A decent little Kolsch. Nothing earth- shattering here. I had this during Christmas Market time in Koln. This beer was a bit spicier than I thought it would be, but in a pleasant way. The look, smell, and taste all reminded me of summer. A nice little beer.

Bottle from realale in Twickenham. Pretty nice beer, tastes fairly average with crisp, light malts lifting up hops which provide some spice and a bit of fruit. But what really lifts the beer into being good is the perfect, velvety carbonation that just makes it really drinkable without just seeming flat like many cask lagers seem to do.

Drank on draft. Pours clear straw. Very mild aroma but malt comes through. Taste is clean with malty smoky taste at forefront and more than slight bitterness on backend. Mouthfeel is more ale like than lager like which is great. My new favorite kolsch.

Golden colour. Thin head shortly lived. Smells of freshly cut grass and slightly citrus. Tastes dry despite bubbly carbonation. Hops are subtle, grain too. Feels bitter, dry but not unpleasant. Drinkable on a hot day but not a regular.

500ml bottle poured into a pint glass

Look: Looks like a pilsner - clear, golden yellow with a fluffy white head. Good retention, some lacing.

Smell: Very clean, almost clinical and very German. Good balance of hops and grain, with more of a bias towards the latter. Hints of citrus, herbs and cut grass. Quite floral too.

Taste: Much like the smell - very clean and refreshing. The hop character comes through a bit more, but there are also hints of grain and floral notes. For something with five ingredients, the flavour has quite a bit going for it.

Feel: Quite light, as its appearance might suggest and smooth with it - it lacks the astringence that some German beers have. Even so, it has a good mouthfeel and goes down very nicely indeed. Would be a superb summer drink.

Overall: Kölsch is a new style for me, and I have to say I'm rather impressed - it's different enough from a lot of German lagers to make it seeking out. I can certainly envisage myself trying more beers in this style. Recommended.

I've got one in a see through bottle that made me suspicious, and 4,8 ABV. Clear golden colour, head fades away soon but leaves a good lace. Fresh hoppy semll, grainy, citrus and herbs. Medium to light body, feels really good in the tongue. Clean taste is similar to the smell, refreshing, hops, flowers. Very good indeed.

200 ml. draft @ Brauhaus Sion. Pours a clear golden with a creamy white head. Nose is nice, clean, crisp, lightly hoppy, hay, light grass & mellow yeast. Taste is light grass hops, hay, crisps, touch sweeter yeast, faint honey, slightly sweet, faint bread. Very clean, light, absolutely no off-flavours hear. Creamy, flavourful, highly enjoyable, great stuff & overall probably my favourite of the different Kölsch’s I tried in Cologne. Loved it.
