Good beer but very typical of an American IPA. This beer definately smels better than it tastes (it still tastes god though, but the aroma is awesome). It has a nice hoppy character but there is something off, i feel, with the carbonation. Well, not off, but just something that I do not like. Still a pretty good beer.

This has to be one of the worst IPAs I have ever consumed. Far to malty to even taste like an IPA. No good bitters. Heavy aftertaste. Would not recommend.

I got a 6-pack of bottles on sale for $5 at my local Lucky’s Market. It was a decent IPA, especially for the price. Fairly average, nothing that made it special. But I’d buy it again when it’s on sale.

This is a very good brew and a worthwhile example of its type. It doesn't have any truly off putting characteristics but it also isn't the kind of ale that causes any kind of inspiration. It is worth buying a six pack if only to add to your experience library but it isn't one I would keep buying because it isn't one of my favorites.

L: Cloudy golden orange, with a thin eggshell head. Some lacing.

S: Orange peel, passion fruit

T: Oranges, grapefruit rind, with a slightly bread malt. Finishes with bitter sticky hops, very floral.

F: Medium carbonation, no complaints. The sweetness makes it feel a little heavier than it is.

O: I wouldn't seek it out, but it's a solid IPA. Could use a something more? Very floral, but not in a complex way. I would've loved the addition of something herbal.

Pours only slightly hazy light copper-gold with medium head that left a little lace. Nose wasn't particularly big for what it was labeled as. Light citrus along with slightly herbal earthiness. Taste is about the same. Good balance between malt and hops. Overall, just under middle-of-the-road and unmemorable.

In my opinion a good beer has a nice blend of hops and malts...not too bitter... nor too sweet. This one falls into that category for me. This has the best of both worlds..a great blend.

Served on tap at the Owl Bar in Baltimore. If you're around there, check it out. I found this beer to be a good, if somewhat pedestrian offering in the IPA category. Pours a dark yellow/amber. Decent head and lacing. Fruity hoppy aromas. Taste is smooth, hoppy, but uncomplex. It just tases like any old IPA, I didn't find anything that separates it from the pack like Bells, Stone, etc. A good beer though and worth having again.

I had this brew on tap at Joe's Place in Gainesville, Fl. They brought it to me in a pint glass. Nice cloudy burnt amber color but no chance to see the head. Smells of good floral and citrus hops with a hint of spice. Taste was smooth and well rounded with pleasant hop oils engulfing my palate. Swirled between grapefruityness and blood orange like qualities. A nice IPA.

Sampled at the Flour City Brewers' Fest 2008. Blue Point Hoptical Illusion is a slightly sparkling golden ale with a dense white head that exhibits good retention. The aroma is spicy, fruity and grassy. It is medium bodied and smooth with a crisp finish. The flavor balance is good. It tastes a bit grainy and maybe slightly phenolic. Not bad.

Appearance: Light amber, white head quickly disappearing not much lacing.

Smell: Grapefruit, sweet maltness, citrusy, a touch of crystal malt.

Taste:Citrusy, crystal malt, a bunch of C hops, nice hops, bitterness, and balanced by a sweet, rich but light malt bill.

Mouthfeel: light, sappy, resiny, good carbonation.

Overall a nice IPA wish I would have had a chance to buy more.

Bonus bottle from KpLynch..Thanks bro!

Pours dark gold with a heavy chill haze, and a half-inch head of white foam.
Retention is moderate and a few streaks of lacework appear for the duration.

Aromatics are a blend of biscuity malt, pine sap, citrus fruit, and pineapple skin.
Not incredibly pungent or floral, but square on and crisp for a standard IPA.

Medium bodied, drying and minerally crisp.

Dried citrus fruits and spruce on the pallet. Some lightly toasted malt follows through and a smidge of warming alcohol.
Drying and firmly bitter with a chaulky nod.

Finishes with pineapple skins, biscuit malt, and mild grapefruit with apricots.

Tasty enough, and this ones seeming pretty fresh. I'd have another one!

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a SA perfect pint:

Appearance: Pours a light amber color with a big fluffy white head. Nice lacing down the glass.

Smell: Smells a bit vegital but overall not bad. a bit of onion or garlic, maybe some dark malty aromas as well and a hint of citrus.

Taste: Taste has a nice citrus punch, a little underwhelming though. Not bad. Malty balance leads to a off balanced finish.

Mouthfeel: good carbonation, maybe a bit overcarbonated but overall good. Dry aftertaste.

Drinkability: Overall i would have this again, but i wouldnt go running out to find it. Its a good IPA to go with a steak because of the onion/garlic hop profile. Reccommended but not your typical IPA.

Draught: This one pours a clear, lighter amber color. There was a bit of a white head on it that leaves some lacing. Decent enough aroma. Grapefruit nose with a hint of pine. The taste is decently bitter, with some grapefruit and pine notes. Pretty well balanced with a decent malt body. A very good example of an IPA.
