Figured I would do a review on this store because I go there so often. Older reviews mention lack of selection and all I can say is oh how times have changed.

They have a huge beer selection now, and the staff is always friendly. It would be awesome if they would tweet when they get new brews in (like G&G does). They already have a twitter account so not sure why they don't use it.

Only other problem is when they get limited release stuff in they no longer do holds over the phone, I have a job and a life and at times I can't just drop everything and head there, it would be nice to hold things for loyal customers (again like G&G does).

Overall a nice shop.

This store is literally within walking distance of my house and this is the store I visit the most. My biggest complaint is that the selection is not as good as other Total Wine's in my area mainly due to it's size. This is a much smaller store than the Total Wine in Norfolk by my office which I frequent on lunch breaks. However, the staff is always nice and helpful when I need them. It is always clean and bright in the store, I just wish it was bigger and had a larger selection of brews! Prices are what I would expect to pay for the beer I'm buying.

Overall the prices at this location are great. I do many paired dinners and this is the place I always go for my wine. The staff is extremely helpful. Carol, the attendant who works there, has always assisted me with my pairings and is usually pretty on the mark. Their selection of beers is phenomenal as well. They carry beers from all over the world and all over the country. Best part about it is they carry many singles. And unlike some stores where you have to Build your Own six pack in order to buy the singles, here you can buy just one or two if that's all that you want. Wonderful store and I would highly recommend them.

Compared to the Norfolk and VA Beach store, this place is great. The singles take up about half an aisle (microbrews and imports) with the endcaps having the "nicer" stuff like the Allagash, 3 Philosophers, and the DHF bigger bottles on one end and the 750mL Trappist beers they carry with some assorted imports they couldn't fit on the main aisle on the other. The 6 and 12 packs take up about a whole aisle. The manager tries to be helpful when she makes it over to the beer section. There are descriptions for most of the beers in front of them saying abv, type, and some information about its taste or the brew if it is limited. All of the Total Wines have this but at this one they actually keep up with them. I'll continue going back a couple times a month.

Totals around the 757 are different. The one in Norfolk is spacious but has a pourous selection, and the one in the Hilltop region of the beach is cramped and a pain to get to but has a decent singles selection. Of the three I would put rank this one the best. They have a very good singles selection of both 12 oz. and 750 ml varities. Their four and six packs of imports in the next aisle are also of a good variety. The prices range from normal to high with a couple of steals in there. If you're looking for a Belgian or an American microbrew, especially an IPA, this is a must stop. My only complaint, and it is more big than small, is the sorting of the 12 oz. singles. I can't really say what microbrews are well represented and what other imports they have (German hefes, English ales to name two examples) because they're all jumbled and not sorted out by region. I wish the manager there would give someone that project, but beer is not their moneymaker and it is a smaller store size compared to most department stores as is.

I made a few trips out to this Total Wine over the holidays and was never let down by the selection here. I've visited one in Richmond and a few in the Hampton Roads area, all of which seem to be in similar standing when it comes to selection. The singles section has a variety of many good beers to create a mixed six pack, but the available pre-packaged 4's and 6's are abundant as well. The service at Total Wine anywhere can be hit or miss, but a couple of questions I had were answered without delay and the guy was quite helpful, so the Chesapeake store gets a nod for that. Overall, their beer is reasonably priced, so I can't complain. This store is a definite must-visit, especially in Hampton Roads.

My regular beer store. Good selection, prices ok, easy to find items, nice wide aisle for browsing and getting into beer conversations with other customers. The staff is friendly and helpful. Good turnover (went thru 45 cases of Celebration Ale in record time). One of the managers that is usually in the beer aisle is particularly enthusiastic about beer and talking about beer. He recommended Hop Otten as a beer they just started carrying as something for a hop head to try. Great IPA. Good place for Chesapeake VA and North Carolina customers to stock up.

Went there on my day off to see what they had and if there were anything new.. The Chesapeake store is laid out a bit different than the Va beach store, but it didnt take too long to find the beer. The usual by the book selection that is Total Wine. It always surprises me how they dont carry a brands entire line up. They only carry Rogue Dead Guy and American Amber, why not the rest of them? I do like the fact that they can get Troegs and Victory (how I dont know). There was no real service there to speak of, but I didnt really care as I didnt really need any. They did have cases of Aventinus on sale for 55 a case, my wife quickly pulled me away from that. Overall, Its not a bad place to shop in fact it may be a bit better and friendlier than the Va beach shop. If I ever need beer and Im out of my area i would consider stopping by and picking up something

This TW&M is just off exit 289 of I-64 in Chesapeake. This is the first time I had been to one in VA. The beer selection was good, but could have been better. They did have a few Belgian brews and all of the beers were fresh, no dust at all. The bag says 1,000 beers, but I doubt that to be the case. They did have a few morsels I had not found elsewhere, and some gems. They were also out of some of the more popular brands (like Victory), so the stock appears to rotate well.

The service was a little less since all I dealt with was the cashier, but she was pleasant although surprised that a single bottle of beer could cost $8. "You better get a good buzz off that one" were her charming words of wisdom.
