A- murky with a yellow almost copper green aspect. Not much head.
S- lemon grass, citrus good old fashion musky sour kind of quality to it.
T- lemon tangy a little spice almost a bit of apple cider vinegar taste. A lot going on.
M- wish it had a bit more carbonation on the low side. When you first sip it it's almost smooth and flat in the carbonation comes on your tongue. The mouth feel is what I feel like let me down.
I- Not a bad beer at all, the flavor to me is where it shines. Easy drinking, though it's not the best beer in the style that I've had.

Americans seem confused. They seem to think that the traditional salt beer of northern Germany are sour, as brewers attach themselves to full-blown berlinerweiss instead. But with is soft tangy acidity and saline fullness, they should sit back and let Dollnitzer brewers show them how it's done.

Its cloudy translucence and canary hues layer into the glass with both a bready and champagne-like layering. As a cottony-white head constructs, the nose is greeted with bread, cookie dough and candied lemon drop. With its playful tartness and sprite acidity looming, the initial taste is creamy, fully wheated and medium-sweet.

Upon the middle, the bready texture and candied sweetness pull apart, paving the way for the tartness of green apple, under-ripened berry, white grape, lemon and lime to tether through the quickly dissolving malt character. The fullness that only salt can provide follow closely behind and offer its delicate brine with no residually mineral character to interfere.

Piquant acidity wisps away quickly while ensuring a high rate of refreshment and drinkability while its soft saltiness lingers to highlight echoes of bread dough in aftertaste. Otherwise a light bodied ale, the taste of brine that clings on tightly to the mouth gives the ale an impression of fullness that has a bit more staying power on the palate than expected.

The beer pours a slightly hazed metallic gold colour with a white head that had the retention of a soft-drink. There is plenty of effervescence visible in the glass. The aroma is tart fruit, spices, and yeast. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour is very tart, with spices and salt thrown in. A better than average gose.

Excited to find this beer locally because I don't think I've ever seen it before, let alone tried it.

Full disclosure up front -- I'm not a big sour beer fan, but I was pleasantly surprised by August Schell's Gose, so my mind is open.

A -- Hazy gold with a dense, off-white head that fades fast to nil.

S -- Nose of bready maltiness and light sulfur. Wheat malt becomes more prominent with warming.

T -- Tart, sour saltiness right up front that that blends quickly to a straightforward citric, lactic sourness. There are hints of breadiness back, but the dominance of flavor is sourness. A blend of tart citrus & saltiness linger at the back of the throat in the aftertaste.

M -- Mouthfeel is soft up front to light astringency in the finish. Body is light-medium.

O -- My overall impressions are reminiscent of first samplings of Gueuze. While this beer may be the hallmark of the style, and sourness may be something that's being rediscovered by today's beer drinkers, this beer may as well be pickle juice to me. Since I tried my first Gueuze almost 20 years ago, and I still can't enjoy the similar character, I don't think I can ever develop a palate for the flavors.

Color is light gold...head is small, white, and tightly foamy. Aroma has a hefeweizen like lemony twang with floral, light spice, and fresh salty cereal grains. Taste is clean, lemony, slightly tart, lightly salted, floral, a little soapy, and white bread dough. Dry through the finish, but otherwise fluid and fluffy. Nice Gose indeed...

Pale orange, slight haziness, and a small white head that lasts for the duration as a ring of bubbles. Fragent tart smell: lemony citrus, apples, flowers, fresh wheat, and brine. Flavor is very light...slight lacto start, green apple tartness, salt, lemon, berries, and grain. Light and quite drying. Nice balance between all the elements.

Appearance: Pours with a finger of bubbly white head. Murky body that is orange with some tints of red. Lots of active carbonation continued to regenerate the head.

Smell: Wheat, some medium bodied fruits, and some light spices greet the drinker. Salt and lime mesh well on the body. There is an earthy, almost dusty aroma that lingers throughout.

Taste: Light tart lemons and a pleasant wheat body are picked up right away. Saltiness, dried fruits, and figs open up on the body. Tartness shows up again on the back end but is well balanced.

Mouthfeel: Good wheat base with balanced salt and tartness. Carbonation isn't as bright on the mouthfeel as other Gose I've had but is still noticeable.

Overall: A great benchmark for the style, isn't overly tart or malt forward. You get both aspects without one drowning the other out. I would definitely buy more of this in the future when I'm looking for a Gose fix.

