Pours hazy gold with an orange hue.
A half-inch head of white rose up before receding to partial coverage on the surface. A modest amount of lacework lasted for the first few sips.
Aromatics are fruity with light malt.
Plenty of pear pulp, orange oil, and pine dew. A rather earthy funk is found as the beer warms under the fruit, akin to peppered cedar bark.
The nose finishes off with honey drizzled flower petals.
Aromatic and fresh, but not pungent or leaping out of the glass.
The mouthfeel is medium with a smidge of chewy resin.
The pallet is juicy, fruity, and light on the malt. Bitterness is smooth, and substantial enough to offset the honey-like undertones.
Dried apricots, more pears, and candied orange segments lend plenty of resinous satisfaction. Alcohol follows through with a lingering warmth.
Finishes with plenty of tropical fruit, light malt and bitterness.

Not the biggest, baddest IIPA, but damn tasty and plenty drinkable. This one seemed to be quite fresh.

Pours hazy orange with a short head. Smells earthy, soapy, and a bit bitter. Tastes bitter, with citrusy hops providing most of the oomph. To support the hops there is somesweet malt, as well as some graininess, and some late earthiness from the hops as well. So far so good, but unfortunately some buttery diacytel makes its presence known as well. Not a bad mouthfeel, creamy and a bit spritzy, but there is a tad bit of slickness as well that I could do without. A bit dissapointing really- I'd hoped to like this a bit more.

Picked up this bomber at the Georgetown Deli ($7.69) in Wilkes-Barre last week. Time to enjoy some DIPA while watching the Bruins pound (literally) the Stars...

Filled an imperial nonic with the new liquid. Color is a slightly haze, bright orange. Carbo is fairly plentiful and steady. Head is a thin, wispy layer of fine, white bubbles, with lacing being present but not eye-catching. Aroma has some toast covered with grapefruit and tangerine. Suggest lots of citrus. I like the feel on this one; body is solid, bordering on chewiness, and sensation on the tongue is quite fine, indeed.

Flavos has some light sweetness, with some toasty malt action present. Fruitiness here is a pleasant mix of sweet and bitter: tangerine and apricot balance the grapefruit and piney hop resins. A bit of a pithy character lingers on the palate during the fine finish to this offering. I'm likin' it! Too bad it's supposedly retired. Prosit!

Apparently brewed once in 2008 although purchased by me recently in 2010. Time to drink; no sense holding on to this one much longer.

Pours a beautiful dark clear orange amber with a thick, firm and pillowy white head that's lasting.

Nose is primarily pears but a nice hint of carmel and malt.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and really well balanced.

Flavors are bold and very integrated of rich malt carmel burnt toffee/burnt toast with a nice burnt toast bitter/espresso bitter finish. Still drinkable, rich and pleasant but this is not one to keep longer; it's "there" and on its way downhill soon. Still fruity, malty complex and pleasant with a nice bitter finish.

Age has been fine for this one and now it's time to drink it or be disappointed later. Just my opinion.

A 22 ounce bomber bottle poured into a nonic pint glass. The ale appears a cloudy medium apricot color with an inch of bone white foam. Nose and flavor consist of slightly resinous pine, orange and tangerine, and a decent amount of caramel malt to cut the bitterness. A notch better than medium bodied and amply carbonated.. Worth a try.

A: Dark copper color, huge white head that sticks around.
S: Big malty smell with little to no hop smell, IS THIS AN I.P.A?
T: Some bitterness but mostly sweet maltiness. out of balance I think, not my idea of an I.P.A
M: OK carbonation, slick mouth feel
D: I just don't like it so drinkability for me is low. I won't buy or recommend this vile concoction ever again, and I like IPAs.

A- Pours a hazy auburn color with a huge dense and cloud like off white head.

S- Big citurs hops and tropical note lead, backed by some floral notes and hints of malt.

T- A bit muddled on the lead but moves into heavy citrus and floral hops, finishes herbal/ piney.

M- Thick and rich, coats the mouth well.

D- This is a great effort for and organic brewery. I would say minus the ABV this more resembles an IPA. Still ver close to greatness.

22oz bottle.

Poured a medium to deeper golden color with an average sized off white head. Aromas of pine, citrus and some caramel. Tastes of citrus and caramel. I wrote down that I did not find this overly complex but still drinkable.

Notes from and tasted on: 04/05/08.

A: Pours a dark orange color with a one finger off white head that leaves quite a bit of nice lacing around the glass.

S: A nice aroma of piney hops that is nicely balanced by a sweet caramel malt scent. Very light smell for a Imperial IPA but it is a nice overall aroma.

