On-tap at Mugs Alehouse, Brooklyn, NY

A: The beer is clear golden yellow in color. It poured with a thin white head that eventually completely faded away.
S: There are faint aromas of honey and floral hops in the nose along with a slight amount of sweetness, which becomes sweeter as the beer warms up.
T: The taste is quite malty with hints of sweetness and notes of honey. There is a slight amount of bitterness in the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There is a light amount of dryness in the finish.
O: The beer is well balanced and would make a perfect accompaniment with food.

Amarcord Birra Artigianale Italiana "Bionda"
12 oz. brown glass bottle, "BB 03/29/15" - 5 months past the best by date -
purchased on 8/22/2015 for $5.99 from Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Appearance: Hazy and effervescent pale golden body beneath a full head of bright white. Plenty of yeast sediment is picked up and then dropped by the rising CO2 bubbles. Very good head retention and lacing.

Aroma: Knowing that honey had been used I was able to pick it up readily. Floral and softly fruity, but not particularly "Belgian" at all. Softly malty... no signs of oxidation unless it's adding to the maltiness... perhaps the bottle conditioning has saved it.

Flavor: A basic golden maltiness dominates over the honey and softly fruity and floral notes, balanced by a firm bitterness that's just enough to keep it from becoming sweet ~ although it is lightly sweetish. The finish develops into dryness with some fruit and more malt appearing along the way. Again, no signs of oxidation unless it's adding to the maltiness.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a slightly elevated carbonation level.

Overall: Interesting aroma. Nicely balanced. Ultimately fairly basic however.

A: Pours a slightly hazy pale golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of visible carbonation and a significant amount of yeast sediment (very small particles but lots and lots of them). The beer has a two finger tall fizzy white head (which gushed over immediately when I popped the cap on the bottle) that quickly reduces to a thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light aromas of floral hops and light fruits (peach, apricot, and pear) along with some hints of honey. The aroma strengthens as the beer warms. There are also some light notes of sweetness.

T: There are a lot of pale malt flavors upfront on this beer with some light sweetness contributed by the honey - which also includes some hints of citrus and floral notes. There is a light amount of bitterness in the finish but it does not linger. Some notes of the light fruits as well - apricot and pear.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Moderate amounts of dryness, especially in the finish.

O: This is a very well balanced beer and it would match very nicely with lots of different food. Easy to drink and enjoyable but not a sessionable beer - I like it but I don't want to drink a lot of it.

The long neck forces a large fizzy head that's about 1/2 the glass of 3 or so fingers, fades semi quickly with fizzy popping bubbles and bits of lacing, mostly clear slight golden tan honey colored with many bubbles streaming up from the bottom to reinforce the head.

NOse has some nice Belgian notes, effervescent, slight earthy yeast notes, grainy and blond malts, little toasty, plenty of esters with a touch of phenols too with a mild fruity note, a little grassy like malt and even hint of wheat almost, a bit of a banana like wheat based aroma, and into light grassy earthy hops. Light citrus rind, and a sweet like ester that wants to seem like an 8+ % beer but doesn't get there.

Taste fairly refreshing, effervescent, and Belgian like, a blond as well, with blond malts, slightly toasty, but more grainy little doughy, almost chewy as well, with more wheat like flavors a bit, grassy malts too. Then into the earthy yeast additions, hint of phenols, more fruity esters with a decent estery flavor, mild banana again, with some estery fruit too. Hops bring a mild bitterness with a grassy taste and slight earthy. Again a mild sweetness that, with the esters, wants to seem like more abv. Also hint of citrus and musty appley fruit skin. Finish is dry, a bit more bitterness from the yeast and light hops, more lingering esters, citrus, musty apple skin, and a bit of the grassy grainy wheat like malt characters lingering.

Mouth is med to a bit lighter bod, lots of carbonation it pops off the tongue a bit too much.

Overall not bad, definitely a Belgian style like blond and a bit of a pale at the same time, nicely done, good malts, decent hops, nice yeast products, maybe a hint too much carbonation, but otherwise a nice beer from Italy.

