This year's Double Tempest XX has aromas of figgy pudding and dried plums that lead to notes of milk chocolate and vanilla as the beer opens up. Sweet dulche de leche balances the warmth of this extra strong beer that was aged in fresh bourbon barrels for 8 months
Aging Instructions: Cellar for 1-3 years in an upright position.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter
2016 Vintage
A- pours deep black with a one-finger foamy khaki head that reduces to a ring
S- plenty of barrel juice on the nose, with bold oak and undertones of caramel and vanilla. Chocolate brownie batter, dark roasted malt, anise, dark fruit notes of raisin and plum
T- as with the nose, plenty of barrel to be found up front; bourbon, oak and caramel. Mid-palate gives some rich chocolate brownie batter notes, as well as some char, raisins and dark cherries. The finish gives more bourbon, with a linger of rich chocolate and barrel
M- medium body with low carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel and a bit of a slick finish

Muted black with red edges and an almost non-existent tan ring.
I'm smelling cola, bourbon, sweet red fruit and pine, and also tasting cola and bourbon, with hot chocolate, biscuit and toffee.
---
I had this so-called "Dark Lord of Canada" again at DLD 2023 from a generous Torontonian, and found it to be significantly better than my original 3.29 score, exhibiting a pleasant moderate roast through a solidly firm carbonation exhaling a tolerable heat. It was also glossy black with a fairly solid, dark tan foam head, so my score is getting bumped up by a fair degree.

650ml bomber from mathieuc via CANBIF shared with Derek a few weeks back, Cheers boys!! From notes
A not quite jet black, short lived finger leaves no lace as expected from this monster, she’s got legs though, small particles and colour left behind on the glass
S vanilla, fudge, burnt caramel, chocolate syrup. Some hard to place spice, licorice, heaps of sweet bourbon barrel, piles of molasses, maybe some honey and a hint of booze
T much like the nose but the intensity gets pumped right up, more booze but it’s still in check, the barrels a little charred, very rich and intense
M thick and syrupy, silky, creams up from the bubbles, some heat but its pounding my chest and brain a little harder than my throat, I’ll be tasting this stuff tomorrow as I think some got stuck in my teeth
O I loved this one from start to finish; massive beer but you can drink it with ease
I’m glad I had a second glass to pour this stuff into but to be honest I think I could’ve taken it down solo if I had to. Very enjoyable beer and even in this scorching heat it was easy to drink, worth seeking out.

Black with a tan head, very thin ring of retention shows some leg.
Big boozy aroma, black strap molasses, dark rum with spice, liquorice.
Taste is alcohol forward, but lovely. Rum and treacle, vanilla, light liquorice, light roasted acidity, balanced bitterness.
Moderate to full body with a very drying finish.
Thanks Wordemupg!

2015 Vintage which clocks in at 14%.
Pours a thin head and black as night. Aroma & flavor of chocolate cake, sweet bourbon, cherries. Feel is a bit too viscous for my taste. It's heavy and i usually like heavy ones but this one i'm on the fence. I like it but not world class (for me).
