Bottled on 9.29.04 -- consumed on 10.8.04.
Straw gold with a very active, durable foam on top (owing to "Weizenmalz" I presume. This is unique among Kölsch interpretations I think). Biscuits, spicy, dried herbs, toasted hazelnuts and almonds, green melon fruit and fantastic, helium-like, finely-milled bubbles characterize this seamless Kölsch experience. The flavors are perfectly transparent while concealing any sense of raw ingredients. No grain, alcohol or hop elements can be isolated in the aromas or flavors. Instead it presents an artful finished form that seems at place in any picture of primeval pleasure. Dry, light and deliciously permanent.

Next to Päffgen this is undoubtly the best Kölsch in Köln and probably the world. As Päffgen is not available in a bottle, this brew would take the title of 'best bottled Kölsch in the world'. However, beware, this brew has a 'best taste date' of 3 months in bottle. I, however, see this as a sign of quality.

The body is rich, full, and a deep looking gold. Its white head shines and last slightly longer than comparable Kölsch beers. Its aroma is slighly citrusy and very floral. Taste is much the same but notes of vanilla come through the taste to complement the full malt profile (by Kölsch standards) to balance out a complex and alluring flavor. Mouthfeel is smooth and much more fullfilling than other Kölsch beers. One of the more drinkable beers I have ever came across. Find it. Drink it.

P.S. This and Päffgen are the only cask served Kölsch beers in the world.
