Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of grainy cereal notes with light bready ester is OK. Taste is also dominated by grainy cereal notes with light bready ester. Body is about average with good carbonation. Malt bill is a little bit off and overall really not much to get excited about.

A:
Pours a thick orange-brown with big, weird-looking bubbles; a small hint of a beige head immediately drops to a ring. No lacing; no retention. (2)
S:
Rich caramel with a touch of balsamic and apples some dark bread no hop presence whatsoever to my nose. (2.75)
T:
Bland bread flavor with green apples, some vague graininess. (2.25)
M:
Bubbly, light-medium body no finish. (2.5)
O:
I would say this was a singularly strange beer except that I have had another from these guys and it too was something else.
The beer (which may or may not be an Amber in the brewer's recipe book or mind or whatever) is "une brune" or brown. It pours weird, smells weird and drinks weird. Oddly enough, though, I am not 100% sure it is really 'off'. That is to say that it is neither undrinkable nor bad, per se. It looks okay, smells very intriguing, but undeniably weird. And is generally, uh, curious in every other way.
I see that these guys make a bunch of wild ales and it makes me wonder if that is their forte and their other beers don't come off as well (in addition to a possible sanitation problem at the brewery). Anyway, I drank it out of utter curiosity. Not worth the price whatsoever, though. I assume it was bad. I would try to find a fresh bottle to check, but everything I have had is this way so I assume that their beers are just like that. (2.5)
