On draft at The Lark, East Northport, NY.

Poured a hazy medium brass hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured peppery and piney hops mingled with a bright yeast ester.

The taste was spicy on several levels with pepper coming from both hops and yeast. Nice lingering earthy sweetness.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style.

Overall a very nice hop forward example of the style.

On tap at the Mellow in Greensboro.Poured into a standard pint glass a peach-like color with a 1/2 finger white head atop.Fresh floral hop aromas with some citric edge as well, mild spice wich was more pronounced on the palate.Spiced notes along with citric hop flavors, the spice might be a bit much but it's still got a good hop profile.I really like the aromas of this beer and the big use of American hops, maybe just tone down the yeasty/spiced notes a tad.

Growler filled at Yorktown Beverage, Yorktown, NY

Pour is clouded medium honey/yellowed amber, lifts a rather huge and active off white head. Head stays and stays, leaves plenty of residual froth, and more then ample irregular bands of lace.

Fresh smelling and pungent nose of flowery goodness, infused with some spicy hop notes.

Flavorful , complex and tasty brew. The "Belgian" character/influence here comes in the form of the wit/white beer style. Some slight bubblegum picked up as well as the wit influenced creamsicle character. Hops are evident, but only moderatly biting. More for balance rather then assault. Nicely done, sort of a wit on hop steroids.

Sure this one would be great with some peppery salads, mussels, and all manner of quality cheeses.

Nice new brew from Blue Point, I hope this one is widely available come summer time

Edit: the review below is based on Batch 1 on tap, and was extremely fresh. The beer absolutely has not held up to this standard in mass production.

A – Bright and stormy straw gold. Beautiful, almost saison-like, white head. Nice lace and great retention.

S – Sweet honey, chamomile, soft yeast, banana, and a stellar mango note.

T – Opens soft and malty for a moment befoe exploding with juicy mango and orange. A floral bitterness rounds out the backend and keeps the sweetness in check.

M – Pillowy with a smooth, fully body. Nice carbonation livens the profile.

O – . Incredibly drinkable with stellar balance and a great flavor profile, this is definitely my surprise beer of 2011. Imho this is the best beer BluePoint has ever put out, and the style is a totally new direction for them

This beer was on draft at the Amsterdam Ale House on Manhattan's Upper West Side for a while. I was very impressed with this beer and even more so when I saw that it was a belgian IPA, which I typically don't love.

The color was orange/amber, a bit cloudy with a nice white fully head.

Aroma was a great combination of hops and summer fruits, I guess from the yeast. Very inviting.

Flavor was also very complex and also great. Bitterness upfront with plenty of hop flavor and other spices and fruits.

A great beer that I will look forward to having a bunch of times in the future.

BLUE POINT WHITE IPA: 6.0% ABV. BELGIAN-STYLE WIT/ AMERICAN IPA HYBRID. White IPA is brewed with wheat for a Belgian twist that is balanced perfectly by well rounded hops character. Brewed specifically for the 13th Anniversary of the brewery and debuted at their celebration. Saw this locally so nabbed a 32 oz fill yesterday.

a - through the growler looks of a honey/orange. poured into my capt lawrence taster tulip. settled into the glass much more yellow with a finger of frothy white head. very honey, rich looking.

s - bubblegum belgian bpa style. soft and sweet. you can definitely pick out the wit characteristics...a bit orange peel and clove. the american ipa seems to be more in the background with some comes across more sweet and bubblegum like which makes me thing BPA.

t - the bitterness from the ipa shows itself in the taste, but again some orange peel and banana which mixes to give an almost bubblegum vibe and dominate any significant ipa characteristics. sugar sweet and not piny hop.

m - medium to full bodied with a touch of bitterness on the finish. overall this comes across as a belgian pale ale or belgian ipa. a bit tingly.

o - overall this is pretty solid. very refreshing and great for the warm weather. i was fairly impressed with this beer. seems to fit best in the BA category of Belgian IPA or Belgian Pale Ale, but the description at the growler station listed it as a wit / ipa hybrid.
