Copper-mahogany pour, very little carbonation--just a few bubbles skirting the glass. The nose is a bit wine-like, making you anticipate sourness. But the beer is not sour at all. Caramel and cola flavor pops with a nutty undercurrent. This is a strong ale and there was a touch of booziness at the bottom of the glass. Overall, a pleasant brew with a unique flavor profile.

Slightly hazy chestnut-brown, with light off-white head.
Popping the cap gives an aroma of dried stone fruits, and a bit of sour grape, as if it was aged in red wine barrels.
In the glass the red wine smell is there briefly, then fades. What emerges is reminiscent of nut flour and generic (unsweetened) cola.
Taste is very much like the nut/cola aroma, with a touch of fruitiness , and tang of sourdough bread crust . The nut flavor has a slightly roasted element. Some light lingering bitterness on, & after the finish.
Light, smooth feel, with very fine carbonation, that adds some dryness.
Overall, not unpleasant, but I likely won't get it again. A sipper, that would likely be better in smaller doses. (12 oz, or less) . 25.4 oz seems like a chore. Might be a good dessert beer, with carrot cake, & other such things.

Appearance: Hazy dark mahogany in color, impenetrable to light, with a moderate, lingering off-white head, and lacing that resembles an alien tract.
Aroma: I have read certain reviews which described the beers in question as cola-like. I was quite dismissive of such reviews. However, now I find such an example, where there are surprising cola notes, like coca-cola without any sugar. There are also moderate dark fruit notes.
Taste:Opens with a cola-like caramel note, like unsweetened cola. As the taste progresses, there is mild roasted malt note, with an undercurrent of caramel. Faint, spicy alcohol notes are present throughout. Finishes with a lingering burnt caramel note.
Mouth feel: Smooth, soft and very full, with understated carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: Pleasant and drinkable, but a bit nondescript.
Presentation: Packaged in a custom twenty-five point-four ounce green glass bottle with a pry-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

The beer looks like a typical dubbel, with a deep brown color, but with only the slightest white lacing present. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of how this beer smells or tastes. Flavors of brown sugar and molasses are present, with the slightest hint of dates, but there's also a dose of flavors I associate with American corn-based adjunct lagers. Maybe I have an old bottle? Perhaps...upon inspection it has the following stamped on it: "BB 03/27/15". For this beer style, I wouldn't think it would hurt much to be aged 5 months past a best by date. I'll post an update if I'm able to find and try a fresher bottle.

Not as well rounded as AMA's Bionda, but certainly preferable to their Mora beverage.

Pours dark reddish-brown beer with big tan head. Nice retention.
Smell of cherries, chocolate, somewhat floral, licorice.
Taste of dark fruits, rather watery, slightly yeasty.