Large bubble head to start and it dies to absolutely no bubbles within a minute. No bubbles mean no lace. The color is yellow-gold with a bit of a haze.

Soured pale malt is the predominant smell.

Quite tart, almost within the family of lambics but without the lingering aftertaste. Not nearly as flat as the initial appearance, but the carbonation is still well below my expectations. The body is on the thin side--reminds me of apple juice. Frankly, this is a bit disappointing.

500mL bottle poured into an Erdinger Weissbier glass.

Dark straw in color. Initially poured with a nice, fluffy white head that persisted for a few minutes then subsided into a thin blanket of white foam. Mild but persistent stream of small carbonation bubbles.

Imagine standing up to you knees in ocean surf, at night, with a glass of wit in your hand. Smelling this beer brings me back to that experience. In other words, an overlying briny aroma mingled with coriander with a wisp of dried seaweed. Slight fruitiness in the background.

First impression is a typical wheat beer profile with undertones of hay (or dried seaweed). After the first swallow coriander rises from its briny berth. When the coriander taste subsides, there is a mild fruity afteraftertaste (peaches and pears?). Mild and balanced hop profile with sight piney undertones. In the end, there is dryness.

Body of beer in commensurate with its aroma and flavor profile. Feels similar to a heffeweisen.

Not hard to drink but does not go down as easily as a wit or heffeweisen. Every sip reveals new flavor nuisances but this complexity becomes cloying after a while.

On tap at The Pint In West Lafayette, IN. 11 bucks for 16 ounces. Eep. But, you know, I'm a fancy man with fancy tastes...

Pours more filtered-looking that the American goses I've had. I know that the style isn't filtered and that Ritterguts is a prime traditional example of the style, but it just wasn't all that cloudy. Very dark gold, however, with a small white cap.

Smells of tart lacto, big nodes of red cherries. Tastes like cherries up front, corriander and salt near the middle, and it finishes with the sharp esterless-ness you get out of a low-hop european pils. Basically it's like a combination between a good Berliner Weiss and a good continental pilsener, and it's much more balanced than any of the America goses I've drank. Well done.

Enjoyed out of a brown 500 mL bottle with no dating information that I could find on the label or bottle. Poured into a classic weizen glass.

Appearance - Standard pour yields a single finger of stark white, frothy head, with a few larger bubbles bunching up on one side of the glass where I finished the pour. Retention is pretty good, but obviously nothing like you'd expect from a regular hefeweizen, with the foam receding to a half finger and leaving little to no lacing on the sides of the glass. The body is a hazy blend of straw and lemon yellow hues, with carbonation bubbles building up on the bottom of the glass before drifting lazily to the surface intermittently.

Smell - The presence of tart, lactic acid is the first thing that hits my olfactory nerves, with a pinch of lemon and some salty brine characteristics. Beneath that initial assault is a softer grainy characteristic and just a subtle hint from what I imagine is coriander spice.

Taste - I love how refreshing and tart this is, but not overpoweringly sour. Brine and lemon zest are up front, along with a nice bready wheat component to prevent the acidity from getting carried away. There's also some funk and barnyard element, but it's not enough to overshadow the refreshing tartness.

Mouthfeel - Light bodied and moderate carbonation, with a tangy feel on the finish.

Overall, a solid take on the style. Could easily be up there with some of my favorites--plenty of tart and salt, but isn't just an overpowering sour bomb. There is actually subtlety of flavor going on here.

nice 750ml bottle in a teardrop type shape with a long neck and flip top, relatively new to the market here in the US

pours a cloudy yellow color.. very bubbly and lagery looking with a small ring of carbonation around the edge of my glass.. not much in the way of head lasts on this beer

wheaty aroma with a definite funk to it. flavor is heavy on coriander and very complex. as suggested, a nice happy spot between a wheat, a wit.. somewhat belgian overall with a unique saltwater aftertaste.. not overwhelming, more complimentary to the wheat than it sounds.

drinkability is very low due to the intensity of flavors.. a sipper and i'd probably max out at a 6 oz. serving. good for something different and always relish the opportunity to try new styles.

Slightly hazy golden color with white head and lively carbonation. Aroma has wheat, honey and lemon. Taste follows with a light lemon tartness but also an underlying honey like flavor. Body is on the lighter side and has a crisp carbonation. Really classic, well made gose.