Pours clear golden to light orange. Big foam, with a lacing that sticks around and decent retention.
Smells of sweet oranges, sugar syrup, green grass, low white bread and flowers.
Hugely crisp, with citrus (not so sweet oranges, grapefruit, and a lot of lemon zest, not entirely pleasant). Honey , sugars and some sweet bready malts flash for just a moment. Spices are pleasant, with some mild clove and coriander, a light pepper pinch and a faint mintiness. Floral notes, but bigger herbal notes, decent hoppiness in the finish with a good bitterness lingering, along with the pale malts.
Carbonation matches the crisp character, a bit high, making this one quite refreshing, if not a bit burpy.
Decent exercise, light, somewhat plain, a bit unbalanced, but definetely not bad. Might be easy to forget about though.

LATER EDIT: it gets sweeter as it warms up, losing some of its crispness

Appearance: bubbly hay colored. Thick off white head. Minimal lacing

Smell: bready, slight grass

Taste: definitely overcarbonated. Smooth bready taste with an acerbic bitter finish. No off flavors but not particularly interesting either. slight bubblegum feel. Mouthfeel is fairly thick for such a light beer.

I always get a hard on for these phallic shaped bottles.

All in all a decent beer but definitely not worth the high price

From 02/27/13 notes. Had on tap at City Swiggers during their Brooklyn event last night. 12 oz. pour in a snifter.

a - Pours a murky pale yellow color with one inch of white head and low carbonation evident.

s - Smells of spice, floral hops, some citrus hops, fruits, earthy notes, cloves, and yeast. Some nice herbal notes and spice mixing with citrus; pretty nice nose.

t - Tastes of spices, fruity malts, citrus hops, floral hops, earthy notes, bready malts, yeast, cloves, pepper, bananas. More fruit here than the nose; a tiny step up. Quite nice.

m - Medium body and high carbonation. Pretty easy to drink but a little overcarbonated.

o - Overall a very solid Belgian pale ale. Lots of herbal and floral notes in the nose and fruit in the taste, and easy to drink. Would have it again.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. And yes, it's one of the prettier bottles I have ever poured. Has a golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of malts, grassy, light spices. Taste is grassy, floral hops, malts, not really the flavor profile I associate with this style. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall a decent beer, but nothing special. Gotta love the bottle though.

Slightly hazy golden pour with a bit of orange highlights. Dense two-finger white head with lots of carbonation (maybe too much). Really interesting and strong aroma of spices with a touch of citrus, yeast and bread dough. Has a really complex slightly sweet taste with elements of honey, light floral hops, spice (clove and maybe coriander), grass, yeast and bread mixing together for a very interesting sip. Finishes crisp with a lingering spice flavor.

Slightly veiled blond, decent white foam, quickly falling.
Malty smell, orange flowers, camomile.
In the taste, again, light hoppiness, orange. Honey present, but not too much, camomile in the aftertaste.
Too strong carbonation, for a not too easy drinkablity. Otherwise, interesting.

New batch just released, no actual date that I can find though.

A: Pours a clear honey-amber with a good sized, fizzy white head. Head fades with nary a trace of lacing. Decent retention however.

S: Grassy hops, decent amount of honey and crackery malt. Floral hops.

T: Honey up front briefly. Floral notes, almost lavender-ish. Turns into a crackery sort of malt with lots of grass. Lots and lots of grass. Very dry in the finish with lingering crackers and grass.

M: Fairly high carbonation, kinda gives it a fizzy soda-like feel.

O: Meh. Fairly plain, simple and just doesn't quite do it. Seems overly grass, too watery, just...meh.

Poured from 12oz bottle into tulip. Clear orange golden color with thick white head. Looks really nice. Aromas of European adjunct...malty, crisp, some hop notes. Taste is sweet malt with neutral profile. But I pick up a lot of grape like flavor. Its mild, pleasant, and crisp. A bit heavy and sweet but a nice dry finish. Its not a typical Belgian style...almost adjunct to me, but its still a decent brew. As always, the Italians incorporate some sort of food into whatever they do, and this seems to work very nice.
