Picked up a bomber at Loews in Banner Elk Saturday for $4.49. Bottled on 3-8-16.

Beer poured black with a nice tan head.

Nose has hints of roasted malts.

Taste is roasted malts forward with a decent amount of grapefruit hops that is leaving a lingering bitterness on the palate.

Mouthfeel is thinner than hoped and somewhat smooth.

Overall this is a decent brew that is worth a shot.

Look: The color is dark brown that is fairly clear when held to the light. It has a tan head.

Smell: It has aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, some burnt smells, and low fruit aroma most like dark fruits.

Taste: The flavors are roasted malts with chocolate compliments. There are some burnt flavors that are moderate. The fruit flavors are low and dark.

Feel: It has a medium feel with slightly above moderate carbonation.

Overall: As an American Stout, it was a little more burnt than and expected and fruits were more dark than citrus. With that said, it was a malt driven flavor beer that has good taste overall and was easy drinking.

Thin. Metallic. Woody. Roasty.

Pours black under a small beige head that collects around the edges into a bubbly ring. Malty aromas like toasty caramel, roasted grain, light smoke, and coffee with cream. Flavor is fairly heavy on the char, a little watery coffee roast, and some hoppy bitterness....seems to be missing some sweetness and substance, coming across as a bit empty. Medium bodied. I love a good regular stout, but this is completely forgettable unfortunately.

Nice looking stout with a long lasting tan head. Mild coffee and burnt malt nose, with a taste to match. Not too sweet, but not very complex either. Feels a little closer to a porter, but overall easy drinking and satisfying.

Poured into a Dogfish signature snifter. Label says Bottling Date: 4/8/15.

A- Pours a mostly opaque black color with a 1/2 inch tan head that retains well before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a small center patch of sheer surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a broken ring behind.

S- Roasty aroma brings to mind chocolate, chicory and coffee.

T- Flavor follows suit with dark roasted malt taking center stage. Mild hop bitterness plays well with the chocolate notes. Pretty easy to drink, not very sweet.

M- Could use more viscosity but pretty much on-par with the style. Medium carbonation and a full body.

O- Decent but I'm glad I only got a single as it would wear on me after working through six of these.

Hoppy bitterness makes this stout seem more like a black IPA, delicious, but I wish it was more malty and chocolatey

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.

Beautiful color out of the bottle, a deep and clear mahogany red and orange, fills the glass with a dark mahogany brownish red color, and a simple creamy three finger tan espresso head. Very creamy retention and top, smooth and whipped, lots of staying power great looking stout.

Interesting aroma. Nice light roasty grains, a hint of char, and a hint of smokey wood just a touch. A mild sense of nutty quality as well in the mix, all very subtle and pleasant, great interesting smelling brew.

Packing a super creamy mouthfeel, the flavors hit with great thickness. Creamy rich and mild sweetness quickly gives way to big roasting char. Woody and almost salty like finish, with a large lingering pine bitterness that creeps in but really builds on the aftertaste in awhile. Wonderfully sensing smokey and pine like aromas seem to fill the mid palate real nicely too.

Very unique stout animal and very delicious.
