up, and a moderate but receding head.

Smell: Lightly fruity, not identifiable as banana, but pleasant.

Taste: Moderately fruity, with a bubble-gum like flavor. Phenols are very light. Nice amount of wheat flavor, though.

Mouthfeel: High carbonation give a sharp, bubbly mouthfeel.

Much like Hacker-Pschorr's Hefe, there's not much here to criticize, but it doesn't stand out either. Nice, refreshing but undistinguished.

Appearance: Brassy golden color with just a touch of haziness. The snow-white head is truly massive and lingering and exhibits fine lacing; the carbonation is moderate.

Aroma: Strong cloves and ripe bananas dominate the aroma, as well citrus hops and some wheat malt.

Taste: Opens with a refreshing lemon note, sweet fruitiness and a bit of carbonation, which is soon followed by tart malts. Finishes with clove notes and mild hop bitterness.

Mouth feel: Smooth and pleasant, with a certain refreshing lightness.

Drinkability/notes: A really solid wheat beer, and quite nice for a lazy summer afternoon.

Weisse Kristall is almost lager - like in clarity-- only a slight haze can be discerned. The head is not as thick as that of a hefeweizen, probably due to the filtering of proteins conducive to head formation. The expected German wheat yeast esters are there and are comprised of banana, clove and a bit of bubblegum notes. The mouthfeel is a tad thin as a result of the filtration, since residual proteins are quite important in mouthfeel. Hop flavor is absent, but perceived hop bitterness seems above the norm for a Weizen, perhaps due to the lightening of body. Musty notes and fruitiness from the yeast are present and akin to that of an unfiltered hefeweizen. Finishes dry and estery. Man-- what an odd beer. Weisse Kristall is tasty, but I prefer my German weizens unadulterated.

As good as Weiss gets. Try 6. Scores extra for look, feel, and abundant flavor.

A: Brassy golden color with a surprising amount of haziness. The dense white head lingers and jets some lacing; the carbonation is moderate.

S: Strong lemon cake seasoned by cloves and trace of ripe bananas along with citrus hops and wheat malt.

T: Opens with a massive lemon bakery, sweet fruitiness tempered in the end by tart yeast and malts. Finishes with clove, spice, gum, and mild hop bitterness.

F: Smooth, pleasant, with refreshing lightness.

As good as this style gets? Try 6.

This brew has a clear pale gold/straw color, with a volumous cream foam head on the top. Nice wheat characteristics with some lemon zest for the scent. Soft bread, lemon, wheat, banana, spice. Great taste, some acidity on the tounge, hail the german wheat machine.

Purchased a bottle without examining the expiration date - which is long since past, and there were black markings on underside of bottle cap. It's not primo fresh but it actually hasn't been ruined either, just muted a bit. Despite this wheat beer being filtered, it still has some heft to it. Dark golden, almost copper colored, fine head. A subdued brew, malts are present and wheat/yeast characteristics are noticeable but not overpowering. Will try to find a fresh bottle and re-review; I'm amazed that this old sample was drinkable let alone enjoyable.

Appearance: This was a yellow beer with a huge, fluffly white head. A thin layer persisted the entire drink. Not much else to say.

Smell: I know there wasn't any in there, but this beer smelled strongly of corn. Especially straight from the bottle, where I thought I was sniffing a can of creamed corn. There were also grassy, straw-like aromas combined with a light lemon smell.

Mouthfeel: Thin- to medium-bodied and very smooth, especially for a wheat beer.

Taste: There were strong, chewy flavors of wheat, straw, and just grass in general. A hint of tartness emerged occasionally, but it was very mild and not at all as prevalent as it is in other wheat beers that I have had. A sticky sweetness arose on the finish that continued to build, becoming too strong for my tastes. It was this element of the flavor that knocked the taste catagory down to a three.

I'm not sure why they want to make a "crystal clear filtered wheat." What's wrong with a good ol' cloudy wheat beer? Even non-hefe wheats have a little something floatin' around in 'em.

While this is not a bad brew (the corny smell and the sweetness are what hurt this beer's rating), I won't be picking it up again. Especially not when there are so many great wheat beers out there.

Pours Golden and 99% clear. The head is white and fluffy like whipped egg whites that settles very slowly leaving faint hints of lace on the glass. The nose is really good and notably sweet and fruity malt. The hops are subtle and spicy. The taste is a sweet/dry that is tart and sweet and the same time. The Hops are mid level for bitterness and have a presence in the finish that starts with notes of a mid-level lemony/citrus taste. Overall this is an enjoyable beer.

Hacker-Pschorr's Weisse Kristall is the "clear" alternative to their regular hefeweizen. With the filtering of the yeast, I thought that this beer would suffer from a severe lack of character and flavor. Not so! This beer is very refreshing and has almost all the elements that you would find in a regular hefeweizen.

This brew pours a crystal-clear golden color with a nice foamy head that sticks around for a few minutes, leaves very little lace and eventually vanishes into nothingness. The smell is very nice and on the sweet side. A sweet banana flavor is the dominant trait with some light spicy notes. I'd say the smell is a bit more assertive than Hacker-Pschorr's regular weisse. The mouthfeel is crisp and moderately carbonated. As mentioned, this does indeed taste like a hefeweizen. The sweet banana flavors are here along with some very light spiciness. There is some citric presence and a hint of butteriness too. The flavor is slightly lighter and sweeter than the regular hefe and is less dry too but it is still an agreeable brew. The aftertaste is quite clean with just some lingering flavor notes and the brew finishes off with no alcoholic warmth.

I was actually surprised that this turned out to be a nicely flavored beer. In Germany, the kristallklar weizens are the ones generally served with a lemon nice. Trust me, you do not need lemon with this one. Another fine Hacker-Pschorr bier.

**Please tolerate my 'Short Review Series' which come from sparsley populated notes.

Pours a dirty opaque gold. Smells of banana and banana. Taste like a Tropican Twister. The banana one. Got a lip-smackin sticky taste feel to it which is kinda nice. Cloves in the tail. Mild carbonation. Nice change from the heavies I've been drinking.

A truly excelent brew! The pour was great with a huge bubbly white head that settled nicely after a minute. The aroma hit me as soon as I started pouring with a sweet lemon scent and once I smelled the beer, faint scents of bananna and pepper mixed in as well giving this beer a very inviting smell.
The flavor of this brew was outstanding as well, with a light malt sweetness in the front and a slight bitterness in the finnish that was excentuated by the great carbonation of the beer. A wonderful drink for sure, very recommended.

this pours out a clean and clear golden with a fat white head that leaves behind some nice lacing. the nose is very clean, light, hints of malt and yeast. crisp in the mouth, refreshing and smooth. flavor wise its a winner as well. much sweeter than anticipated with a strong honey character. a little grainy and some yeast is in effect as well (think subdued heffe). slightly metallic and ends on a sweet note (vanilla?). not a great beer, but good. clean and crisp, enough flavor to fit the bill....not bad.

Pours a deep golden with a frothy white head. Light carbonation.

Sweet in the aroma, with notes of wheat, candi-sugar, and alcohol.

Smooth taste, light and sweet. Hoppy in the aftertaste, but initially it's all about the malt. Lovely.

This one's a keeper.
