bourbon barrel aged imperial stout with maple syrup, awesome name too! its great beer, maybe a little over the top on the sweetness, but i like the flavors a lot here. the barrel contributes a ton, charry and woody underneath which is great with all the dark malts and dark chocolate flavor coming from them, while the whiskey serves to accentuate the maple with both sweetness and a vanilla complexion thats just awesome. its insanely sweet though, and while i can appreciate the real maple syrup in here, it ends up almost sweeter than the syrup would be on its own, like they could have stood to ferment this down a bit drier to make a more drinkable brew, even a small glass of this one feels like a lot, especially with the alcohol coming out more and more as it warms up. still, i like all the whiskey on it, it tastes very mature and well rested, the flavors are very evolved, and it sure isnt wanting for more maple character. i bet this base beer would be killer in a scotch barrel, bring in a nice earthy peaty smoke element to this instead of the corny bourbon sweetness, that would be next level! really stoked to have shared this one with some new friends, its really is a great beer. these guys seem to have these huge stouts dialed in about as well as anyone...

Bomber into a snifter appears dark brown in color with a khaki head.

The nose is dominated by maple at first then gets a little grassy and raisony.

Taste follows suite with maple sweetness being upfront then it gets slight citrusy and fruity with raison.

This is medium in body with modest carbonation. They arnt shy about the maple in this but the beer aspect is thin and lacking depth. Not bad by any stretch, just not great either.

Appearance: Arrives fudge brown but poured to minimize the head; a few spots linger

Smell: Chocolate fudge dominates, with the maple and Bourbon coming through

Taste: Chocolate forward with the maple adding a slight sweetness; the Bourbon arrives in the middle; after the swallow, the oak cuts into the profile and the finish is a blend of all the flavors

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation

Overall: Nicely balanced between the traditional imperial stout flavors and the Bourbon and maple adjuncts
