I had this on-tap at the Pony Bar in NYC. Hazy orange with a nice tan head, the hops don't hit you over the head, but it has a nice smell of orange/grapefruit/caramel.

It's also one of the maltiest double IPAs I can remember tasting, with a lot of citrus, some apricot/pear, and some burnt caramel, with a bitter piney aftertaste. I thought the mouthfeel was on the thin side, and probably wouldn't get this beer again if other IPAs were available, but it wasn't a bad brew at all.

This IPA poured out as a nice looking clear golden color, The head was fluffy and white. The smell of the beer was hoppy and had just a little hint of malt on the nose. The taste of the beer was nice and bitter but I felt like it was just a little unbalanced. Seemed to me like it was almost missing something. The mouthfeel was decent, good carbonation and drinkablity. Overall this beer was pretty good but I couldn't really see what made it special enough to celebrate a decade.

On-tap at Rattle N Hum

A large, 2 finger paper white cap sits atop an orange amber body. A good amount of bubbles force there way north. A huge amount of lace as the cap slowly recedes.

Pine needles and ruby red grapefruit with a foundation of clean caramel malt. Some soft tropical fruits round out a hop-forward nose.

Sweet, sticky caramel hits a little sooner than you would like, but the hops soon take over. This is definitely an alpha acid delivery vehicle, but it is somewhat balanced out by the malt. Pine resin and ruby red grapefruit bitterness with soft tropical fruit sweetness and another rush of grapefruit bitterness as we cross the finish line.

Huge, sticky mouthfeel with a medium to full body. A mild dose of bitterness in the finish with a cumulative effect.

I found this to be a little bit of a struggle. The bitterness was never an issue (as I am a subscriber to the hop lovers of America) but the heaviness of the beer wore on me.

Had this on tap at Rattle n Hum in New York City. Dark copper colour with a finger of head. Great head retention and lacing all the way down the glass. Smells of pine and grapefruit hops, though pine shines through more. There is a huge caramel malt balance. This has some bitterness, but it is a very sweet IPA. Smooth mouthfeel.

Appearance: pours a slightly hazy orange color with a big 3" fluffy head that lasts.

Smell: soft pine and grapefruit along with some fruity sweetness.

Taste: caramel with a stronger pine and grapefruit presence than detected by the nose. Pear and orange sweetness linger in the background. Bitterness is nicely balancing.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Lightly crisp throughout with a moderate dry finish.

Drinkability: very easy drinking IPA that hit the spot. Worthy of a try by any hophead.

Aromas are of ample citrus with a little pine, there is some nice pale and caramel malt in there as well.

The taste is really quite enjoyable. The IBUs are there and you get the bitterness right from the start. Balanced bitterness countered by a good malt backbone. I really appreciate the fact that this is so even on the palate. The caramel malt does a good job of enforcing the malt character without being too sweet. A nice bready quality with fresh copious Pacific hops.

Overall I enjoyable this brew. This is a good hoppy, balanced, amberish IPA, nothing crazy, but really enjoyable. stronger session beer though.

Surprised that this is the first bottle review.

Bomber purchased at Burbon Street, lost the price, but definitely under $10.

A rich somewhat dark orangey amber body, plenty of haze, topped by several inches of rocky white foam.

Enticing aroma of mixed citrus, dominated by oranges.

A sturdy malt foundation coats the tongue, quickly giving way to an explosion of juicy fruit throughout the mouth. Very well balanced while still being plenty hoppy. Alcohol not over the top but definitely sensed.

Solid medium-plus mouthfeel. Good drinkability, though one bomber per night would probably be wise.

Been awhile since I had a Blue Point. A nice reintroduction. A big IPA, but not a West Coast Imperial. Its own beer. Recommended.

Had this on cask at Rustico. Described as an American Imperial IPA.

Looks positively epic. A brown and orange murky suspension. Almost emulsified, even at room temperature. Yeasty sediment settles to the bottom. Big sticky light khaki head.

Nose is hop heavy, with a slight fruity pear whiff. Some pine.

