No children, no cry! In true Rastafarian spirit – drinking our RastafaRye Ale directly benefits underprivileged kids. Everything is Irie with our award-winning RastafaRye Ale, a hearty rye malt, blended with fresh West Coast hops resulting in a delicious, deep copper ale with just the right amount of rye flavor to offset the spicy, floral characteristics of the hops. The Blue Point Brewing Company donates a portion of all RastafaRye Ale sales to They Often Cry Outreach (TOCO) a Taj Weekes charity foundation that helps orphaned and underprivileged children in the Caribbean and around the world.

A: crystal clear; copper colored; 1+ finger finely pored light tan head that receded to a thin cap; very nice thick rings of lace;

S: sweet malt and a bit of rye spice;

T: sweet malt for a moment, then it mixes with a sourness that made it tough to drink; mild bitterness on the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: Best By date is still 2 months away; the nice rye spice in the aroma was replaced by an off putting sourness in the flavor;

Blue Point Brewing Co. "RastafaRye Ale"
12 fl. oz. can coded "26MAY21 BP 0954" and sampled on 10May21
$1.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: Wow, it's 7.6% ABV; I wasn't expecting that. It's a clear deep amber in color, even copper I'd say, beneath a frothy head of off-white foam. The aroma is clean and fresh and you can smell the rye malt. It's grainy and a little bit spicy, and there are some floral notes to it as well. The flavor follows. I don't know why some people seem to think that rye isn't very distinct because I get it quite clearly. There's also a little bit of caramel there, and it's gently sweet against a moderate bitterness. It finishes dry and a little bit spicy with a note of caramel lingering shortly. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp. The head has held up pretty well, and there's some nice lacing left behind but it's not the greatest. It's pretty decent overall, and the rye makes it a pleasant change.

12 ounce bottle poured into a Duvel tulip glass. Best by date of 5/23/21.

L---Crystal clear, medium amber color. Medium white head faded quickly to a cap and left nice lacing.

S---Nicely balanced as both hops and malts are present. Some rye and caramel.

T---Rye and caramel follow from the nose.

F---Medium bodied with a bit of a filling quality.

O---A nice beer. It would've been better with more of a rye presence.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is transparent gold, head is off white with fine bubbles and presents 1 finger thick, dissipating to thin top with spotty lacing on the glass.

Smell is quite pleasant - blend of light caramel and earthy rye malt, moderate hop aroma with citrus, pine, earth notes - lightly sweet, subtly spicy notes.

Taste is similar with light caramel and drier, earthy rye malt, moderate hop flavor with citrus pith, pine, earth.

Mouthfeel is low/moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, moderate bitter and light drying

Overall, ass a rye ale this is build and smells, tastes as advertised, and expected.

Blue Point RastafaRye (7.6%) at refrigerator temp poured into a Bluepoint Cask Ale Festival beer glass. The beer looks and smells great, a nice amber body and whitish head. The aroma is nice and malty/hoppy. The flavor is good overall, but I notice an abrupt alcohol taste. (The aftertaste reminds my failing memory of Rainier Ale in the 70s?) I regularly drank the Rasta from the old River Avenue brewery, and thought that beer was a more mellow drink. Maybe I'm just nostalgic.

-clear amber can pour with a thin foam cap.
The aroma is of rye and some malt sweetness.
The flavor is rye dominated with strong resinous aspects. The hop bitterness is moderate.
This is well named.

Just a traditional rye ale with those classic spicy notes! Nothing too crazy, and not a boring beer, nice crisp finish!