T: Starts off with a somewhat earthy flavor that leads way into a pretty bitter hop flavor and then sort of mellows out into a doughy malt flavor. Just not enough for me going on here. It's not a bad beer by anymeans but I've had better Imperials and I've also had better beers from Butte Creek. (I should qualify my score on this part as I'm scoring the taste based on Imperials, it'd be much higher when compared to other types of beer)

MF: Pretty light on the palette a bit oily which is nice for the style.

D: Eh it's fairly drinkable I suppose, it does hide the alcohol content quite well, I'm just not all that impressed with the taste. It was good for a sample, and I'll definitely be checking out the next release as well.

A very nice surprise. Normally, my experience with "organic" beers is some flat, grainy, hippie crap. This is the complete opposite. Pours murky orange with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is packed full of hops, pine, and grapefruit. Very resiny taste that is smoothed out by the malt. Chewy mouthfeel, but not sticky. A ridiculously good Imperial.

Beautiful dark bronze-amber colour, with a sticky head of yellowish pancake bubbles. Carbonation is large bubbled, and passes rapidly through the body, which doesn't give me a lot of hope about the weight of it. Lacing is good, even though the head collapses to a film pretty quickly. Nice looking beer though.

Nice citrus and honey notes on the nose. There's a pretty strong resin character, but it comes off very phenolic. Under this is a type of grainy sweetness. And for all of this, it's not a big, beefy, robust bouquet either. It's not a bad DIPA nose, but it's quite generic.

Also not huge on the palate, but the tropical and citrus notes are pleasant even still. There's not a huge amount of bitterness, although the alcohol heat is very prominent and a little harsh. A pleasant sweetness on the front palate is its best aspect as far as I'm concerned. The longer it lingers, the less pleasant it gets. Mouthfeel is quite nice at least, full and rippling smooth.

It's not a bad beer, by a long shot, but it's not a great IPA when compared to some of the best beers in the style. Quite drinkable, and I wouldn't turn down another bottle - but next time I'll choose something else.

A: Poured reddish brown with lots of foamy head, good retention and lacing.
S: Sweet, floral, and spicy. Not a strong aroma.
T: Sweet, citrus, orange and lemon, and smooth hoppiness and bitterness to finish it off.
M: Watery but smooth.
D: This is a solid imperial but not the best. Its not the hoppiest imperial there is either, but is definitely a solid beer. I recommend it.

Poured into tulip glass; golden-brown with fluffy tan head. Dotted lacing along with a hazy appearance.

Aroma is biscuity, piney hop. Nothing really stands out but notes of booze, pepper, and grass.

Bitter hops attack the palate and combine with a tart, roasty malt. The high-end bitterness really dominates the overall presentation & leaves the mouth extremely dry.

Not a great beer but not bad either. They are selling it for $2.99 a bomber which is nice but not sure if I would seek it out again.

A - Like natural apple cider. Head .5 inch, reduces to ring and webby lacing.

S - Hop madness, a swirl of sweet malt, some barn, sharp aromas.

T - Better as it warms. Lots of hops, some sweet malt, but not as sweet as I would have thought. Sharp tangy middle - maybe just not as balanced toward malt as expected.

M - Medium body, good coating, more than enought carb.

D - High ABV and not a beer that begs you to keep on drinking it.

A- Pours a nice amber color with an off-white head that leave a decent amount of lace.

S- The aroma is definitely on the faint side for a DIPA. There is some hops in the aroma, but not nearly enough. Also, there really isn't much in terms of malt in the aroma either. I am also picking up on some sour and chalky notes as well that aren't very pleasant.

T- The taste is much better than the aroma suggests, but is still lacking.

M- Thin-medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation.

D- Not a great DIPA, but not horrible either. Drinks pretty decent considering the ABV. Pretty decent attempt at a DIPA, but I'm not overly impressed.

A - Pours clear and dark orange to copper in color. The (barely off-white) head came to the rim of the glass and took a few minutes to fade to a decent cap. There is something to be said for the lacing around the glass. This is one good-looking beverage.

S - Pine and grass come through first. Caramel and candy sugar show up toward the end. The aroma is mild. Too mild.

T - Earthy flavors are in abundance with this beer. Got notes of pine, grass, grain, and tobacco with a small amount of fruity hops on the end. Base malt is strong with notes of caramel and brown sugar. Alcohol is somewhat hidden and stays warm. Very mild for the IIPA style.

M - Medium bodied with good carbonation. Finish is clean, bitter, and does not stick around for too long.

D - Drinkability is average. This is a very mild IIPA that just was not close enough to style for my taste. It goes down easy enough and the alcohol is low enough to make drinking a couple of these no problem. Glad I got to try it but I probably would not seek it out again.
