Really interesting beer almost ginger in taste. Looks really good but has a bud beer type feel. Overall nice taste and feel; not to sweet.

Pours a clear, copper color. 2/3 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, hint of all spice, and sweet malt. Fits the style of a Pumpkin Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, pale malt, hint of hops, hint of all spice, and sweet malt. Overall, decent appearance, aroma, body, and blend.

poured from the bottle into pint glass....

L: amber / copper color with a nice head (abt 1 finger)
S: nice balance of nutmeg, coriander aromas, not overpowering
T: smooth drinking, the spice and pumpkin balanced well with the malts...however, left a bit of an aftertaste

Overall: a nice pumpkin ale that I would seek out again when looking for this style

my first pumpkin beer of the year, a style i like a lot more than other folks, and maybe i am biased because i have missed this flavor profile and it may be somewhat generic, but i really liked this beer and reckon its a bit underrated on here. rusty orange in color with a decent half inch of airy head on it, looks the part. aroma of clove and honey, more spice than squash, but certainly plenty of both, nothing subtle about this. the flavor shows a little cinnamon, brown sugar, a rather robust malt base with toffee notes, and the bitter vegetable itself there a bit more in the finish, clove again, maple, its pretty layered, and even though its all the same flavors everyone else uses in these, its a little more layered and complex than a lot of them, and not quite as sugary on the back end, i could easily drink a sixer of this. higher quality beer than its getting credit for, awesome spice profile and good carbonation to clear it up in the finish. very autumnal, a little early yet for these, but this is a nice first one to kick off the season!

Poured into a pint glass.

3.0 A: Clear light orange color. One and a half fingers of frothy off-white head. Retention is below average and no lacing is left.

2.75 S: Light pumpkin spices with cinnamon and nutmeg most notable. A light hint of caramel accompany mildly bready malts. Pretty mundane overall.

2.25 T: For an unimpressive as the nose is, the taste is more so. It tastes like a half assed pumpkin ale cut with water. Weak spices, weak malts without any strong anchoring flavor, and no hop flavor presence.

2.0 M: Light body. Watery feel. Moderate carbonation. No creaminess to speak of.

2.0 D: Sad excuse of a pumpkin beer.

DATE TASTED: November 20, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Hobgoblin pint... OCCASION: having said goodbye to the boys' pack leader, I now turn my attention to Shan's birthday tomorrow... APPEARANCE: odd, burlap-patterned label; extremely lively, with herds of bubbles cascading upwards; an equally handsome amber orange body with clarity; snow white head is two-fingered, thick and creamy--the retention is impressive... AROMA: thick pumpkin mixes with allspice, cinnamon, and sharper scents like cheddar jack.. an astringent, medicinal aroma pushes back and cloys, making the experience varied... PALATE: fluid, soft and warming for 5.5% ABV; drinks like a lager...little aftertaste, and the pace is swift in its sipping--sessionable for a spice/vegetable beer...TASTE: a nice malty pumpkin is the majority of the profile, with a lighter flavor than expected; the spices are mostly aligned, with some astringent fluctuation... OVERALL: as pumpkin beers go, not too shabby--not forgettable, but not unforgettable either...one of the better looking seasonals...
