This has to be one of the worst IPAs I have ever consumed. Far to malty to even taste like an IPA. No good bitters. Heavy aftertaste. Would not recommend.

L: Cloudy golden orange, with a thin eggshell head. Some lacing.
S: Orange peel, passion fruit
T: Oranges, grapefruit rind, with a slightly bread malt. Finishes with bitter sticky hops, very floral.
F: Medium carbonation, no complaints. The sweetness makes it feel a little heavier than it is.
O: I wouldn't seek it out, but it's a solid IPA. Could use a something more? Very floral, but not in a complex way. I would've loved the addition of something herbal.

In my opinion a good beer has a nice blend of hops and malts...not too bitter... nor too sweet. This one falls into that category for me. This has the best of both worlds..a great blend.

This is a very good brew and a worthwhile example of its type. It doesn't have any truly off putting characteristics but it also isn't the kind of ale that causes any kind of inspiration. It is worth buying a six pack if only to add to your experience library but it isn't one I would keep buying because it isn't one of my favorites.

Pours only slightly hazy light copper-gold with medium head that left a little lace. Nose wasn't particularly big for what it was labeled as. Light citrus along with slightly herbal earthiness. Taste is about the same. Good balance between malt and hops. Overall, just under middle-of-the-road and unmemorable.

Pours a deep burnt orange with big fluffy white heat that leaves nice sheets of lace behind as it settles, fresh hop aromas dominate very piney with an underlying herbal/grassiness made me wanna jump in.True to form this is hop driven very resiny and piney and quite dry and very fresh tasting.A slightly sweet caramel maltiness keeps this somewhat in check but this ale is most definently a hop bomb,a damn good east coast IPA glad to try it.

This brew was the mystery choice on tap at Willibrew. It was golden yellow in color with a good amount of carbonation. Head started out finger high and slowly receded to a nice foamy covering which provided some of the best cling to the glass that I've seen.
Smell is dominantly citrus hops with a bicuity malt aroma coming through. Taste is heavily hopped, but with a nice citrus flavor and spiced enough to counter the hops slightly. The hops are complex with an herbal and orange-citrus flavor. Mouthfeel is creamy and this is very easy to drink, a solid filtered IPA.

The Hoptical Illusion pours from the 12oz bottle into my SN tulip a crisply autumnal amber orange with a nice inch of cragly white foam on top. Lots of active carbonation rushes up from the bottom. Aromas of rich sweet caramel intertwine with resinous citric, pine bough hops. Fresh sticky green hops flash in my mind. Pink grapefruit, orange, peach, herbal goodness.
First sip brings an underlying body of caramelly pale malts overlayed by a heavy helping of grapefruity citric hops. Hints of pine needles. A sweet onset is followed by a steady increase in bitterness on the way down. Slightly bready on the finish with a lingering green bitter hop oil. A pretty darn tasty IPA that brings the hops.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with small, fast moving cluster carbonation that dances across the palate. This is the type of brew that is almost gone before you even start drinking it. I would love to have a sixer...but alas this lone bottle is all I have. A nice showing here out of Long Island.

Why do I think a slightly hoppy Bud Light. Better than Coors but not by much. Very disappointed. I really would have been better off with a Bud Light or Coors and saved about five bucks! I would not recommend this beer at all. It's the first High Point I've tried and probably the last.

This beer was a clear golden color with a small white head and no lacing whatsoever. Wonderful aroma: floral, citrus, sweet malt, all blending well together. The sweet malt was upfront in the taste, quickly turning to grapefruit and a bit of pine. Mild, not a hop bomb. Very enjoyable.