Taste is strong lingering hops. Oily pine. Slight bit of malt, but not much. More hops. Alcohol is completely hidden, even on cask. No detectable sweetness. Could use some balance.

Good mouthfeel. Thick. Decent carbonation. Good drinkability. Well crafted.

This is one of the best ipa's I've ever had and I've had many! I' a hophead admittedly but this beers aroma hits u as the server gives you the beer. I'm not good enough to know what kind of hops are used but I intend to find out soon. The taste is hoppy but not overly bitter. It has great mouth feel and the after taste makes you just want more. While some ipa's the hops is very strong this one seems to strike the perfect balance between aroma, flavor and bitterness. Being from mass I hadn't even heard of this beer until my wife and I went to la fiesta in dover nh. Which is a great pizza place that serves many a local craft beer. I look forward to trying more beers from this company

On tap at Mr Beerys

A- pours a deep dark caramel color. A fingers worth of head that fades immediately. No lacing left.

A- piney hops and grapefruit in a big way. Some sweeter malts are in the form of caramel.

T- follows the nose. Pine hops and grapefruit. A hint of tangarines. A fair amount of malts on the back end that provides a sweetness to balnce out the bitterness of the hops.

M- on the thinner side of medium. Moderate carbonation. A dry finish with a lingering bitterness.

D- this was pretty decent. The higher abv would slow me down a bit but I won't knock it for that.

This beer poured a copper color with an off-white head. Thick lacing was visible, as well as lively carbonation. The initial smell of the beer was that of citrus hops, more specifically grapefruit. The initial taste of the brew was that of the citrus hops and pine. Overall, the beer had a bitter bite to it and had a medium body with medium carbonation.

Of all of the brews tasted at Blue Point, this was probably the best of the bunch. I'd have this again, if it was available.

On draft at The Blind Tiger, NYC.

Poured a deep copper hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a burnt caramel aroma with a light citrus hop.

The taste was malt driven with toasted malt and burnt caramel sweetness. A nice cleansing citrus hop appeared toward the finish.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style.

Overall a complex, tasty and well-balanced IPA.

Growler from St. James Beverage. Pours a brown/amber with a gorgeous light tan head. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruits, and sweet caramel malt. Flavor of sweet malt and citrusy, bitter hops in the finish. Definitely on the malty side. This is actually a pretty good IPA (or IIPA, who knows?), especially for Blue Point. Miles better than their standard IIPA.

Had this from a growler -

A - Dark for a IPA - Amber color almost like a brown ale.

S - Hops jump out at you. Not overwhelming but its not a DIPA so it def works. Smells piny and citrusy.

T - Piny and citrusy. A nice typical bitter finish for a IPA. Nice malt balance as well.

M - Semi thick for an IPA - Very malty for a IPA but it works - Nice balance

D - is good. Goes down nice. Can def have a few in a sitting.

A - This is one dark IPA, looks like more of an amber. Nice white head that faded quickly and left some lacing on top.

S - Was expecting a bouquet of hop aromas since this was an anniversary IPA and I was left slightly disappointed. There is nothing wrong with the aroma, the hops really do come through, it was just a bit one dimensional. A little citrus a little pine, there is some nice malt in there.

T - The IBUs are there and you get the bitterness right from the start. Balanced bitterness countered by a good malt backbone. Not exceptional, I get that one dimensional feeling again, like they used a lot of hops but only one or two varieties without numerous additions. The caramel malt does a good job of enforcing the malt character without being too sweet. A nice bready quality almost make the beer taste wholesome. This is a good hoppy, balanced, amber, IPA...just expected something a bit more "special" for a 10th anniversary ale.

M - Right on, this i show I like my IPAs. Not cloyingly sweet but not bone dry either. A nice full beer that still remains digestible.

D - It is almost too drinkable, I wanted something that was going to give my tastebuds a workout. Although this beer pleases and is quite good, it was a little more ordinary than I was hoping. It does make for a stronger session beer though.

Overall, I liked this beer. I was hoping for something more but that is my own fault for having preconceived notions. I was thinking Blue Point would put out something hard hitting for an anniversary, but instead they put out a good balanced IPA. Nothing wrong with that.
