Pours clear light brass with a bubbly shortlived head. The aroma is of light lemony, tropical hops and cookie dough. The taste is light with a citrusy, tropical fruit salad. grassy hop profile and a balance of biscuity malts. Light bodied with bubbly, medium carbonation. A bit of lemon and grapefruit in the short finish.

A nice lager, hoppy but light in flavor overall. Worth a try, a great hot weather beer.

473 mL can from the LCBO, one of three beers in Amsterdam's "Top of the Hops" mixed pack. Dated Nov 14 2016 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a clear, pale straw-yellow colour, topped off with one inch of loose, bubbly white head that fades within the next 3-4 minutes. A soapy collar and ring of lacing remain in place afterwards, surrounding a thin, foamy cap. Fruity, tropical notes of pineapple juice, grapefruit and mango characterise the aroma, with a few notes of grainy, crackery pale malts, pine resin and floral hops.

The flavour follows the nose closely, with clean, grainy malts and subtle crackery sweetness, overlain by fruity El Dorado and citrusy Amarillo hops. Lemon zest, grapefruit and pineapple come through mid-sip, followed by floral, grassy notes and a weakly resinous astringency. Finishes dry and clean. Light-bodied, with lively carbonation that prickles the palate, giving this session lager a crisp, refreshing mouthfeel and above average drinkability.

Final Grade: 3.68, a B grade. Pale Rider is a decent addition to Amsterdam's portfolio, but it's probably not their most interesting release of 2016. Good for a light lager, but a bit of a bore compared to some of the other IPLs and ISAs out there right now. Given a choice between this and their Cruiser All Day Pale Ale, I'd probably opt for the latter, but this one's tamer hop character does make it the more sessionable of the two. Not something I'd seek out again, but worth a chance.

Golden with a very light haze, and almost no carbonation. Topped with 1 finger of white head.

Smells of grapefruit, Belgian pale ale yeast, black rubber, and candied pineapple.

Taste follows the nose, but all the scents I mentioned above are on equal par.

Very light body, refreshing and crisp, with moderate carbonation.

Got this one yesterday in Southern Ontario, drinking it in Muskoka today. Really refreshing brew, light and crisp but its an interesting combo of Belgian and American pale ales. Enjoying Nov 29th, 2017.

473 ml can served cold into an Upper Canada brewing pint glass. Part of a Christmas gift.

Appearance - pale, slightly hazy golden color. A decent finger and change of loose white head, staying power is modest. Some lacing encircles the glass.

Smell - Clean with some faint grainy and grassy notes and a nice little grapefruit kick. possibly orange as well.

Taste - Not a huge flavor, again some graininess mixed in with touches of citrus and some hops. Bitterness isn't terribly high but it's there.

Mouthfeel - Super easy drinking. Carbonation is fairly high and body is thin, but just right with this flavor profile.

Overall - Then end product here is greater than the sum of its parts. Well worth a try if you're looking for something on the lighter end and has some hop kick.

On tap @ Arabella Park - Decants a hazy unfiltered pale straw colored beer with a lasting creamy 1 finger white cap. Aroma is demure but pleasant…fruity, citrusy-lemongrass over grainy biscuit tones. Moderate body, smooth mouth feel. Flavour profile has a burst of citrus hops in front with chewy grainy malting following lightly drying finish with the lemony hops hanging in and a crisp bite at the finish. A wondrous mutant session beer for a summer patio – very drinkable and smooth as silk with deep flavor delivery.

Clear pale yellow under a short lived white bead, laceless. Appetizi g fruity hoppy nose with a whiff of grass. Fruity, juicy on the palate with a balanced dose of malt and a slightly bitter finish. Mouthfeel is full and fruity. Yeah. Fruity beer this one. I'm not generally a big Amsterdam fan because they dish so many average beers. This one's a better brew.
