Those who have been around the area awhile might recognize this place, located in the Ramada Inn on Jefferson Rd., as the old Rochester Brewpub. When the Rochester Brewpub closed (mid nineties?), it became Shannon Pub. Shannon Pub maintained brewing operations as a Rochester outlet of Buffalo Brewpub. After a few years of BBP's mediocre beers, brewing was discontinued. Shannon Pub continued as a beer/Irish bar for a few years. At present, Barnstormers continues the tradition of serving good beer. The fact that it's in the Ramada Inn shouldn't scare you off. It really doesn't look or feel like a hotel bar, the atmosphere is more like a sports bar (which may be equally scary to some). There's a long wood bar facing the doorway with tables in front of it and a pool table off to the side. You'll find 17 beers on tap. Noteworthy selections during my recent visit were the house brew - Red Baron Ale (brewed by Custom Brewcrafters), 2 or 3 other CB beers, Southern Tier Mild, one of Rohrbach's brews, Sierra Nevada Pale. The balance were the usual suspects. They were also offering a couple of draught specials. Food is pretty good. Don't make a special trip here, but if your in the Henrietta area it's worth a stop for a pint or two.

Barnstormers is oe of those bars that we have all been to. It isn't a chain, but it has that feel. In Henrietta in the Ramada Inn, it serves a lot of the local brews including Custom Brewcrafters and Rorbach. It's fairly comfortable with a decent staff who don't seem to mind serving you. The food was pretty good to. I only had a burger, but it was a damned good burger and it went well with my Red Baron Ale. This is a pretty good place to stop at if you're in the area. I'm absolutly sure that I'll be back.
