Spring Bock
Amsterdam Brewery
Bock
ABV: 6.7%
Date: Has a code I cannot decipher.
My next foray into Amsterdam Brewing, the last was tasty. Just extracted from the fridge, the temp hovers around 44 degrees. The pour created a frothy and airy light tan head. Sadly the retention is nothing to speak about; left no lacing glass either. Charting the color around SRM 30 dark brown with ruby hues. The appearance is not much to brag about. The head was disappointing and going to knock off a few points.
Chocolate, coffee, and bread are the distinct aromas that I smell. Nosing the beer several more times, I detect herbal and some earthiness. I did not find any dark fruit profiles.
The flavors are chocolate, coffee, bread, roasted malts, a touch of smoke, and earthiness. I am perplexed; this beer has some characters of bock but just lacks depth.
The mouthfeel tannic and dry, finishing slightly warm. I wanted a tad more fullness in the body with the medium carbonation.
The bock is okay, yet far from spectacular. This beer does have the potential to become a great beer. I enjoyed it, but I would not search it out again.

500ml bottle
7.0% ABV
Queen’s Quay LCBO Outlet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)

$3.95
The beer poured a very dark brown, almost black colour (think coca-cola) with a short-lived brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, plums, and coffee. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is very malty, sweet, and very enjoyable. I liked this beer.

Delicious dark malty bock. Chocolate and slight soy sauce. Clean. Satisfying.

One dimensional. Bite, but, no substance. Disappointing to say the least. Improved slightly as it warmed.
Won't be purchasing again.

Bottle from the lcbo. Poured quite a dark brown with a nice amount of film and lacing.
S - malty caramel notes, some herbal spice, lemony, earthy, leather, with some sprucy resin notes, nice and foresty. Restrained but quite malty and resin spice, which is nice.
T - malty, a bit sweet with robust bready notes, complemented with some piney resin, apple fruit notes, caramel (quite a bit), some light spiciness, but overall its pleasingly malty and caramel, with a drying finish.
M - moderate feel, creamy and malty, moderate carbonation with a nice balance to the sweetness. Overall it drinks very easily and the alcohol is very restrained.
Quite a nice malty bock, some pleasant earthy hop notes come to balance it out, creamy and tasty feel to it. Altogether it was a tasty beer, a bit too sweet, but it was nice.
